Priyadarshni Academy honoured outstanding international achievers in its prestigious Silver Jubilee Global Awards function. The ceremony was held at Trident Hotels, Mumbai on 19th September 2008.

“The Priyadarshni Academy’s Global Awards Function is a very significant cultural event which aims to put India on the cultural and global map of the world as it honours the outstanding work of the national and international dignitaries. This year we will honour eminent personalities who have made significant contributions in the field of international diplomacy, business leadership, environmental science, wind energy and so on”, said Mr Nanik Rupani, Chairman ofPriyadarshni Academy.

Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was the Chief Guest for the Awards Function. Dr. Michael Nobel, Chairman, Noble Charitable Trust; Mr. Praful Patel, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government oflndia; Shri Jayantrao Patil, Minister for Finance & Planning, Government of Maharashtra; Shri Milind Deora, Member of Parliament were the other eminent Guests of Honor.

The renowned global awardees of this year included Mr. Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC, Mr. Tulsi R. Tanti, Chairman & MD, Suzlon Energy Ltd, Mr. Robert C. Hagerty, Chairman and CEO, Polycom Inc., California, USA, Mr. Sathyndranath Ragunanan (Mac) Maharaj, South African leader, Ms Preity Zinta, TV Actress (Smita Patil Memorial Award), Mr. Steve Killelea, Chairman and Founder, Integrat~d Research Ltd, Australia, Inventor of Prognosis, Mr. Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO, Research In Motion, Canada, Founder and Inventor of Blackberry, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Former Under Secretary General, UNO and Dr. Rumi F. Beramji, Orthopaedician, Mumbai.

Priyadarshni Academy is a prominent NGO engaged in socio-cultural and educational activities and has been holding the biennial A wards Function since its inception in 1984.
