As per early estimates, Kai Po Che has collected around 26.5 crores in it’s first week at the box office. The film opened to 50% occupancy on Friday, showed huge growth in business on Saturday and ran to packed houses on Sunday to collect Rs 16 crores in it’s first weekend.
Then came the weekdays, and Kai Po Che passed the test with flying colours. The film only dropped by 20% on Monday and remained steady through the remaining weekdays. In fact, the occupancy on Monday and Tuesday were about the same as Friday, but with the normal reduction in ticket prices for the weekdays, the collections were slightly lower.
At places where the film is doing well (Mumbai, Mysore, West Bengal and other multiplex-dominated cities), Kai Po Che has been given more shows than this week’s release I Me Aur Main. So expect the film to remain steady during it’s second week too!
Overall, the film is a winner for director Abhishek Kapoor and his team. For a movie without stars, the first week figures are very good!
