Aamir Khan’s PK has raced ahead of Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year in just 9 days after its release on 19th December.
A combination of different factors has worked big time for PK. The trust amongst the audience in Aamir Khan, the Rajkumar Hirani factor and tremendously positive word-of-mouth publicity has worked big time for the film.
Aamir has not only become the top star in India, but he has also started dominating the overseas markets – in fact, his records will be difficult for any actor to surpass in the next couple of years. The founder of the 100 crore, 200 crore and most likely the 300 crore club, could be reliving his ‘Ghajini’ and ‘3 Idiots’ days, what with ‘Dhoom 3’ and now ‘PK’ taking film business to an altogether different level.

Today I am going to post about my Best 10 movies of 2014.
I feel the numbers of great films in 2014 were not as much as those of 2012 or 2013. The movies of superstars were also not that good either(Expection:PK) and most of them come in average to below average catagory. Here is the list of my best 10 films whom I personally found good/deserving enough to include. I am not considering a few films(like Ankhon Dekhi,Ugly,Hawaa Hawaai) as I haven’t watched them yet.
10. City-Lights:
I wish they had given some more importance at the background score and camera angles. There were some flaws, but the things who worked were the honest and terrific performances by the two leads. The climax was impressive too.
9. Rang Rasiyaa:
After a lot of controversies, it finally released. Had it contain a superstar in it,it would have been appriciated by many. Certainly not a great movie, but definitely watchable! Randeep Hooda deserves praise for his performance.
8. Mardaani:
Mardaani is much better than many useless thrillers of B’town. Rani Mukherjee has delivered one of the best performances of the year. There were no songs in the film(excluding the theme song), which was actually a good decision by the makers!
7. Hasee Toh Phasee:
simple story with a predictable ending, but the screenplay was impressive. Entertainment level was really high. Pareeniti has delivered a stronge performance.
6. Khoobsurat:
I found this movie consistantly entertaining. The performances by all the stars were praise-worthy. The mother-daughter chemistry between Sonam Kapoor and Mrs. Kher worked very well.
5. Finding Fanny:
These kind of movies cann’t be loved by all. The best things about Finding Fanny were the performances, mainly by Pankaj Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Deepika Padukone.
4. Haider:
Arguably the best acted movie of the year. Shahid,Tabu,Kay Kay Menon, Irfan Khan, all were brilliant. The background score was praise-worthy too. The cinematography was brilliant.
Tie 4. Dedh Ishqiyaa:
Simple,beautifully-crafted and well-acted . You can genuinely feel the pain of Madhuri’s character. Huma, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warshi has done a very good job too.
3. PK:
It was really difficult for me to arrange PK,Haider and Dedh Ishqiyaa in a order. The only reason for which I have placed PK higher was its supremely high entertainment factor. PK wasn’t perfect, but there are a lot of things to be loved. Amir has given his best in the movie. The supporting casts were impressive too.
2. Filmistaan:
Who said that off-beat movies are not entertaining? I suggest everyone to watch this movie. I was moved. It is an intelligent movie. Sadly,it doesn’t have popular faces which is why it’s the most underrated film of 2014!
1. Queen:
Queen is a clear Winner. The plot was very simple. Nothing much happened. But, the simplicity creates brilliance in the film. The cinematography,background scores were impressive. Kangana Ranaut has delivered one of the best performances of the century. She deserves maximum credits for the super-success of the movie.
So,these are my best 10 movies of 2014. I would mention Highway in a special catagory mainly because of the wonderful performance by Alia Bhatt.
U can’t rule out d fact that high ticket prices have helped it tremendously.Tickit prices have not dropped a bit since its release not even its second weekend.
New releases like Ugly and Night at d mueseum were running on less ticket prices compared to one week old PK.
Waiting for next aamir film,no brand,no hirani so it will be mela 2

only aamir cn create records,break it and create a new one.his dch started the trend of urban films.his laagan took india to oscars.his qsqt started the trend of romantic films.his carrer hit rate is an outstanding 53% and hit percentage in last 14 yrs is 90%!!!he created 10lcr club with ghajini,200cr club with 3 idiots,280cr club with dhoom3 and now will create 300cr club with pk.the top3 highest grossing films in 2nd week r aamir films-3i earned 56cr,d3 earned 68cr and now pk will earn 90cr.
Forget beating aamir nobody can even compete with him except aamir himself.

wat aamir does everyone follows whether it is about new methods of marketing a film,doing one film at a time,selecting off beat or unconventional stories and making them big hits or his unique way of everytime following a paisa vasool film with high quality film.aamir is always the first one to do each of these things successfully and start a trend that has time and again revolutionized Bollywood.

After seeing both films it was always evident to me that PK had the repeat value going for it more than any other movie this decade despite the loon SSS khan convincing only himself that the patriotic angle in farahs film would help in bringing repeat audiences for her crap film…
