Rustom vs Mohenjo Daro: Box Office Circuit winners

Rustom has comprehensively beaten Mohenjo Daro in the three major circuits in the country – which includes Mumbai, Delhi/UP and East Punjab. In Mumbai, Rustom was ahead by more than double the collections, in Delhi/UP it was closer but Rustom was still lead by a big margin, East Punjab was again double.

Mohenjo Daro was leading in two circuits, both in the south. It was ahead by 45% in Andhra/Nizam and 60% in Tamilnadu/Kerala. Hrithik is one of the biggest crowd-pullers among Hindi actors in the South and this reflects in the collections – even though all-India Akshay’s Rustom was about 65% ahead of Mohenjo Daro.

All the other circuits belonged to Akshay Kumar and Rustom.

  • No big banner, no big director, no big actress, no item song, no reserving himself for a year to wets audience appetite, last release was 2 months ago, and last not least clash with a bigger and double expensive film. This is how tha khiladi rolls. @indicine u people did’nt like d way it turned out eehh. hahahaa… You looking for new excuses on why as d americans would say “WHAT A @SS WHOOPING” from akshay . Dont smoke doesnt drink alchohol has his private jet to speed up his films promotions in different cities in one day. Courage of a leader mind of a businessman

  • Now Rustam looks like a certain 100cr grosser (Akki’s 3rd consecutive). And our global king is struggling to collect even 80cr! Now, whom should we consider bigger star 100cr grosser giving Akki or 80cr grosser giving global king???

  • After 3 consecutive 100cr grossers Akki is no longer the 80cr club’s king. Now the great title belongs to global king only.

  • Akshay rules
Akshay gave 11 cr opening from below Average trailer of entertainment while hrithk couldn’t manage even 10 cr with above average trailer MJD.

I don’t have to say more coz as a superstar a double digit figure is no no big deal especially with universal genre.

Even housefull 3 had average trailer still 15 plus !

  • Look at the difference in East punjab and also in Delhi. He can’t stand in front if akki in North India! Almost double stardom .he is a kid man!

  • Rustom reviewed mixed reviews. For niche movies reviews matters a lot . Movie was not upto the mark. Bit boring in 1st half Still doing wonders at boxoffice . Only because of Akshay kumar! He deserves the credit more than any1.

  • Hrithik dominance in south is even more than khans which is commendable
now ,he had to choose better scripts like znmd to also command better fan following in plexes

  • @Sunny… Then who should be blamed for poor opening of Special 26 and Baby?? Neeraj Pandey??

Special 26 even lost to ABCD starring Prabhu Deva in morning shows.. so please don’t talk.

It took a very bad trailer, media and celebrity negativity to bring down Hrithik. Collections of MJD went to Rustom thats why he opened so well nothing else.

JollyLLB won’t even cross 15 crore with solo release

  • i dont know about collections but the upcoming movies of akshay definitely look promising in terms of content. jolly llb 2 . crack and robot 2 all upcoming movies of akshay have great directors. 2017 looks great for Akshay.

  • Wait for this christmas. Too many small films like airlift, Loltan, house Empty 3 and chustom have come and gone. Now wait for the biggest movie of the year and Biggest movie of box office i.e. dangal. It will smash all these records within less than 10 days.

  • @neeraj hey buddy how are you ???
    Butt still hurting???
Even if Mohanjodaro had done well it wouldn’t have affected Rustom that much
By the way pls apply burnol

  • Many morons are commenting on baby and sp26 opening hahahahaha…!!!
Whatever they have collected I am happy
Sp26 and baby were to classy even for multiplex audiences…!!!

  • @indicine
in Delhi/UP it was closer but Rustom was still lead by a big margin,
What the fu#k does this mean ??
    Close or not

  • hope i could show u all d comments of hrithik fans like abhi hr aman kapoor who used to blabber before release like mj will crush rustom bla bla.i kept silent all those days but its tym for us to show them aukaat of hr.even though i like hr but bcoz of his idiotic fans i have to mock at hr now.luking at the collections now i wont be surprised if rustom scores 50 plus crs more than mj in its full run.

  • Means poor marketing Strategy is responsible for collapse of Mohenjo Daro.
Every1 have a look at Indicine rating for Marketing of Mohenjodaro ( Its only 4 out of 10 ). Defines everything.

  • @ tiger, SRk is still a 80 crore actor.but Salman Khan was a 20 crore club actor in his struggling days I.e. in last decade.

  • All other actors r booking the release date in advance,
Any news on imtiaz ali next(its title, shooting schedule and release date)
Best available date without clash is september29(gandhijayanthi on monday, dussehra on 30th)

  • Srk and ali should not try to release on diwali or independance with clash instead should opt for sept 29
Anandl rai dwarf movie releasing on christmas??
    Indicine??

  • @Neeraj simple answer 4 your question.

At that time audience were not ready for these kind of movies. Even you know that very well, how much your guzarish did despite getting excellent reviews? And also Akshay has gain faith in multiplex audience.

Even you can say how dabang did 14 cr in 2010 where before his movies were not opening even on 7 crs. It’s a career and it’s goes up &Down. Right now Akshay>Hrithik

  • @Neeraj jolly llb 2 is not kind of movie which will take excellent opening. So use your mind . It will be a court room drama and a double digit opening will be good and is guaranteed.

  • @rustomsunnyakkiholic
i am a Akshay kumar fan
    but the reason u gave
    were damn true
    bitter truth for haters
    :)
