PK has collected Rs 183 crore in its first week at the domestic box office. The film has shown outstanding growth, not just over the weekend, but on Christmas when the film managed to collect almost 30 crore. Even on Wednesday the film was phenomenal, business at multiplexes picked up because Thursday was a holiday.
PK is the highest Hindi grosser of all time in its first week, and second in the all time list as Dhoom 3 collected Rs 188.99 cr in its first week including 7 crore from regional versions like Tamil and Telugu.
Looking at the trend, PK is almost certain to cross the lifetime collections of Dhoom 3 and should eventually cross the 300 crore mark. It should go on to be an ‘All Time Blockbuster’ too, yet another all time grosser for Aamir Khan.

I firmly believe that now Aamir is the biggest worldwide star from India. Not only are his movies making records in India but even overseas too.
The advantage he has is that even his less massy movies make all time records while other’s struggle to make records even with their massy movies.
One cannot expect salman/sarook to play a role like PK because then their fanbase will reject that movie or won’t embrace it wholeheartedly.
People often argue that Aamir has got less fan base than even people like akki….but then what use is having fans who don’t come out to support their fav star by watching their movies in theatres….isn’t that what a fan means…being fanatical….in fact other stars’ fans to come out in large numbers to watch an Aamir movie because they know that unlike their fav star Aamir will rarely disappoint them. That’s true star power. And Aamir is a megastar at that.
One more thing which I have come across here is people saying that Dhoom 3 is a crap movie. Now it’s as good or as worse as movies like CE, Don 2, JTHJ, HNY, BB, K3, D2, ETT etc depending on how you look at it. But what separates it from the others is the superb trending in the first week and even in the second week. Something which the classics of others have regularly failed to do.
