PVR to organise Oscar Film Festival

Here’s some good news for all movie buffs. PVR is set to host an Oscar Film Festival, where it will screen movies nominated for this year’s Academy Awards.

“With the film fraternity looking up to the Academy Awards for its quality cinema and global outlook, it is a feeling of pride to celebrate the Oscars,” Sanjeev Bijli, joint managing director, PVR Limited, said in a statement.

“We intend to bring quality entertainment to our audience so that it does not have to wait to catch its favourite stars, action and drama for long. With the 85th Academy Awards round the corner, PVR yet again assures that its audience is well-offered with globally acclaimed movies to match the thrill and excitement of Oscars,” he added.

The films lined up for showcase are “Lincoln”, “Les Miserables”, “Argo”, “Zero Dark Thirty”, “Life of Pi”, “The Impossible’, “Moonrise Kingdom” and “Silver Linings Playbook”.

They will be screened across PVR multiplexes in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad, from Feb 15 to Feb 21.

The Oscar Awards ceremony is to be held Feb 24 in Los Angeles, US.
