As expected, Ra One is off to a earth-shattering start at the box office. The film has opened to 100% collections almost everywhere – in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Mangalore, Delhi, Noida – almost every multiplex we contacted was house full, both for the 3D and 2D version. Unbelievably long lines were witnessed outside single screens, with people visibly excited to watch SRK’s biggest film ever.
The opening is historic and the weekend is expected to be huge! The real test, quite obviously, will be the weekdays when all pre-release hype subsides and the word-of-mouth takes control!
For now, Shahrukh Khan fans can celebrate! The Day 1 record, currently held by Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, is likely to be broken. If the collections continue to be as strong as the morning shows were, the first day could well be around 25 crores!

The movie will be a huge hit because most of the shows are already booked. People are getting tickets to see the movie in 3d and 2d. I had fun watching the movie with friends, nice atmosphere inside theater. people who are posting negative reviews and comments, well you change say whatever you want but it doesn’t won’t help change your miserable life or your fortunes. You will still remain poor and miserable.

The film sweeps us
into a video game
fantasy where anything
is possible (with a 175-
crore-budget, it better
be). Game developer,
Shekhar Subramanium
(Shahrukh Khan) wants
to earn his son,
Prateek’s (Armaan
Verma) love and
respect. And the only
thing that gives Prateek
joy is to see his joystick
twiddling to spell doom
for the most vicious
video game super-villain
ever. So daddy makes a
baddie just like that and
calls it RA.One (Arjun
Rampal). The game also
has a not-so-
indestructible superhero
called G.One (an
emotionally challenged
Shahrukh). Please read
the box carefully for the
25 permutation-
combinations in which
RA.One and G.One can kill
each other (something
to do with the heart
being in the body and
not in the pocket or
anywhere else during
combat).
Anyway, it gets nasty
as our virtual warriors
tear out of the game,
‘Terminator 2’-style.
Also, thanks to some
goofy programming,
RA.One is hell-bent on
killing Prateek. Naturally,
G.One has to do the
rescuing and being an
android, do it without
getting teary-eyed or
romantic with Prateek’s
mum, Sonia (Kareena
Kapoor). But who said
robots can’t ham or
chant prophetic life-
changing verses coded
by its master? No.One!
Humour based on
linguistic stereotypes
may have worked in
‘ Zabaan Sambhalke’ but
now it hardly earns a
chuckle. This is
assuming the average
audience intellect
dictates that Tamilians
don’t always say ‘Aiyoo’
or pronounce ‘keys’ as
‘kiss’. And even if they
do, no amount of
laughter track can make
this seem funny.
No.Fun!
‘RA.One’ does what no
other Sci-Fi movie has
done before: it mocks
itself. So, the superhero
who is manually
stopping trains in one
scene, is also burning
his crotch or sneezing
out metallic wires in
another. No respect.
Shahrukh’s robotic
expressions will remind
you of his ‘My Name is
Khan’ role, as he
confuses machines
with differently-abled
humans. Kareena’s
character covers the
entire gamut of
expressions but isn’t
memorable or
mentionable enough to
be regarded. Arjun
Rampal has bagged his
dream role: an android
with mechanical
expressions who allows
his body to do the
talking. Good job, Arjun
Rampal’s body!
The VFX award would
go for most battle
arenas, inspired from
many popular games. It
wouldn’t go for the local
train swishing out of
CST station like a
PowerPoint slide.
It’s convenient to say
that if you have no
expectations from
‘RA.One’, you wouldn’t
be disappointed. But if
you feel so little for the
film, why go to watch it
at all?

it is the box office collection which matters.
Bodyguard put up a total of 4.19 crore nett in Delhi/UP and 1.86 crore nett in East Punjab on day one making it a North India total of 6.05 crore.
Ra.One is probably looking at a 4.75 crore nett combined total from these two circuits obviously depending on what happens it in the late evening and night shows but even if they were go to 100%, the Bodyguard figures seem out of reach.

I am a huge fan of Srk, and Aamir both, and I dislike Salman khan, he lacks acting skills, but Ra one for me is not a movie that suits SRK, Srk can do good as far as movies that are dramatic and based on romance, such as kal ho na ho, and/or kuch kuch hota hai, but for Ra one to break records of 3 idiots, is impossible, however even if that happens, 3 idiots is an all time blockbuster, the lines, the dialogues of that movie would be remembered for a decade in all parts of the world, The movie was a superb collection of comedy/drama/romance and college lifestyle. If there’s a movie that can break the records of 3 idiots, it can be DON-2, but remember every movie has it’s own genre, and an action movie can’t replace a dramatic one, a dramatic one can’t replace an action one. Never compare Ra one with 3 idiots.
