The first review of Bombay Velvet is out and it’s from Kalki Koechlin! In an interview, the actress has said that she has already watched the film and loved it!
Here’s what she has to say about the Anurag Kashyap directed film:

Ranbir is absolutely stunning. I love him in the film. Even Anushka. She’s looking beautiful.
The songs are beautiful. The set is so believable. They have managed to make it really look like Bombay in the 1960s.
Karan Johar is really funny in the film. I never thought he was an actor, but he is!
It’s a very different film for Anurag. He’s really gone out on the romantic angle, which he usually doesn’t invest in, in his films. So I’m excited for him.

Anurag imo is a mediocre director n for that reason I wouldnt have trusted him with a budget this huge n asking him to fo a period film is like asking Shetty Sir to do a Devdas type film or King to underact…. Hes a misfit for BV- will ruin the subject n take the plot A to Z skipping the 24 characters in between…!
And here comes Bombay velvet’s 2nd review..from babaji-
BV is a sheer waste of time with no story,it is just the story of how bombay looked in the 1960s,ranbir has once again disappointed but still his performance is a li’l better than besharam one. Anushka luks disinterested as if her mind was on cricket field.
KJo is spectacular,even better than his AIB performance.
But the credit goes to VFX..I mean it will put big budget h’wood films to shame after all it took 2yrs..
So overall 1.5 stars..
Verdict: flop
Once u see it u jus cant say bad of it ..u must say it fo fren sake ..!! Rest in peace ..I dont want to spread bad wom here but ranbir is not superstar like 3 khans, devgan sir, akshya sir n mr roshan ..!! These r the true gem of indian cinema !! Rest all youngistan stay where u are ..!! U guys jus cant flip on top ..dont ever try to compete with these all ..these superstars r here more than decades n will be fo more decades ..!! So u kalka launda so called youngistaan give respect do salma whenever they pass besides you ..yeah sab baap log hai ..RESPECT ……!!!

Nb shahid has done lots of versatile roles among his peers…very important criteria to pursue superstardom. Rk shd leave romance emotional and try other genres…comedy..action ..political revolution.. army.. gareeb boy role..villain etc can’t jus rely on youth love movies apart from rajneeti and barfi… Go on explore your talents then we can judge justification of his stardom though for now no doubts…he has merited it

My Badlapur Review. Well….not review but you can call it an analysis of it. I will dissect the whole movie into it’s different aspects or features. the total scale’s value will be equal to 10. I will also explain them and at the end say whether I recommend it or not. Let’s go….
1) Plot/Story- 2.0/3.0
It has one of the most engaging story I have ever seen! The story stays true to the Genre and was every bit what I expected! The story takes many turns and is twisty so it should be watched very carefully. The climax was supposed to be death defying as expected but it was handld really well. Let’s face it, if they changed the climax to what people wanted then it would have been the same as Ek Villain. PS The murder scene was just awesome and totally unexpected!!!
2)Acting/Casting-0.7/1.0
The whole team did a great job but it was Varun who stole the show!!! The girls in the movies were also good in there job but I felt Naseruddin was weak in this as everyone praised him to death and I was expecting more!!! These performances kept the plot interesting and hats off to who ever decided to cast Varun!!!
3)Music/Background Score- 1.0/1.0 h
I just love Atif Aslam!!! The background score was the best so far in 2015 and this was the years best album so far as well! Enough said!
4) Directing/Editing-1/2
It is directed in a great way but the editing was lacking somewhat of a punch!!!
5)Costume/Location-0.9/1.0
Everything was great except in one scene Varun looked like a child when he was supposed to be in his 35s!!!
6)Dialogues/Dialogue Delivery- 1/1
So far in the so-called”Youngistaan” team, Varun has the best delivery! Actually, all the dialogues were good and did not feel forced!
7) Trailer Expectations- 0.5/1 ( This the part where I loose my cool)
The trailer did not mention anything about there being S*x scenes. If they did mention the movie would have collected at least 10Cr more as it sells. On the other damn hand, I as planning to watch it with my mother as she loves these kinds of revenge-mystery-drama movies but thank god I decided to go with my friends instead! There should be a prior warning!!!
8)Entertainment Value- 0.7/1
This is whether it was Paisa Vasool or not. Guess what? It was!
Total- 7.8/10 (Baby got 9.3/10)
Recommend it? If you liked Ek Villain, KICK or Talaash as well any of the director or actor’s previous works, go for it!!

Amazed at seeing people lambasting a sincere attempt even without seeing it! While I don’t like the excessive gore in Anurag’s filmsp, let’s not bash him, he is trying to do something different. He has overshot the film, made it on a budget of more than 100 crores which is nearly 25 times the budget of his regular films. We should at least hope for the best!
All the best to Ranbir, Karan and Anurag. Hope they come up with something spectacular. After all Kashyap is the guy behind the decade defying Black Friday.
