London Dreams Box office updates

All London Dreams Box office updates will be published here.

A few multiplexes in Bangalore : Started slow, morning shows were poor (20%).. but has picked up for the afternoon shows (40 – 50%). The word of mouth is good.

Mumbai : In Mumbai too the start was slow (30%) afternoon shows were better. But lower than expected for a big budget film starring Salman Khan.

4:00 PM IST update – Single screens are poor, business has picked up after a slow start this morning. Advance booking for evening shows are good. Critic reviews and audience reactions are pretty positive.

7:15 PM IST update – Business has doubled for the evening and night shows. Few screens at select multiplexes in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai are sold out (shows are 9PM). For those curious, Aladin looks almost certain to be a disaster, unless it picks up on Saturday and Sunday.

11:00 PM IST update – Day 1 at multiplexes was mixed for London Dreams. Collections improved drastically during the later half of the day at multiplexes. Not doing too well on single screens. More updates tomorrow, stay tuned.

Saturday updates

Bangalore – Good business at multiplexes throughout the day, especially INOX and PVR Cinemas. Single screens aren’t too great in Bangalore.

Mangalore (Karnataka) – Fantastic collections at Big Cinemas (Bharat Mall). When we contacted the Manager of the multiplex he said “London Dreams is doing well, family audiences are loving it, collections should improve further on Sunday. Aladin opened very poorly, around 10% occupancy for the Morning show on Saturday. Its targeted at the kids and Sunday being a holiday, we expect a better response.”

Mumbai – Much like Bangalore, Business has picked up after a slow start on Friday. Sunday is expected to be even better.

Overall, all India business for the first 2 days should be around Rs 100 million (10 crores – nett gross).

*********************************

Sunday updates – Appreciation from the youth and family audience alike has resulted in excellent collections on Sunday all over. Doubled the collections of Saturday, which is a good sign. The weekend business is around 15 – 17 crores.

*********************************

Monday – The India Australia cricket match has affected collections. Overall Week 1 collections are expected to be somewhere between 24 – 28 crores, which is good. Much like Blue, second week is crucial for London Dreams. But unlike Blue which had no competition in its second week, two biggies release this Friday – Jail and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. While Jail wouldn’t prove to be much of a competition, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s APKGK would be the first choice next week. Will London Dreams show life this weekend or end up being an average grosser, remains to be seen.

Tuesday – Bad news! The collections have dropped after recording decent collections on Monday. The drop was expected (since Monday was a holiday) but with 2 big releases coming up, the show-count would reduce drastically at multiplexes for London Dreams. A HIT seems highly unlikely now. Open second week would have been ideal. Lifetime nett gross should struggle to touch 40 crores in India.

*********************************

Updates: London Dreams crashed further on Wednesday and Thursday. The first day of Week 2 (Friday) saw a drop of more than 75% compared to its first Friday. Lifetime nett gross should be under 31 – 32 crores which would be way below expectations. Below average / Flop likely. Very disappointing.

  • First weekend – 15 crores
  • Week 1 – 23 crores
  • Week 2 – 7 crores

Total in 2 Weeks – 30 crores

Box office Verdict – FLOP

    • reports r not very positive… this movie s gonna settle for average business i guess.. usually post diwali movies slow down.. saturday n sunday `ll be gud but monday `ll show big drop n next wk ajab prem.. jail comin so tuff luck for aladin n london dreams. this movie`s budget s said to be 50cr. so tuff… overseas it `ll be a semi -hit or hit i guess.

    • i sow london dream, and it is extreamly good and music also.it start opening slow but afternoon it took good.london dream will easily get hit.salman ajay asin done great job.vipul shaha direct very well.

    • i sow london dream.it is vary good movi and music also.it start slow at morning but afternoon it take good curve.salman asin ajay done fantastic job.it will easily get hit.vipul shaha diract vary well.

    • as i said yesterday it will take slow start but it will pick up so dont worry abt LD it will be pick n i think 1st week will get abt 25 cr.

    • London Dreams has shown improvement in business at multiplexes. The afternoon and early evening shows are are around 50-55% while late evening and night shows should be even better at around 65-70%. The jump is not huge but its a steady improvement as the day goes on.

