Mubarakan has done well in its first weekend at the box office, inspite of the film taking a very poor opening on Friday. The first weekend business of 23 crore, gives the film a chance and the strong trend suggests it could hold well on Monday.
The problem was the level of opening on Friday. If ‘Mubarakan’ had started at around the 7 crore mark and then showed the kind of growth that it has over the weekend, it would have already been a winner with close to 30 crore business in its first weekend.
Now, the next few days will be crucial for the film, because of the competition it faces from Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal this coming weekend.
If the week-day occupancy is good, ‘Mubarakan’ will retain more shows than it otherwise would against a big film in Week 2 and that will give the film a chance to perform on its 2nd Saturday and Sunday.
