On Saturday last week, Sonu Sood was playing for Salman Khan’s CCL Team Mumbai Heroes, when he twisted his ankle and suffered multiple fractures on his right leg.

He was rushed back to Mumbai and had to undergo surgery at the Lilavati Hospital. There was a big question mark on his upcoming films, one of them the remake of Zanjeer where he plays Sher Khan.

Being a thorough professional, Sonu called up his producers and offered to return their signing amount soon after his surgery, as he didn’t want them to wait for almost 2 months for his leg to heal.

Times Of India quoted Sonu as saying “As soon as I sustained those injuries, I knew they were bad. I immediately texted my producers informing them of my impending surgery. The doctors told me that I’ll be out of action for six weeks. It’s not possible for the makers of Zanjeer to wait for me as they are on a tight schedule. It was only right that I backed out”

So while injury forced Sonu out of Zanjeer, Salman Khan came to his rescue. The superstar offered Sonu a role in the Hindi remake of Mahesh Manjrekar’s Marathi movie. It was a role that was first offered to Salman. Sources say, Sonu wouldn’t have any problem shooting for the film, as the character requires him to be on a wheelchair.
