Salman Khan’s Next Movie – You pick!

Note: There are rumours that Salman might not have a release for EID next year, as there are talks of Akshay Kumar releasing Naam Hai Boss for the festive weekend.

Salman Khan is the talk of the town, what with Ek Tha Tiger now almost touching the 200 crore mark in India. Wanted (2009, Eid) started the trend as the movie recorded huge collections on Eid (Monday), which was more than the previous 3 days. Dabangg (2010, Eid) broke all opening records of 3 Idiots and took Salman’s popularity to a different level. Bodyguard (2011, Eid) broke Dabangg’s opening record by almost 45%.

Continuing the same trend in 2012, Ek Tha Tiger has smashed the Agneepath’s opening record again by 45%. And Eid’s business was massive to say the least.

The EID weekend has now become synonymous with Salman Khan and like he recently said in an interview, he is now in a dangerous space. He is competing with his own movies. The way he is breaking the opening records, expectations are sky high from his next Eid release.

There are a few movies in the pipeline and everyone is waiting with bated breath for the official announcement.

Here is my list of movies which Salman should feature in next, in order to maintain the extraordinary momentum that he has gained in the last 3 years.

  • No Entry Mein Entry (Anees Bazmee): No Entry 2 seems to be the safest bet in the given list of movies. There are several reasons; its a sequel to a blockbuster, a successful director at the helm and a renowned banner. Comedy has always been an evergreen genre. It is not necessary that the movie should be an out-n-out action flick as Ready and Bodyguard weren’t exactly action movies either. In fact if it is well made, it can bring millions of family audiences to theatres. Since films now have to cater to Salman fans, action will be a part of the film, much like Ready and Bodyguard. It goes without saying that this time around Salman will be the main lead unlike the first part.
  • Kick (Sajid Nadiadwala): Kick is another exciting venture. Remakes of south blockbusters, guarantees success at the box office these days (Ghajini, Wanted, Singham, Ready, Bodyguard and Rowdy Rathore). Also the production house of Sajid Nadiadwala has finalized some exotic Korean locales for the stunt scenes under Hollywood action director. On the contrary, a lot depends on how debutant Sajid Nadiadwala will showcase his talent as the captain of the ship.
  • Sher Khan (Sohail Khan): Not much has been revealed about the film apart from the fact that it will be aimed towards kids ala Krissh, Ra.One. This genre is risky, more so since Sohail Khan’s last directorial venture was Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (a disaster), 10 years back. Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya is his only success so far.
  • Sooraj Barjatya’s next: There is a remote possibility that Salman will start with this film and even if he does, given Barjatya’s pace of filming, the movie will not arrive in time for Eid 2013. Also the taste of audience is changing fast and they might not like to see Salman going back to typical Sooraj Barjatya family dramas.

Please vote for the movie you would like to see as Salman Khan’s next..
