Mausam was expected to open slow at the box office and it has. On Friday morning, the Shahid Kapoor starrer, opened to 40% collections all over India and while business did pick up for the noon and evening shows, the response from the audience is mixed.
The critic reviews have been average too with Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut scoring 49 out of 100 on our Mausam Review page (out of the 12 reviews that we have received so far).
Mausam is expected to fare well over the weekend, but the mixed word-of-mouth remains a concern. The weekend total is likely to be in the 15 – 17 crore range.

SHAHID HAS TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL AS AN ACTOR WHO HAS NOT BEEN EXPLORED IT SEEMS BY SEVERAL DIRECTORS. SONUM LOOKS PRESTINE. IN THINK SHE SHOULD TAKE SOME MORE SERIOUS ROLES THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT WORK FROM HER SIDE.

Guys. i just dont get any of u. how can u not like this movie. ye its wasnt perfect, it got a little slow. But this movie was waayyyyyyyyy better than bodyguard. Bodyguard was just another very cheap story-less movie. Idk how u like bodyguard. Salman khan is the one who cant act. he does the same repetitive trash over and over again :@
1st half good. 2nd half hide-n-seek between Shahid and Sonam across all over the world.
Many scenes were useless and total wastage of producer’s money.
It was all about romance, pain, emotions…needed actors like Shahrukh, Tabu or anyone who can do justice to romantic-painful-drama shown over span of so many years.
Had watched bodyguard before this, but cannot forget Kareena’s part, she was so brilliant.
Mausam is for those couples who have interesting love story in their real life – they will love this movies and will relate to it well especially if they have united after lot of troubles.

For people expecting to watch some masti-dhamaka – please dont go for it.
movie for people in their 30’s or olders…you have to use bit of brain when watching the scenes.
for e.g. when Shahid buys bread from Sonam and falls for her…when he returns home..he actually walks past his house and kinda forgets his own address!!
These little things do happen in real life and if you observe the little scenes you just chuckle to yourself!
Movie is slow and seems more slow because you actually feel that one decade has passed…something that interestingly director wants you to feel. Agree, that many scenes are just futile fillers..but then there are many scenes that can melt your heart…the songs are put at right timing..
Role of many actors was not etched well..for e.g. anupam kher..Scotland angle or kargil war was not required.
The movie was about romance between Shahid and Sonam.
Bottom line : All through the movie you never feel that they are in love!
Mr. Pankaj Kapur you should have asked both of them to watch Sahib biwi ghulam – 10 times, and Guru Dutt’s movies – 5-6 times before coming for Mausam shooting.
Shahid has really grown as an actor – he reminds me of Tom Cruise – he was excellent. I admire both Shahid and Sonam – they do not act in “masala” movies to show their acting talent. They respect and celebrate the art of acting. Mausam is a mixture of commercial and an art movie. Well done Pankaj Kapoor.
