So far, two big films were tentatively locked for theatrical release during the Gandhi Jayanti weekend this year.
Now, Priyanka Chopra’s biopic on Olympic medal-winning boxer M.C Mary Kom, has joined Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang and Saif Ali Khan’s Phantom on October 2nd 2014.
While the ‘Bang Bang vs Phantom’ clash is likely to be averted as both films feature Katrina Kaif, Viacom18 Motion Pictures on Wednesday officially announced the release date of ‘Mary Kom’, directed by Omung Kumar.
With every filmmaker trying to cash-in on the holiday weekend, clashes between big films is likely to get more frequent in the next few years.
It remains to be seen if a solo non-holiday release is better than a holiday clash between two films.

Very bad dicision by viacom. .peecee is a great actress, but stardomwise,she is not even closed to kat. .then how can she manage to beat combo of hro-kat(arguably the hottest pair of bollywood),commercial entertainment and vishal-shekhar music? ! !
And,vishal dadlani yesterday tweeted that bang bang has superb songs. Remember,hr is best dancer of bollywood and kat is best female dancer of current time.so u can imagine how much their dance numbers will create hype.
The movie looks good. Another stellar biopic after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Let’s hope for the best!

Mary Kom will not affect Bang Bang that much since Mary Kom is a biopic and bang bang is a commercial film as seen in Knight and Day
And it is better to clash with Mary Kom than Action Jackson and Phantom will be postponed

mary kom biopic will be good film i hope it will do well at boxoffice while worst film like bang bang a remake of crap film knight and day will be a big flop.

Well, I’m pretty sure it will be a great film with stellar performances, but releasing it with 2 other bigger films in terms of star power and production value won’t be a smart decision IMO. I hope it fares well at the box office should the content is good.
So if Action Jackson releases on 2nd October then there will be 4 films to clash on the same date . Bang Bang, Phantom, Mary Kom and Action Jackson . So i think at least 2 films have to postpone their release dates because all the movies have good actors like Hrithik, Katrina, Priyanka, Ajay and Saif . So i think Phantom should be postponed and the release of Action Jackson is not finalised so it will release in September or 2nd October . I don’t think Mary Kom should be released on 2nd October because Priyanka is very good but clash with Bang Bang and Hrithik will definitely affect the film . Anyways hope for the best .

action jackson is most likely to come on diwali or else on non-holiday date. phantom will also postpone or prepone its release date. as far as mary kom is concerned, its a biopic, it has no competition with a huge commercial film like bang bang. but if viacom is not fool, they should go for a solo safe release and ensure their movie earns more money than to clash with a biggie like bang bang and lose a large chunk of money.
