Most Awaited Bollywood Movies: July – September 2013

The first two quarters of 2013 are over, and the year has been a disappointing one with only two Blockbusters and a string of medium budget Hits. Big releases like Race 2 and Himmatwala have left everyone underwhelmed. The third quarter (July to September) looks promising as many big budget films starring the biggest superstars are slated to release.

Let’s look at the 10 films which are slated to release in the third quarter, that have us excited. [This is Part I of the list]

Bollywood Movies in the 3rd quarter of 2013

Lootera: Vikramditya Motwane bestowed everyone with one of the Best Debut Hindi films of any director ever – Udaan. Now, he’s back with a period love story set in the 50s era Bengal. Starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, the film has already impressed one and all with its moody and atmospheric trailers and music. The only thing going against Lootera is the high budget. With a total investment of around 60cr, it will be a difficult job for the makers to recover all the money spent.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag: This is without a doubt one of the most talked about films of the year. The trailer released almost 7 months before the release of the film and raised the buzz. Farhan Akhtar seems tailor-made to play Milkha Singh and the commitment he has shown in building his physique like that of the legendary athlete is admirable. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra made a decade-defining film like Rang De Basanti but followed it up with a dud like Delhi 6. Here’s hoping Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is as good a film as RDB!

D Day: Nikhil Advani has had one major high and some major lows in his life. He burst into the directing limelight by delivering the Smash-hit Kal Ho Naa Ho, but when his next few films started faltering, it made everyone put the credit for the success of KHNH on Karan Johar instead. But, Nikhil’s latest film D-Day has made everyone stand up and take notice due to the very appealing and fast-paced trailers. The premise is also innovative. And the cast includes talented actors like Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Huma Qureshi and Arjun Rampal to name a few. We think this film has the potential to surprise a few people.

Chennai Express: SRK is acting in an action masala commercial film after a long gap of 6 years. Rohit Shetty is in charge of direction, and the in-form Deepika Padukone is SRK’s co-star. This time SRK is enjoying a holiday release and a solo release at the same time. The promos have been liked by the target audience and trade analysts are expecting a few records to be broken by Chennai Express this Eid.

Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara: Having gone through a release date change and a title change just 2 months before the release of the film, Team OUATIMD is confident about the fate of the film. Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai was a big hit and the sequel is expected to get the franchise up and running once again. Akshay Kumar, who hasn’t had a 100cr film in the last one year, teams up with Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha for this film. The soundtrack has been composed by Pritam and is expected to give the film’s collections a boost.

Stay tuned for the next five films of the list (you can predict the 5 films too if you want). And in the meanwhile, tell us which film(s) are you most looking forward to, and what are you expecting from each of these films?

Part 2 of the Most awaited movies between July and September will be published tomorrow.

    OUATIMD – 145 cr – SuperHit
    Satyagraha – 80 cr – Hit

  • lootera nd BMB r lukng very gud content wise…but these two films hardly manage to get HIT status becoz of their high budget…nd same wid Dday…out of these 3 BMB wil b d bigest 1….nd d othr 2 r going to cross 100cr surely. CE wil definitly score over OUATIMD becoz d latter lukin a love triangle nd less exiting dan d first part..

  • Top 3 grossing movies from July to Sept:
    1.OUTIMD
    2.Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
    3.Lootera
    4.DDay /Chennai Express

  • Ekta Kapoor’s obsession with numerology hits ‘OUATIMD!’

Producer Ekta Kapoor, known for her belief in astrology and numerology, has made too many alphabetical changes in the title of ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara!’ (OUATIMD).

Earlier, the film was titled Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again and later ‘Again’ was replaced by ‘Dobaara’.

And now more additions have been made to the title – an exclamation has been added after Dobaara and ‘Y’ has been added after A.

“I believe in astrology and numerology, but I will get to know (its effect) only after the release of the film,” Ekta told reporters at the second trailer launch of Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!

The successful filmmaker compares filmmaking with gambling.

“Filmmaking is all about gambling – just one weekend decides the fate, while in TV serials you can change the track, kill someone and bring him or her back, but films are scarier and exciting.”

If part one saw Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi, for Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! Akshay Kumar has been roped in and he plays his first negative role in the underworld drama.

Ekta said: “Bad is the new good. I love his half smile, which is too scary and sexy. He is incredibly sexy in the film.”

However, Milan Luthria is a common factor in both the films – he directed the first part and wielded the megaphone for the sequel as well.

Sonakshi Sinha also features in the film slated for an August 15 release.

  • If 60 crore is spent on Lootera how much is spent on Chennai Express?
I guess then CE budget must be 120 crore.
Means its impossible for CE to become blockbuster with such huge budget.
I guess in the best case CE will just be ‘hit’ like Ra.one.
And in the worst case …. himmatwala

  • Must watch film from july to aug

Of factors…do u knw why soty was a semi-hit wid a collection of 65 cr…bcoz it’s budget was 45 cr…now, imagine wid new comers, y its budget reached 45 cr.

  • Are u kidding me :D for sure CE all the way , 6 in 1 , the king , Dee, romance, action, comedy, drama

  • Going by the review, will watch Lootera tomorrow, hope I will not be disappointed, thereafter, OUATID.

  • People here are so stupid…one guy is saying ce budget is 120 crores…and one is saying he will watch ouatimd 100 times…indicine should check the comments before publishing them !!!
    #sick people

  • And in best case ce will be like ra.one…man you seriously need a psycatrist !!!
And ce can’t be himmatwala at any case as those 45 crores collections would be easily crossed within 2 days of release…plz check what you say and incase you don’t have any knowledge then plz shut up !!!

  • @nolaniitjee: hahaha…lootera above CE… 1st days collections of CE will be better dan life time collection of Lootera

  • “Chennai Express: SRK is acting in an action masala commercial film after a long gap of 6 years. Rohit Shetty is in charge of direction, and the in-form Deepika Padukone is SRK’s co-star. This time SRK is enjoying a holiday release and a solo release at the same time. read this and then read the next—–

“Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara: Having gone through a release date change and a title change just 2 months before the release of the film, Team OUATIMD is confident about the fate of the film. Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai was a big hit and the sequel is expected to get the franchise up and running once again. Do not worry!CE will be ATBB film.Because OUATIMD is a love triangle & people don”t like love stories in a gangster or crime thriller movie.Just chill!

  • OUATIMD, BMB, Lootera, Satyagraha and D Day will take the Top 5 positions for this third quarter…! All films will be huge…!
