Phoonk 2 Story – Movie Preview

Phoonk (directed by Ram Gopal Varma in 2008) ends with the killing of Madhu (Ashwini Khalsekar), the woman who casts a black magic spell on Rajiv’s daughter Raksha.

Phoonk 2 (directed by Milind Gadagkar) begins with Madhu’s ghost returning from the grave to seek revenge on the family. On bagging a new construction project, Rajiv (played by Kannada actor Sudeep) moves with his family to a new place. Raksha (Ahsaas Channa) and Rohan begin exploring the place and its surroundings – the lonely beach and then the woods behind the house. The terror begins with Raksha and Rohan finding a doll in the woods and then it progresses to a series of highly traumatizing experiences for the whole family.

Manja (Zakir Hussain), the only man whom Rajiv could turn to, meets a gruesome death at the hands of the black magic woman Madhu’s ghost, who has risen from the grave to avenge her own death.. to seek vengeance on Rajiv, by torturing his loved ones – his wife Aarti (Amruta Khanvilkar) and their children, Raksha and Rohan in unimaginably cruel ways.

Phoonk 2 produced by P Chandrashekhar and Prashant Burra, captures the fear of a family caught hostage to a murderous, animalistic spirit seeking revenge by brutally terrorizing them. We experience a fear far larger that that of a live evil than when the dead returns to haunt you. It is the fear that extends to letting go of one loved one to save another. Where every situation takes a sinister turn for the worse, methodically murdering everyone’s hope to live. Terrorized by the demonic force, will Rajiv give in to the ghost or will he betray his family and give up? Will the family survive as the gruesome and repulsing murders are committed, or do the disfigured bodies, visions, ghostly voices drive them to death? Will the ghost live with them till they become ghosts themselves? The choice that Rajiv has to make in the final moments of the film forms a very unsettling and a highly disturbing climax.

Phoonk 2 releases across theaters  on 16th April 2010.

  • I think RGV is aware that the indian audience doesn’t like horror movies and wd never dare to watch some scary movies alone, therefore he is doing it for second time, offering ppl money if they do it alone! He did it for Phoonk1 and many people saw it ( including me) and didn’t find it very scary, I saw the trailer of phoonk2, if I was in india so I would hv won and got the money!

  • this is ur misundersatnding fathiya – a well made horror movie always find good audience if the movie is made at reasonable budget . for eg raaz -1 , 1920 and bhoot all did well becoz they are liked by the viewers

  • Manish: phoonk1 wasn’t a bad movie, was quite good but not v scary! and why this director is so confident of his ability as a director and thinks that his movie would be the scariest movie ever?all the movies u mentioned were much better than phoonk1, that’s my opinion and I know that lots of ppl may disagree with what I mentioned. For me the scariest movies which I saw was The Exorcist part1 only and The Omen part 1 and 2
