Dharma Productions has some biggies lined up for release in 2012. ‘Agneepath’ releases in January, followed by ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ in February and then the first Karan Johar directed film minus Shahrukh Khan ‘Student of the Year’ is tentatively locked for release in August.
A few days ago, they also announced Deepika and Ranbir’s much-awaited return in Ayan Mukherji’s ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
Source close to Karan’s production house say, the director is also keen on adapting the famous novel ‘Two States’ by Chetan Bhagat into a big budget Bollywood movie. Bhagat is the author of best sellers like, ‘Five Point someone’, ‘One Night at the Call Center’ and ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, also the inspiration behind the 2008 blockbuster ‘3 idiots’.
Not so long ago, there were rumors that Shahrukh Khan was keen on doing a film based on 2 States. But news is, it’ll be Ranbir Kapoor who will play the lead role and the search for the female lead is still on!

I dont think so..2 States..is being directed by Vishal Bharadwaj not..KJO..
but I have read novel..I think Ranbir would suit it as it has college things..but SRK ki baat kuch aur hai..
and KJO’s first non SRK film has SRK in cameo..so SRK factor is still their in KJO’s directed films
Karan Johar is not directing 2 States. He’s just producing it along with Sajid Nadiadwala (who supposedly has bought the rights from Chetan Bhagat). Not sure if he will direct it or not. Unlikely since he is busy with Student Of The Year and he has also bought the rights of a French film! Regarding Vishal, he’s no longer directing it.
