Shivaay has collected Rs 9 – 9.5 crore on its opening day at the box office, as per early estimates on Friday night. The film has performed well at single-screens, but it’s the multiplex business that has come as a huge disappointment on Day 1.
A film made on a budget of 100 crore plus, has no choice but to perform at centres where the ticket prices are high, else recovery becomes difficult if not impossible.
On the other hand, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil opened well on Friday morning and sustained at a good level throughout the day. The film has collected around 13-14 crore on its opening day.

Basically, the first day collections are quite similar to Rustom (ADHM) and Mohenjo Daro (Shivaay). Unfortunately, the costlier films in both the clashes have taken poorer starts, when both Mohenjo Daro and Shivaay were expected to appeal to a wider section of the audience.
However, we are currently in what the trade calls the ‘Pre-Diwali’ period, which is a dull period for film business. The real test for ‘Shivaay’ will come on Monday when the film has to double its first day business.
It remains to be seen if Shivaay will grow from here and narrow the huge gap between the two films. For ADHM, it’ll be about sustaining over the weekend and then recording its biggest day on Monday.

ADHM got benefit of controversy involving Fawad Khan and Uri attacks and sympathy from audience !!!!!!!!!!!! Lets wait till Monday to see how content fares of both movies.
Again a case where the lesser bad movie will take all the advantage. Both the movies are not upto the mark, but ADHM will have a wider appeal and hence bigger collections. And not cz I am an SRKian but the 3 minutes appearance from him was the best acting and stellar dialogue delivery in the entire movie.
Its not ADHM v/s Shivaay its KRK v/s Ajay, ajay start the battle but ultimately KRK win it
Now the qn will come is ranbir the next star, is he ahead of varun, is he back in his league and blah blah.

Haven’t watched Ajay’s movie since that one with Aish & SK looong time ago. But Shivaay attracted me to watch. Salute to him for making his dream project..looks like antimainstream movie for Indian viewers, so I won’t believe surprised if it lost to romance movie.
Imbd shows a decent rating for this, so I’ll watch it :D

So after almost a month long wait anticipating the release of adhm finally managed to watch it in theatres.
Overall it is a good film with wonderful performance by the lead cast and amazing music.Nobody can capture the matter of hearts the way Karan does.He is an excellent director and the reason why he still commands a huge fan following among youths is maybe because he understands the pulse of today’s youngsters.
The first half is just brilliant.Every single scene will either make you smile or make you feel for the characters.The scene between fawad and Ranbir is just brilliantly conceptualised and heightens the drama.
The second half began well but dragged a lot in the climax.I could sense many audience feeling restless in the end.Overall the 2nd half could have been better and edited well.
Performance wise Ranbir is excellent.He’s too good in the emotional scenes and his comic timing is surprisingly really good.Anushka sharma is slowly turning out to be the show stealer in many of her recent films and continues to do so.Maybe her character could have been better written and there should have been an explanation about her feelings towards ranbir.Aishwarya looks like a fairy and Fawad too is good.
Then there is the king of Bollywood who made me whistle and clap in a premium multiplex.He has a small role but he’s SRK even if his poster is shown in the movie it makes an impact.His dialogue delivery can’t be matched by any legendary actor.
So despite its flaws it more than makes up for it by giving us a delightful album,amazing first half with brilliant locations.
My rating 3/5.

@hrithik What a logic.. tomorrow if raju hirani makes a film and it doesn’t match the standards set by him and vikram bhatt releases his film on the same day which gets better reviews and wom than his previous craps then would you prefer to watch the latter one.

No matter how hard i try to convince my self but now i am fprced to believe that ajay is losing his stardom. Extremely disappointed. He deserved success for his courage to try something new. I havent seen shivaay yet but maybe i wont watch it becuase of the negative reviews. But then i am not even interested to watch ADHM either. I will better prefer to save my hard earned money. The way Ajay trying to hold bad tactis on KJO but he failed so badly he deserve that to be a get flop
