Race 2 the second big release of the year, has a massive star cast comprising of actors like Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandes, Anil Kapoor and Ameesha Patel.
What’s interesting to note is that, the previous film of all the major stars were big hits – Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone were last seen in Cocktail, one of the biggest multiplex hits of 2012, while John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandes featured in Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2.
Race 2 will also benefit from a holiday release. Infact, the film has three straight holidays; apart from Sunday, which is a weekly holiday, Friday and Saturday are national holiday’s for Id-E-Milad and Republic Day respectively.
The only factor that could work against Race 2 is the failure of director Abbas-Mustan’s last film Players, which was a box office disaster.
So, with a perfect release date, popular genre and A-list stars, Race 2 is set for a huge opening today. The advance booking opened earlier this week and the response has been pretty good.
With a U/A certificate, Race 2 is releasing on around 3000+ screens across India. It’s a wide release and the makers are trying to recover most of the film’s investment in the initial 3 day weekend.
Race 2 Opening Day Prediction: The film is likely to collect around 12-13 crores nett on Day 1.

Assuming that he movie will be liked as much as the first Race
Hot or Flop? I think Above average grosser. Won’t be as big a hit as Race 1
Judging from the trailers, stills, and music there seems to be too much going on. I hope it will all come together with a coherent storyline when we see the film. Race was a hit because it had an intriguing storyline.

second weekend: 22 crore (If liked but if not then between 6-10 crore)
week days: 13 crore (if liked but if not then between 3-6 crore)
2nd week: 35 crore (If liked but if not then 9-16 crore or less)
LIFETIME COLLECTION : 125 – 135 crore (if liked but if not liked then anything between 68-78 crore)

Opening 12-13cr and you call this huge opening on a partial holiday. Even cocktail opened at 12cr last yr.
Race 2 has a huge budget to recover, 70cr i think. It should open with 15cr at least looking at the hype/buzz it has, weekend 45/50cr, week 70/75cr, final 120, verdict superhit. If it trends like other Saif movies then final will be 100cr
Frankly speaking these days the films are rarely judged by the story whereas 95% of the films are verdicted as hits or blockbusters just by the collections & profits done by the film but no one cares of the script or acting.
Moreover almost every film is releasing above 2000 – 2800 screens so it is not a tough task to collect 100 crores for a film when releases on a holiday with huge screens count and atleast mixed word of mouth.
So in case of race 2 it has got back to back three days holidays & 2750 screens in India itself with no big competition so earning above 80 crores and getting verdict as hit is no more a big deal.Think practically.

Race 2 will not collect more than 80 cr. Race 2 for Semi hit because this type of movie doesn’t work best like don 2.

(good name) Khiladi 786 had 2750 screens, it didn’t crossed the 100 crore mar. Talaash had 2500 screens, less than race 2 but had aamir khan which himself is big factor, it didn’t crossed 100 crore mark. I loved race and want race 2 to cross 120 crore but, logically, I don’t think it would, as next week a big budgeted film Vashwaroop, which is also famous, would affect a little and then special chabbis and ABCD would affect it so even 100 crore looks difficult.
