More than 50 Awards for Jodha Akbar

Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic masterpiece Jodha Akbar has swept most Bollywood awards and also managed to win quite a few awards internationally, this year. So far the tally of awards has exceeded 50, a record only few films have managed this decade, the first being Hrithik’s very own Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

While Ashutosh Gowariker has unanimously been voted as the best director of the year, Hrithik who received immense critical acclaim for his performance as Akbar, went on to win the Best Actor Award at Golden Minbar International Film Festival. Add to it several awards for AR Rahman’s music, Javed Akhtar’s lyrics and the 4 main pillars of the costume drama have proved, well-made films on History do work at the box-office, irrespective of its length which was criticized.

For the record, Historical’s in the last decade like Ajay Devgan’s Bhagat Singh, Shahrukh Khan’s Asoka, Aamir Khan’s Mangal Pandey have failed to make an impact on the audience.. While even a ban, in several states of India, couldn’t stop a film that will be remembered for years and year to come!
