Ready First Weekend Boxoffice

Like we predicted on Friday night, Ready has done exceptionally good business throughout the weekend with Saturday witnessing a slight dip in business.

But a strong Sunday with business around 14 crores has boosted it’s box office prospects. Collections on Monday, according to some of the initial reports that we have received, are steady and the film is now likely to touch the 100 crore mark.

If it does, Salman will have two back to back 100 crore films to his credit, the only actor to do so apart from Aamir Khan (Ghajini and 3 Idiots). Interestingly it’ll also be Asin’s second 100 crore grosser!

Ready is rock steady at smaller rural areas but reactions from the urban audience from bigger cities is mixed. Still, business in Mumbai circuit is strong, Delhi UP is brilliant and Rajastan collections are great too. Mysore circuit has under performed and the initial response from West Bengal was also slightly on the lower side.

Overall, Salman is the real star once again. His fan following has increased tremendously after Wanted, which has proved to be a huge turning point in his dipping career. The blockbuster business of Dabangg has further increased his fan base, especially at multiplexes. With Ready now opening to such a huge response all over, Salman’s star power is likely to increase further.

In 1993, Khan won acclaim for his performances in villainous roles as an obsessive lover and a murderer, respectively, in the box office hits, Darr and Baazigar.[25] In Khan’s entry in Encyclopedia Britannica’s “Encyclopedia of Hindi Cinema” it was stated that “he defied the image of the conventional hero in both these films and created his own version of the revisionist hero.”[26] Darr marked his first collaboration with renowned film-maker Yash Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films, the largest production company in Bollywood. Baazigar, which saw Khan portraying an ambiguous avenger who murders his girlfriend, shocked its Indian audience with an unexpected violation of the standard Bollywood formula.[27] His performance won him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award