Single screens are not fairing as well and will finish the day at around 40-45%. The first day all India average will be around 55-60% mark which will mean an average first day.

Aladin has seen awful collections all day in the 10-20% mark on limited showings. The film will turn out a huge disaster unless there is a big turnaround quickly.

    • Amish, London Dreams belongs to a totally different genre from Jail. So none of the releases, including Blue and All the Best will be affected by its release.

Its Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani that LD would compete against.

    • wen new movies come screens `ll be reduced na… wateva… i `ve some doubts bout this movie becomin a superhit… some r likin it very much.. some r not.. ppl who say its a blockbuster r mainly salman`s die hard fans. weak point bout this movie s its music.. climax also was draggin.. wen u come out of theater 2nd half makes a lot of impact.. if thats borin or draggin u feel full movie s just ok…

    • wow……are the three words for LONDON DREAMS….first time sallu does a effortless comic role..first wanted now london dreams…..salmaan u rocks buddy..this movie is fantastic..the song barso re is mindblowing….ajay devgan……if its abt serious acting thn no 1 cn do better thn ajay….he shows this in film…..totally paisa wasool movie..a must watch movie……guys blv me u’ll hv a really grt tym.

    • LONDON DREAMZ is a very gud movie…Ajay Devgan has done it once again and Salman Khan has done a decent job though I really feel he should not try to play a Punjabi Guy in future because his way of speaking and acting doesn’t really match to the acsent of Punjab…but he is a very gud actor and all credit to him for taking up the challenges….Asin has done a very gud job…Gudluck to her….she has looked really amazing much better than she looked in Ghajini….the story is good…acting part by everybody is excellent…music is very good….its a big land scape cinema….I like it….and wish London Dreams All the best…..

    • indicine aap plz london dreams movie k director and producer ko ye baat bata do ki LD movie k jo promos every channels par aatey hain usmain se 98% promos main 30 oct. date show nahi hoti.
producers n directors ko 30 oct. date highlight karni chahiye in every promos.jaisa ki har film k promos main hota hai.eg-apkgk,de dana dan, jail etc.

    • Aladin had a very dull start of 10-20% on its first day. The reports are not good and the film will probably need a miracle to recover its heavy costs.

London Dreams managed to have an average first day with around 55-60% collections on day one. The film had better collections in the evening. Business in single screens lags multiplexes. The reports are decent but it remains to be seen if it can have that big jump in collections for it to succeed. It has advantage of holiday on Monday but there will be two new releases next week which will take away screen space.
All The Best was rock steady in week 2 with around 13 crore nett collection. The film has now collected 35 crore nett in two weeks. Mumbai has been by far the best circuit and the film is a hit in Mumbai circuit. Overall ABOVE AVERAGE

Blue has fallen heavily in week two with around 8 crore nett collections. The two week nett collections are 38.50 crore and the film is likely to finish at around 42 crore nett and a share of 23 crore. AVERAGE

Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna is a huge loser with around 40 lakhs in week two. The two week nett is around 7.75 crore. DISASTER

Wake Up Sid takes picks up in week four with around 1.75 crore nett. It has taken its four week business to 27.50 crore nett. SEMI HIT

nw thats wat akshay kumar can do for a movie;)

    • AMISH, if akshay can guarantee a good opening, then why his movie 8×10 tasveer opened to jz 15-20%. BLUE got a good opening bcz of d concept not akshay kumar. In d two weeks it jst collected 42crore net. And jst 32 crore in its first weekend. WANTED in its first week itself crossed 36 crore net & its two week total was around 53 crore net & itz d first blockbuster of 2009… Itz d concept matters not hype makes d movie hit or flop. I hope u dnt mind these figures….

    • @ Amish, u just copied it from BoxofficeIndia.com…dat’s just a figure of Lucknow…First let da movie struggle wid All The Best…LD has a long way to go..it has just started in BO..

    • salman bhai u r the best and your movies wanted and london dreams ar block buster of 2009 and u r the biggest super star in bolywood and u r fans heart soooo. keep it up sallu bhaya. u r fans anytime wait for u r up cooming movies……. east ya west salman khan is the best
