Singh Is King released world wide today and the Akshay Kumar movie is off to a historic opening at the box-office. The preview shows across the country were houseful. Shows for the entire weekend are sold out. In North India, its tough to get tickets for the movie at single screens or Multiplexes.
A few multiplexes are showing only Singh is King across all screens. The movie which releases on more than 1000 prints in India looks set to beat the opening week records set by Shahrukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Hrithik Roshan’s Dhoom 2.
With a budget of 50 crores and more spent on marketing, Singh is King needs atleast 58 crores+ to be a hit. The craze and hype will ensure 40+ crores in Week 1, how the movie performs in the second week will be the key. Most movies released on such huge number of prints crash in the second week, but with Singh is King even a 50% – 55% crash shouldnt affect its box-office outcome.

The craze in Pakistan is unbelievable. Most shows are sold out, it will most certainly go on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
In UK, the preview shows were sold out.. The craze for the film has to be seen to be believed. Akshay Kumar is a big star in UK and the movie is set to beat some serious box-office records. The numbers will be out by Tuesday morning (IST). So stay tuned.
Going by the initial reports our Box office Collections Prediction for Singh is King in India
Week 1 – 46 crores
Week 2 – 21 crores
Week 3 – 11 crores
Rest of the weeks – 10 crores
Total : Around 88 – 90 crores. (Superhit – Blockbuster)
So the question is, can Singh Is King beat the overall Nett Gross of blockbusters like Dhoom 2 and Om Shanti Om? If Singh Is King goes on to exceed the intial prediction, does it mean he has beaten SRK in the numbers game?

Hi Everybody, I read carefully views of all of you persons.I think its very funny that all we are fighting just like the polititians.SRK and Akshay ,( Who is King). Earlier word superstar was used but now definations has been changed.Superstar means King.
SRK is ruling on hearts of India as well as abroad for last atleast for last 10 Yrs.His routing starts from the Movie “DARR” than DDLJ than DIL TO PAGAL HAI ,Than Devdas Than OSO and many-many.How SRK’s days r gone only with few hits of Akshay.
Akshay is also great, Go some year back,Same case was for Hritik and SRK,Where is Hritik now.The unnecessary fight of SRK and Hritik damaged carrier of Hritik otherwise Mission Kashmir was not Bad,Hritik beared losses.
Now Akshay will bear losses of this fight.Expectation with Akshay will be raised ultimatly by this all.
Akshay needs 5 Blocbusters and SRK needs 5 Super Flops than Akshay will be called King of Bollywood.

