Ramaiya Vastavaiya Box Office Collections: First Week

Ramaiya Vastavaiya has done well in its first week at the box office, mainly due to its ‘masala’ genre which has attracted people at single-screen dominated centres. But with more than 75-80% of the business now generated from multiplexes, Ramaiya Vastavaiya will struggle to recover its costs through theatrical business.

Having said that, the film had absolutely no star-value apart from the fact that it was directed by Prabhu Deva who has hits like ‘Wanted’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ to his credit.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was by far the first-choice in this week too. Awarded tax-free in three major states, the film continued its good run across the country.

Ramaiya Vastavaiya Box Office Collections

  • First weekend – 13.3 crore
  • Weekdays – 8.5 crore
  • First week – 21.8 crore

  • @Indicine 75-80% business generated from multiplexes??
Well, isn’t that a plus for OUATIMA over CE provided the former receives positive response from audience? No?

    • @Belle, Chennai Express holds more appeal towards the single-screen audience. But then, Akshay is huge in smaller centres, especially in the North.

But the problem for OUATIMD is, with CE now releasing on 9th it’ll be screened for a minimum 7 days (9th – 15th). So OUATIMD will lose out on both Eid and Independence day holiday at single-screens.

  • How is this possible? I mean, can’t OUATIMD sue theatres for not screening on 15th, as it looks like CE is changing things for their own profit, and everytime OUATIMD is suffering?

  • About ramaiya vastavaiya,i think it’s a good movie ,but a remake.
Best thing about this movie is the “jeene laga hoon “song. .really the first four lines of the song is fab. .

  • See No matter What……I am pretty Sure that OUATIMD will make its way to the Top……Akshay will Rule This ID…….bUH @iNDICINE…….How can OUATIMD face losses…..15Th August will be the First Day Of OUATIMD and a 7th Day of CE…….If CE Starts off with Bad Reviews then It would Not effect OUATIMD at all……Even if it GETS mixed Reviews Still the Impact Would be Way less……..As most of the SRK fans would have Seen it…….!!
