A few multiplexes in Bangalore : Started slow, morning shows were poor (20%).. but has picked up for the afternoon shows (40 – 50%). The word of mouth is good.
Mumbai : In Mumbai too the start was slow (30%) afternoon shows were better. But lower than expected for a big budget film starring Salman Khan.
4:00 PM IST update – Single screens are poor, business has picked up after a slow start this morning. Advance booking for evening shows are good. Critic reviews and audience reactions are pretty positive.
7:15 PM IST update – Business has doubled for the evening and night shows. Few screens at select multiplexes in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai are sold out (shows are 9PM). For those curious, Aladin looks almost certain to be a disaster, unless it picks up on Saturday and Sunday.
11:00 PM IST update – Day 1 at multiplexes was mixed for London Dreams. Collections improved drastically during the later half of the day at multiplexes. Not doing too well on single screens. More updates tomorrow, stay tuned.

Saturday updates
Bangalore – Good business at multiplexes throughout the day, especially INOX and PVR Cinemas. Single screens aren’t too great in Bangalore.
Mangalore (Karnataka) – Fantastic collections at Big Cinemas (Bharat Mall). When we contacted the Manager of the multiplex he said “London Dreams is doing well, family audiences are loving it, collections should improve further on Sunday. Aladin opened very poorly, around 10% occupancy for the Morning show on Saturday. Its targeted at the kids and Sunday being a holiday, we expect a better response.”
Mumbai – Much like Bangalore, Business has picked up after a slow start on Friday. Sunday is expected to be even better.
Overall, all India business for the first 2 days should be around Rs 100 million (10 crores – nett gross).

Sunday updates – Appreciation from the youth and family audience alike has resulted in excellent collections on Sunday all over. Doubled the collections of Saturday, which is a good sign. The weekend business is around 15 – 17 crores.

Monday – The India Australia cricket match has affected collections. Overall Week 1 collections are expected to be somewhere between 24 – 28 crores, which is good. Much like Blue, second week is crucial for London Dreams. But unlike Blue which had no competition in its second week, two biggies release this Friday – Jail and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. While Jail wouldn’t prove to be much of a competition, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s APKGK would be the first choice next week. Will London Dreams show life this weekend or end up being an average grosser, remains to be seen.
Tuesday – Bad news! The collections have dropped after recording decent collections on Monday. The drop was expected (since Monday was a holiday) but with 2 big releases coming up, the show-count would reduce drastically at multiplexes for London Dreams. A HIT seems highly unlikely now. Open second week would have been ideal. Lifetime nett gross should struggle to touch 40 crores in India.

Updates: London Dreams crashed further on Wednesday and Thursday. The first day of Week 2 (Friday) saw a drop of more than 75% compared to its first Friday. Lifetime nett gross should be under 31 – 32 crores which would be way below expectations. Below average / Flop likely. Very disappointing.

Punit- ha ha no hard feelings bro.. i know concept matters but akshay does give a gud openin. tasveer was not promoted well enough n it was released durin that producer multiplex strike so it was affected. hope u agree.;) ya wanted has collected 60 cr net so far. salman s a great actor and in LD he has done a fantabulous job:) but the movie lacks somethin especially music n sometimes a bit borin also. as far as Wanted s concerned only salman suits to that character radhe… n thats hw he s real life.. takin panga wit many..;) so ppl liked it. had seen that movie in tamil n telugu also. so i didnt find it so excitin as it was scene to scene dress to dress copy;)

London dreams is extremely good movie with best performance by salman khan. It will do a good buisness. Reviews are good and mostly ppl liking it.

Faud, overseas collections will only be known in a couple of days. If it (nett) grosses 45 – 47 crores in India it should be a clean hit.
About the awards lets wait and watch. If its between London and Wanted – Salman should win it for Wanted. Shahid for Kaminey is still the top contender though..
WOOOOOOW!!! what a movie LONDON DREAMS ROCKS, after my friends told me I watched it and it is complete entertainer. Salman-Asin-Ajay are jus awesome. I say what vipul shah the director has managed to get out of salman and ajay could not have been done by johars or chopras.

Punit tasveer was released during producer multiplex strike….. it wasn’t a promoted movie and not massy, salman has everything going for his LD with good WOM and budget and still the opening is 30%???? How can you compare salman to akki bhai with that sort of opening. Punit just wait for DDD, not big cost film it will be the biggest hit of 2009 until 3idiots.

srjon akki is the best commedian currently and obviously the best action hero, no one compares him to that, he changed the action forever. srjon salman was big in 90s but how many hits does he have after 90s? Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, No Entry, Partner and Wanted are his only hits after 90s. All his films after 90s grossed less than akki’s movie, from dhadkan to Singh Is King.

1. Sallu has been a superstar for 20 years. Akki for bout 3-4 years.
2. A lot of da films u have mentioned which did well (Farhad) were not just down to Akshay. (MSK, Bhagham Bhag, PHP, Welcome, Dhadkhan, HP, APD etc)
3. IMO Govinda is far better at comedy dan Akki.
4. whether he iz da best action hero is a matter of opinion. i admire his action abilities coz he iz probably da most energetic star in Bollywood.
5. a lot of stars including Salman say dat Akshay is da most improved actor.
6. if u compare both actors careers u will find dat Salman is da more successful.
7. i maybe a Salman fan but i am not biased in my views. Sallu has been involved in some pathetic films for da last 5 years or so. Akshay has been involved in good projects hence da good results.
8. BUT even extremely poor films like hello, heroes etc got some notice due to Sallu’s presence.
9. da sayin iz true to some extent dat every actor should be treated according to dere last film. SO, BLUE for AK and LD for Salman.
10. AND yes DDD does look extremely promising considering da track record of da actors involved BUT it is not just AK film just like LD is not just Salman’s film.

London dreams…is a bad movie..expected climax..nothing new in d story..how can u guys lyk dis kind of muvie..this muvie is a absolute disaster..very bad movie..pls don’t watch it..
Naveed, akshay was pretty much hot with the press even back in the 90s, he was called the media tiger, he had flops but was repeated in lead roles, he was still a star, how can you forget Mohra which had one of greatest musical scrore, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Khiladi perhaps the best suspense murder thrillers of 1990s directed by abass mustaan.
I like sallu, i like amir but hate srk who i also liked.
By the way akki always generates big opening, thats why it doesn’t end up flop like blue and kambakkht ishq.
Sharukh has 11 clean hits post 90s, akshay has 10 and with De Dana Dan would make it equal. I know De Dana Dan has Blockbuster written all over it, with an eid release, and not big budget like Blue and kambakkht Ishq, should easily be a a hit in 4 days.
akki was nowhere near superstar position untill 2005………….nd salman has been holding dat position since 1989………….how can one even compare dese 2…………..i again repeat, akki has become popular only by means of his comedian roles, he z very good in comedy, no doubt in dat, but dats it………….even if govinda starred dose film, dey would have brought da same result………….hum ko dewaana kar gaye, insaan, bewaafa, cc2c, tasveer, all have become disasters without his comedy………….now can u imagine anybody except salman khan in roles like tere naam, wanted, partner, nd so on…….( dnt mentioning 90s, it will be a too big list )…………..DDD will be a hit 4 sure, again a comedy film from akki, nd obviosly priyadarshan factor will certainly work…………but comparing salman with akki z useless……….he was, is nd will be da demi god nd none can replace him……………London Dreams will be a big hit nd if dis year he z not showered with awards, den it will be unjustice to a true legend of bollywood
