Shah Rukh Khan’s Raaes has a lead of Rs 40 crore over Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil at the end of the 2nd weekend at the domestic box office. After comprehensively beating Kaabil over the first extended weekend, Kaabil finally managed to catch upto Raees on Friday and surpassed the collections of the film on Saturday and Sunday.
Raees has collected close to 12 crore in the second weekend, while Kaabil has collected Rs 13 crore.
We would also like to mention here that trade-analyst Komal Nahta in Film Information has quoted the first extended week (9 days) of Kaabil (Hindi) at Rs 70.05 crore and Raees at 108.30 crore, which is a little lower than our figures for both films in the first 9 days.
As far as the lifetime business of the two films is concerned, Kaabil is likely to finish closer to the 100 crore mark, while Raees will finish in the 135 crore range.

This shows how much impact it makes when the smaller film does so much manipulation in collection from the 1st day onwards in a such a big clash. I still think RCE is playing a bit too fair in this clash. There is trade figure of both films to show when their manipulation is questioned. The trade (real) figure is on their side only.

This clash was unnecessary. I don’t know why producers become so moron and greedy that they can even go on with a clash just for the greed of one extra Holiday that they will get along side weekend. Both movies could easily earn more than 150 crore without a clash and that won’t require them to enjoy and big weekend or festive season. This greed killed both movies and failed to show their true potential. Raees team should have understood that Hrithik has a large fan following too and under any circumstances, they won’t choose Raees over Kaabil. And if the content of Kaabil is strong that it would affect Raees which happened at the end and this happened only because of the greed related to one extra holyday. These producers are so morons. SRK had to give at least a big Hit if not at the level of Salman’s or Amir Khan’s movies after back to back two big flops like Dilwale and Fan. Hrithik needed a good comeback after Mohenjo Daro too. But see the result! both are struggling at the box office. Raees almost crashed at the box office and won’t survive this week. Kaabil will earn a few crore till next Sunday and it will crash too!!. Both movies lost at least extra 100 crore that they could earn without clash!! But no, they are driven by their egos so SRK took Salman’s bodyguird dialogue too seriously that “ek bar maine commitment kar di”, to kisi ke bhi na sunta. Stupid!! Guys! Stay away from BOI. They have underreported Kaabil by 10 crore and increased the amount for its budget by 24 crore only to label Kaabil as flop movie. This proves that BOI is a corrupted site and anti Hrithik website!!

Whilst I applaud your efforts for writing about the box office inflation and manipulation, specifically by Roshan team and then subsequently by the Raees team, your efforts for reporting your OWN trade figures will open up a can of worms. What is so significantly different about your trade figure and those that others are reporting such as BOI..? And yet there will be many who will report the Producer figures as official figures as they are ultimately the ones receiving the dollars and any single efforts to chase down numbers is extremely difficult…as you have admitted. I think stick to reporting Official Producer numbers with a caveat that trade figures are different.
Otherwise each movie in the future could have possibly 3-4 different box office collection reports.
@Rahul – Aamir became a megastar in the last few years. SRK has been a global megastar for 20+ years. So just go crawl in to a hole as you obviously only have the intelligence of an earth worm.
1 of the biggest regal cinemas chain in US reported both these movies had only 30% to 50% occupancy for their call Thanking st weekend Saturday night shows which has highest viewer expectancy so definitely oversees projections are being inflated. buyers of Raees tickets were psychotic with burkas who would move to Kaabil shows on its start after 15 or 30 minutes

The competitiom will remain neck to neck till the release of Jolly LLB 2. But by looking at the collections Raees has clearly won the clash. It is good to see Kaabil faring more than Raees in second week but the difference is just by a 2-3 cr margin which is not huge. So the gap between Raees and Kaabil will be narrowed but at the end Kaabil can’t overatke Raees in domestic lifetime collections. Kaabil will finish around 130-145Cr and Raees will finish around 150-165Cr. In overseas market Raees has already declared as a winner from the first week itself, thanks to SRK’s global recognition. It was really a hell of a clash but at the end it is good to see both movies emerging victorious.
@Wazza it doesnt matter. What matters is present. Srk’s time started in 1995 and ended in 2007. Now he is just an actor. He was megastar only between 1995 to 2007. Thts it. How many blockbusters has he given since 2007? Ans only 2. Aamir has given 5 ATBB since last 10 years. So u better know. Also aamir’s last 6 movies have earned more than so called global megastar’s last 10 films combined. So how about that? You better go and crawl in a hole.

I blame Hrithik Roshan for his downfall, post dhoom 2 and krissh, hrithik was in his pinnacle of his career, Jodha Akhbar was also a huge grosser in 2008, but his long disappearance from the scene caused trouble towards his career and starpower, kites came almost 3 years after ja, and from there on his lost his potential to be No. 1, hrithik has no one to blame than himself.
