Salman Khan’s Upcoming Movies in 2015 – 2016: Confirmed list

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has a solid line-up of upcoming films, all of which are potential blockbusters in the making.

Salman fans have great reason to rejoice, not just because of the number of big films that he has signed, but because of four other reasons!

  • One, almost all his films that will release in 2015 – 2016 are original scripts – and none are south Indian remakes, something that he has been accused of over-doing in recent times.
  • Two, the other big accusation against him is that he has been repeating himself in similar films (typical masala). Well, that is history now. The genre of his upcoming movies varies greatly from one film to another.
  • Three, Eid and Diwali in the next couple of years will belong to him.
  • And finally, none of his upcoming films will be directed or produced by his brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan — which is a positive, because both his films that have under-performed in recent times, Dabangg 2 (collected just 10 cr more than Dabangg) and Jai Ho (lowest grosser in 4 years), were directed by Arbaaz and Sohail respectively. As for the production house, Salman will be floating his own banner ‘Salman Khan Ventures’.

Salman Khan’s list of confirmed upcoming movies in 2014, 2015 and 2016 below.

  • KICK: directed by Sajid Nadiadwala co-starring Jacqueline Fernandes. Release date: July 25 2014 (Eid weekend). We would just like to add here that rumours of the film being postponed by a few days is untrue. Genre: Action.
  • Bhajrangi Bhaijaan: This film reunites Salman with the director of his biggest blockbuster (Ek Tha Tiger) Kabir Khan and Bodyguard co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan. Bhajrangi Bhaijaan goes on floors in November this year and will release during Salman’s favourite weekend, EID. Expected release date: Friday, 17 July 2015. Genre: Action, romance
  • Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: Another massive film directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya featuring Sonam Kapoor as the female lead. Confirmed for Diwali 2015. Expected release date: Thursday, 12 November 2015. Genre: Family drama
  • Sultan: Even though Ali Abbas Zafar’s  Sultan hasn’t been officially announced by Yash Raj Films, the film has been confirmed by both Salman and his manager. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but it could either release after the IPL or during Eid in 2016.
  • SHHUDDHI: This is yet another biggie that was just announced by Dharma Productions. The leading lady hasn’t been finalised yet, but Salman has replaced Hrithik Roshan. The film is expected to be a reincarnation tale. Release date: Diwali 2016.
  • No Entry sequel: This film has been in the planning and casting stages for a long time now. It was delayed because Salman was busy with other films. Tentatively titled ‘No Entry Mein Entry’ the film will be directed by Anees Bazmee. Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan will continue to reprise their respective roles. Salman has allotted around 5 months for the film, which is expected to go on floors early next year. No release date has been announced, but it could release late 2015 or early 2016. Genre: Comedy.
  • Mahesh Manjrekar film: Not much is known about this film. There were reports that it would go on floors in 2015 and Manjrekar has already started scouting for locations to shoot his film. He had also revealed to us a couple of months ago that it will be a typical Salman Khan film with entertainment value. However, in an interview earlier this year, he made an interesting statement. When asked if he would like to direct a film again “If they (stars) are ready to do my type of cinema, then I’d definitely work on them. At the end of the day, everything boils down to money and if the film doesn’t do well, then there’s no point. I don’t think I’m capable enough to make 100 crore films. The only ray of hope in the whole scenario is that films like Kahani (2012), Vicky Donor (2012) and Paan Singh Tomar (2012) are doing well.” So it’ll be interesting to see what Manjrekar has planned up for Salman. We are hoping for a Vaastav!

So that’s Salman’s epic line up of upcoming films for 2015 and 2016. By the time all the above mentioned films release, Salman would have turned 51. And if all goes according to plan, he would still be dominating the industry by the fall of 2016.

Although it would be incredibly hard to pick even THREE films out of all these – go ahead and take your pick. Which three films out of all confirmed films of Salman Khan are you waiting for?

P.S: We recently reported that both Salman and Aamir are keen on working in the sequel to Andaz Apna Apna 2. Rajkumar Santoshi is scripting the film. If that happens, it will be bigger than all films mentioned above!
