Ketan Mehta’s Manjhi has collected Rs 1.4 crore on its opening day at the box office. The fact that the movie leaked on to the internet before its theatrical release, hurt the collections of the film on Day 1.
Reports from theatres is good and business on Saturday has shown decent growth of around 20-30%. Night shows on Saturday and business on Sunday will be important to give the film a chance to do well in the long run.
Not too long ago, there were too many choices for the multiplex audience. Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Baahubali, Drishyam were all running successfully at the same time. But now, with Brothers completely crashing at the box office on its 2nd Friday, a film like ‘Manjhi: The Mountain Man’ has the potential to do well.
