Nautanki Saala and Commando: Box Office Prediction

The IPL fever is currently on, but last week’s release Chashme Baddoor did very well at the box office. This week, we have two low/medium budget films scheduled to release in theatres.

Nautanki SaalaNautanki Saala: Directed by Rohan Sippy, the film is about Ram Parmar (Ayushman Khurana), who meets a troubled and lonely Mandar Lele (Kunaal Roy Kapoor), and their ensuing bonding and friendship. Packed with comedy and good music, Nautanki Saala also stars Pooja Salvi and Evelyn Sharma.

Nautanki Saala Box Office Prediction: The film, co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Ramesh Sippy, has been made on a low budget. Infact, Rohan Sippy recently told us that Nautanki Saala is the lowest budget film that he has ever made. The cost of the film including print and promotion is around 15 crore. Given the fact that it’s Ayushman’s first film after Vicky Donor, Nautanki Saala will be the first choice this weekend. A lot would then depend on the content. Opening day collection is likely to be around 4 crores.

CommandoCommando: The other release this week features Vidyut Jamwal who made his debut in John Abraham’s Force. An action film that also features former Miss India Pooja Chopra and Jaideep Ahlawat. Directed by Dilip Ghosh, Commando is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, and the project has been heavily promoted with multi-city tours and through TV shows.

Commando Box Office Prediction: Should open well at single-scenes, but the initial response will decide it’s fate at multiplex. It has tough competition from last week’s release Chashme Baddoor, this week’s Nautanki Saala and also the IPL. Opening day should be around 2-3 crore.
