It’s going to be one of the biggest box office clashes of all time as three films are now officially set to arrive during the Diwali weekend this year.
Golmaal 4 was the first film that was announced for Diwali, but soon after the announcement of Robot 2.0 there were reports that Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty had decided not to take on the Rajnikanth – Akshay Kumar film.
Post that, there was a major shuffle in release dates. Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha moved from June to the Independence Day weekend – which was already taken by Shah Rukh Khan’s untitled film directed by Imtiaz Ali.
After ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ was moved, Aamir Khan decided to postpone his production ‘Secret Superstar’ to the Diwali weekend – which set up a clash with the more commercial film ‘Robot 2.o’.
Now with ‘Golmaal Again’ also coming on Diwali, the stage is set for a big clash and there’s going to be a tough battle to get shows and screens – as both Robot 2.0 and Golmaal Again are commercial films with pan-India appeal.
Business of ‘Golmaal Again’ will be affected by ‘Robot 2.0’ in the south, while the Akshay Kumar factor could be negated to a certain extent by ‘Golmaal Again’ in the north and other parts of India.

Robot 2 can turn out to be just a mindless special effect Action movie. By then most people must have watched Bahubaali the Conclusion and its a Tollywood movie. Where as if GA can create the buzz it did 2010 I see GA strolling past 150 cr easily.
Now its 2.0 that seems in Danger Zone.
I have observed that in big clashes, the Actress factor plays a very important role. Out of this, Golmaal Again is having more popular actress (Parineeti Chopra). Also Secret Superstar will gather lot of attention as Zaira Wasim was loved in Dangal. Even Amy Jackson was praised for her action scenes in Singh Is Bling. But Golmaal Again is having more advantage presently due to Heroine Factor.
I’m guessing Secret Superstar will move again….the whole logic of moving from 4th August would get defeated……still plenty of dates in November/December for Secret Superstar!
Or maybe even end of July as it’d get two weekss to perform before the release of Independence Day releases!
And yes, Golmaal and Robot clash would hurt the industry………..both are commercial big budget films having a similar target audience………

secret superstar diwali k liye announce nhi hoti agar golmaal 4 pehle hi announce hoti. now i think secret superstar will be preponed to 29 sep. now its crystal clear that diwali is fav of ajay whether its 3 way or 4 way clash, he dont care about director,b.o,profit-loss,opposite star beside diwali. he will clash with aamir in 2018 diwali for sure from now onwards even akki will dare to clash on festives. big superstars are clashing but newbie varun enjoying solo dates and salman is enjoying two biggest festives solo. these stars should release there movies in first half to avoid clashes.
So 2.0 is officially became Rajni starrer as business will be affected badly by G4 in north. Secret superstar may also move ahead, even if they stick to the date, it won’t flop but two big universal movies will restrict its appeal. Between G4 and 2.0, people will hardly give a chance to SS.
Its a really tough battle between golmal 4 n 2.0.in the south it will be 2.0 all the way,even it will be difficult for golmall to get enough screens but in north golmaal definitely has an edge but akki’s presence will dent golmaals collections especially in north n Mumbai.both the movies are gonna eat into each others collections for sure,though in all India basis its gonna be 2.0 which will come on top due to rajni’s megastardom in south..
