Saif Ali Khan is back!

His last hit was Love Aaj Kal in 2009. Since then, Saif Ali Khan has featured in three films – Kurbaan, Aarakshan, Agent Vinod – two of them with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and none of them made a mark at the box-office.

This week, the keenly-awaited Cocktail released to a fantastic response.  The distributors and exhibitors are now pretty upbeat about the box-office prospects of the film. Here is what some of them had to say

  • Joginder Mahajan (Delhi based distributor) – The film has got almost a 90 percent opening at multiplexes. It is appreciated by audience and is expected to get a good response over the weekend.
  • T.N. Kapoor (Indore) – Cocktail has got a good response in Indore. The response in multiplexes in much better than single screens. The target audience of this film is youth. The response is likely to improve over the weekend. It will work well at the box office. The presentation and the content of the film is nice. It wouldn’t be a loss making project for Saif Ali Khan. Since the film is for youth, family audience may just not go and watch it. They would still prefer ‘Bol Bachchan’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ that are performing terrifically at the box-office.
  • Jaspal Dhingra (East Punjab) – The opening has been tremendous. It is targeted at the youth. The cast is good, songs are already a hit and the movie has been marketed very well. There is a craze among the youth about the film and they have contributed to its opening. The film is doing good business in north India. Faridabad, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, and Ludhiana have got a great opening. It will do good business next week too because there is no big movie coming up
  • Gautam Dutta (COO of PVR) – The film has opened phenomenally well. Friday being a half working, it has done very well with almost 80 percent opening. On Saturday and Sunday it is expected to do houseful. The film has been promoted as a young film, so there are more and more young people coming in, but because it has got a U/A certificate, families are also expected to come on weekends. We are expecting lots of college students on Monday and later in the week.

Made on a budget of about Rs 30 crores, Cocktail is produced by Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijjan. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and Boman Irani.

  • You guys are crazy.. Movie is just ok. I’ts will be only hit or average veridict.. Not a super hit.

  • Sumit, ZNMD is more more better than Cocktail.. Don’t compare collections with ZNMD. It’s 95cr collections in Indian box office. Cocktail will be grossed 60cr or 65cr.

  • weekend will be of 32-33 crores, 50-54 crore week 1, lifetime will be of 95-100 crores. You ppl need to grow up, not all films are masala brainless entertainers and not everyone wants to watch that. its only the single screen audience that does, but remember there is also a multiplex audience. and the film will be one of the biggest hits overseas because i live in america and the whole theatre for the last show at 10pm -1230 om was at over 95% full, which is even higher than what ra.one was here. also, everyone here has loved the film.it will be a blockbuster overseas and a suoer hit in india.

  • indian audience does not have any sense of acting .saif ali khan deserve extinction mark in this movie.in just limited screen release it managed to cross 35 crore weekend collection.this is extraordinary and show craze in audience about this movie