I loved the movie. Yes it may break the records of OSO never mind it It will sure break the new records.If singh is king donot break the record of OSO then dont worry it will be broken in near future because Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is not so far to be released. I dont mean I dont like Akshay. I love him very very much he is very good actor and versatile. But in my view there is shahrukh who is 1000 times great than him. HERE IS THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE FILM ‘SINGH IS KINNG’ AND AKSHAY KUMAR. IT IS COMING FROM ME, AN UNBIASED PERSON, AND 99% OF THE TIME IAM ALWAYS RIGHT IN WHAT I SAY:
singh is kinng has a very good first half. very entertaining and has an awe inspiring feel to it. it is unlike any other movie of recent times. very different and has a wonderful feel good factor to it. very enjoyable first half. watching akshay in the first half, you realise what a superstar pedigree the man has. he ‘is’ the man of the moment, without a doubt.
the second half, unfortunately, is a huge dissapointment. the movie becomes a joke during the second half and nothing makes sense. you are almost forced to leave the cinema as the movie appears to start to insult you being there and you just want to get away as quickly as possible. the second half of the movie is so bad that i dont think i have ever seen a movie that bad in a long time. the director just insults the audiences intelligence with the second half. you feel very ashamed just being there watching the movie and start thinking what else to do and where else to go to. you almost start feeling sorry for yourself.
none of the second half makes sense. the editing is bad, the acting is bad, the filimg is bad, thin storylines, it becomes a complete joke. in fact i think a 10 year old kid could have made a better movie with a camcorder than the second half of singh is kinng.
akshay kumar is in no way to blame for this. its not his fault. in fact akshay is the one that holds the second half together, it is because of him that you continue to stay in the cinema.
its the director of the film mr anees bazmee that needs to be held accountable. what was he thinking ??? why did he make the second half in such an awful way ?? it seemed he was in a hurry to get the movie finished and as a result did not give a damn about what the audience will think or feel. he obviously took the audience for a ride and does not care. so the director should be shot for making the second have so bad !! he obviously thought the whole thing was a joke. mr bazmee should keep his nonsense directing to himself. how can he make the second half so bad, considering it is such a big movie ? is he trying to insult everyones intellgence ?? its not fair on akshay or such a big movie like singh is kinng. the director needs to be held accountable and akshay or any major star should refuse to work with him again.
so, the second half did actually spoil the whole movie. the feel good factor that was evident in the first half was lost by the time i walked out of the cinema. i kept on thinking ‘what happened ?’ ‘where did it all go’, ‘what did i just see?’. the second half ruined it for me.
if the second was as good as the first half then all the hype and the movie breaking box office records would be well deserved. but unfortunately, the movie is a half baked piece of cake , and its success remains tainted. the director is a complete farce.
i think everyone who has watched the movie, whether they liked it or not, will agree with me that the second half of the movie was pretty awful. that spoilt it. if the second half was good, then it would have gone on to become one of the biggest blockbusters ever. i can gurantee you that the movie will crash badly in the second week, as word of mouth will spread that the second part of the movie is terrible. although the movie has broken box office records with its opening, it wont last. the second week will see the movie fall badly. if the movie was well made – the second half, then i think the movie would have continued breaking records for weeks to come and become an all time blockbuster.
nonetheless, i found it as a paisa vasool movie, and worth it ,compared to some of the other rubbish bollywood flicks showing at present.
now, with regards to akshay kumar. those of you who are arguing who is no.1, akshay kumar or shahrukh, the simple test to apply is this:
shahrukhs biggest hit to date is om shanti om. (i did not consider DDLJ or KKHH here as those films were not big hits during thier initial release. they became big hits over a number of years after being played in cinemas for many years and making a lot of money in the process. so what we are looking at here is the biggest hit on initial release. and that is om shanti om for shah rukh khan. if om shanti om kept on playing in cinemas for 10 years like DDLJ did, it would make more money than DDLJ did and emerge the biggest hit ever for shah rukh). now, shahrukhs biggest hit om shanti om presently holds the record for being no.1 in terms of the opening weekend box office takings and the first week box office takings, in the history of bollywood. meaning that om shanti om took in more money in its opening weekend and in its first week than any other movie in bollywood history.
the actual figures are : opening weekend 23 crores. first week 42 crores. that is the biggest ever, and a record no other film has beaten. not even aamir khan, salman khan, hrithik roshan, or amitabh bhachan have come close to beating this record. therefore shahrukh is undoubtedly the no.1 bollywood star without any question.
but what if another actors movie beats this record and becomes a bigger hit than om shanti om, a feat that would be extremely difficult to do. by beating om shanti oms record that actors movie would become the most successful movie in bollywood history. i.e. the biggest hit in bollywood history, i.e. the no.1 movie in bollywood history. now, if an actors movie becomes the biggest hit ever in bollywood history and that film is ranked as no.1 in bollywood history, that actor then has to be classed as the no.1 actor in bollywood, the king of bollywood, because he has beaten everyone else and his film has become the biggest hit ever in the history of bollywood. by default that actor becomes no.1.
the question therefore is, has akshay kumar beaten shah rukh khans records with singh is kinng. has singh is kinng beaten the record of om shanti om and become the biggest hit of all time ? the answer is yes, it has.
singh is kinng has netted a mind boggling 29 crore business in its opening weekend (shah rukhs om shanti om had done 22 crore). this figure of 29 crore is so high that it was unheard of before and has taken the entire bollywood film insustry by surprise, making it the biggest opening ever in the history of bollywood. the no.1 movie ever in bollywood. also, the first week figures are likely to be around the 48 crore mark (om shanti om was 42 crore), again will beat shah rukhs om shanti om and become the no.1 movie ever.
so you see, if singh is kinng becomes the biggest hit ever in the history of bollywood, it will become the no. 1 movie in the history of bollywood, this therefore has to make akshay the no.1 actor in bollywood, beating shah rukh khan. without a doubt. we will have to wait and see what the first week figures reveal. if it does beat om shanti oms record, then akshay has to be considered as the no.1 star and shah rukh as no.2 . without a doubt. it does not matter how many great movies shah rukh has made in the past and how many years he has been no.1. or how many flops akshay has given in the past. it does not matter what has happened in the past, what matters is now, and who is the bigger star now and who is no.1 now.
remember amitabh bhachan became the no.1 star by giving just one biggest hit with the movie ‘sholay’. prior to this rajesh khanna was the no.1 star for 5 years in a row and the idol of millions , and had given many many superhit movies. but with just one movie ‘sholay’ amitabh smashed all box office records and beat rajesh khanna for the no.1 position. ‘sholay’ broke all box office records at the time and was the biggest hit ever in the history of bollywood at the time. amitabh became no.1 overnight.
so, if akshays singh is kinng becomes the biggest hit ever in bollywood history, he has to be classed as no.1. if the public and the media dont class him as no.1 then there is something wrong with them, it is very unfair on akshay and it is favouritism towards shah rukh. it is prejudice towards akshay.
i dont have anything against shah rukh, and if he is no.1 then that is ok with me. as he has given so many big hits and is a good actor. but he has been no.1 for 10 years now and it would be good to see a change, to see someone else as no.1 and how different this would be. we need a change, we need a breath of fresh air. i think people are getting tired of shah rukh, seeing him as no.1 for 10 years. people are getting tired of his nakras and his attitude is beginning to annoy people whether it be in cinema or t.v. you eventually get tired of old things and ask for something different. akshay kumar could be that something different. i dont see anyone else coming even close.

But when i started your second, third and more I felt there was no sense at all and In my point of view, this time you have written this just for your time pass. And I dont think that we need change. Because shahrukh khan is the best and always will be.also no peole is tired by his act (in your language “nakhara”).He is the actor having ability to give something change. He is coming in near future being “spiderman”. Is it same as previous? The role he did in VEER ZAARA, is it similar to his previous work?? And do you know firstly Baazighar was offered to Akshay but he denied because he was afraid this his career may be in trouble.this the movie was offered to arwaz khan he also denied due to same reason. And when offered to shahrukh, he liked the script and signed for the villian role. So, who is the real king?? Point to be noted.

singh is king best movie to see akki is better than srk akki rating in my view 10 out 10 . but srk rating in my view is 0 out 10 . I love akki very much. India found a new super star (king) . We accept it. I think this films beat OSO and Dhoom 2. This films create a new records of bollywood.
