Rustom is one of the most profitable films of the year, as the Akshay Kumar starrer could finish with distributor’s share of around 60-65 crore against an investment of 39 crore for the domestic theatrical rights of the film.
The cost of production of Rustom was 53 crore with around 15 crore spent on print and marketing (total 68 crore). But to keep things simple, the verdict will be given based on the domestic collections (which is what matters the most). The India theatrical rights were sold for 39 crore, so the film recovered all its investment when it crossed the 75-80 crore mark.
The film was declared a clean theatrical hit in its first week itself when it crossed the 90 crore mark. Rustom should eventually cross 120 crore and attain super-hit status.

- Domestic theatrical rights – 39 crore
Nett collection to cross for various box office verdicts:
- Rustom will be a profitable film if it does ? 80 crore (achieved in 6 days)

- If Rustom collects more than ? 120 crore: Super Hit
- If Rustom collects more than ? 160 crore: Blockbuster

Big clashes are not suitable in India…
After a big flop and negativity… still SRK has the no 2 spot of opening day in 2016 I’m an srkian and loved sultan and every film of every actor I don’t know what is the mindset of people on srkians I don’t abuse other actors . Yeah they are some but they only deserve is our ignorance.. I went to watch sultan first day first show. I request every body that you chose your own star but kindly show some respect and positiveness on man who ruled the industry more than a decade and is the biggest star overseas. If I start writing the thngs he did and the records he has it will take the whole day . I supported akshay in 2014-2015 when his films didn’t do too well. I’m not saying to support him but please don’t spread more negativity on person who’s having a career low. And believe me guys with raees , imtiaz, anand rai. He is coming back . Yes we know that the choice of his films are not as good as before but he makes films for us . He is the 2nd richest actor in the world he doesn’t need money .. so kindly respect and love all as it’s not an industry it’s a family.
Indicine how much Akki charge for this movie, does it include in Production Cost or he take profit share….please tell
Also please tell how much Salman gets from Sultan….since it cross the 300cr mark, which means that he also get some profit share according to news…..so total how much he gets…..You can also tell us the rough amount…

Economics play a very important role in the success of a movie and the economics of Rustom were tailor made for success . Akshay does 3 or 4 movies every year so it becomes really important for him to keep the economics under control . In 2016 he has done 3 movies – Airlift, H3 and Rustom . Airlift and Rustom were Co- Produced by Akshay and both of them are successful at the Box Office . So now he is enjoying success in both roles of actor and producer . He did not take any acting fees for Airlift and Rustom and involved in profit sharing . Both these movies were made on restricted budgets and the ROI was more than 100 % . Also he completes his movies within 60 or 70 days which means he is able to do 3 – 4 movies every year. Only Robot 2.0 is an exception where he has committed more than 100 days because it has been made on a huge scale and budget . So Akshay has ticked all the boxes this year and 2017 is also looking promising . I don’t think Rustom will beat RR and Airlift . As per the trending it will beat H2, H3 and Holiday . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This budget is not true, every other site is showing 40 cr COP-26 & PM-14 cr. Total 40 cr. It has doubles the investment in first week itself. @indicne plzz answer.
So Akshay has delivered 2 superhits and 1 hit this year. Well that’s a great end to wrap up the year with!
Moreover he will achieve the record for delivering 3 consecutive 100 cr films in a single year, a feat which no actor has achieved till now. Next year he should be challenging his own record with other 3 or maybe 4 films.
But what makes this year more special is that very soon, Akshay is going to be the first actor in India to cross the 3000 cr mark with lifetime collection of his films(his current total is 2987 cr excluding Rustom’s collections).

Rustom should easily cross 130 cr.
But will it touch 140 cr or not,time will tell.
But Feeling A little dissapointed with the collections.
Acc to me,
Rustom could have easily surpass or touch 95 cr in the 1st week(had it not drop on Monday And remain much more stable during the weekdays and touch the 9.5 or 10cr mark on raksha bandhan day) which means it lost around 4 to 5 cr in 1st week
In 2nd week,
I had thought it to do around 35 crs but looking at today’s collection I.e 4.41 (which I expected around 5 cr) will be tough may be able to touch 30 cr by the end of this week.
So,
On a larger note I was expecting this film to be Akshays 1st 150cr movie(after I saw the 1st weekend collection) but now it would be unlikely to do so since the WOM is mixed but it could also be that I was expecting too much,since it was facing a clash from a big film.
But In A Positive way,Box Office is very unpredictable and anything can happen here.

but during dishoom u were only site to highlight worldwide gross figures to make dishoom zabardasti ki semi hit (above average) by throwing in satellite rights, UAE rebate, etc etc..

Fact remains that dishoom was turning out to be below average after week1 , so varun’s PR exercise and some media and trade tricks , he hide his failure!!!.

@I am d King, every film has different economics. Rustom’s domestic theatrical right were sold outright to a distributor. That wasn’t the case with Dishoom, worldwide rights were with Eros.
You can’t compare the economics of two films. Dilwale was again very different. It earned money for its producers, but domestic distributors lost.
In short, domestic distributors need to recover investment.

Even in so called good phase of his career, he is struggling to give Blockbuster. Last Blockbuster was way back in 2012.
But what about the Industry’s expectations? Isn’t it unfair for a movie which has been sold at it’s fair market price, like Rustom, that a similarly(actually higher) budgeted movie is being judged on a different yardstick?
It is yet another Super Hit of the year for Akshay Kumar.

Why is it not d benchmark for all movies…even u agree its d most imp thing…i see u gv ur ans to another user who pointed d same thing …i agree every film has different economics and what not….but verdict shld b on domestic business wd mention of how it did overseas…..d parameter should not change wd every damn movie….

I am a big Akki fan always enjoyed his comedy movies, truth to be told whenever i watch movies in theater only Aamir Khan able to give me goosebumps i was shaken up after watching Ghajini, though when my fav will give movie like this and make us fan proud. I am happily announced that Akki has truly arrived his last movies like Airlift and Rustom gave me severe hangover and shaken me up and now he is ahead than all the superstar.
