Mom Day 2 (Saturday) Box Office Collections

After the success of ‘English Vinglish’ in 2012, Sridevi’s latest film ‘Mom’ is all set to be yet another winner for the veteran actress. The film has shown phenomenal growth across the country, with several centres more than doubling its business from Friday.

The night shows at multiplexes in metro cities were recording near full occupancy, inspite of competition coming from the bigger and more popular Hollywood release ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. It was one of those rare Saturday’s when all films, including ‘Guest Iin London’ (at lower levels) showed decent growth.

The combined business from the three new releases over the weekend will cross the 50 crore mark, which is only about 20% lower than the weekend business of a major Eid release like ‘Tubelight’.

For ‘Mom’, the morning shows on Sunday, at centres that we tracked, were about as high as the Friday and Saturday business combined. A 15-crore plus weekend is a possibility, which would be excellent given the fact that the film started below 3 crore on its opening day. There’s a T20 cricket match tonight, but that may not make a big impact on business as it’s scheduled to begin late (9PM) in the night.
