Kalam tweet was a honest mistake: Anushka

“Bombay Velvet” actress Anushka Sharma, who got a dose of trolls on social media after she she wrongly wrote A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s name while paying respects to the former president on Twitter, on Wednesday termed it an “honest mistake”.

“It was an honest mistake. My intentions were not bad and I had good intentions. It was a human error and humans do make mistakes,” she told media persons at an event as brand ambassador for Pantene.

Anushka got her tweet wrong not once, but twice before finally getting it right in the third attempt. First, she called him “ABJ Abdul Kalam Azad’, and then made it “APJ Abdul Kalam Azad” before finally, the right name: APJ Abdul Kalam. She had subsequently deleted the tweet but it couldn’t escape the scrutiny on Twitter.

Surprisingly, actor Farhan Akhtar also made the error of adding Azad to Kalam’s name while giving his tribute which surprisingly wasn’t trolled as much as Anushka was made fun of.

It was not an honest mistake but I was drinking and tweeting just like my Inspiration : Salman Khan.
    Sorry

  • I don’t think there was need of such a article . Anyways yes it can be a mistake but the fact is the mistake happened not once but twice so this is a huge mistake . She should have checked before posting the tweet . I always check my comments before posting them . I hope she learns from her mistake quickly and never repeat such a mistake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She should be more careful before tweeting about any luminary. If you aren’t able to spell the President’s name correctly you will be trolled

  • 90% Indians do not know the full name of APJ Abdul Kalam bcz its a long name. then why only Anushka?

  • @indicine – I know that, probably anushka too… she might got confused between the 2 names. :P
same type of name, both are great men, both are Bharat Ratna.

  • Anyone remembers Suresh Kalmadi (of Commonwealth games imfamy) also addressed Mr. ex-President as Abdul Kalam Azad in a much publicised goof-up in 2010.

  • @anushka please stay away from virat kohli and let him concentrate on cricket.virats performance is going down nowadays
