This is not a movie review but the review of a television serial on the epic Mahabharat by Ekta Kapoor.
I was eagerly looking foward to Ekta Kapoor’s version of Mahabharath titled Kahani Hamare Mahabharat Ki, so much so that I even paid for an add-on package from Tata Sky just to catch Mahabharat every night from Monday to Thursday. Was expecting something not just bigger than the previous Mahabharat by B.R. Chopra, but a better product overall. Very high expectations, i know!
I became a fan of Mahabharat mainly due to the spectacular and historic Mahabharat of those good old days directed by B.R. Chopra and Ravi Chopra. The epic was aired every sunday morning, for 2 years between 1988 – 1990. The great thing about it was every character seemed to be born to play their role. Mukesh Khanna was brilliant as Bheeshma, when you think of Lord Krishna the picture of Nitish Bhardwaj in those costumes still comes to mind. Every other character right from Duryodhan (Puneet Issar), Arjun (Arjun), Shakuni (Gufi Paintal), Bhim (Praveen Kumar), Dhritrashtra (Girja Shankar), Draupadi (Rupa Ganguly), Karna (Pankaj Dheer), Yudhistir, Nakul, Sahadev and even Drona were just perfect for their roles. Its like you cant imagine anyone else in those legendary roles.
So it was an uphill task for Ekta Kapoor right from the day she decided to remake the epic. After the first episode that was telecasted last night on 9X at 9 PM, i was sorely disappointed.
It looked like a normal Ekta Kapoor’s Saas Bahu serial! To start off it wasnt realistic, atleast Ekta Kapoor should have had a look at Jodhaa Akbar, a costume drama which was presented in a very realistic way by Ashutosh Gowariker.
The camera was rolling all over the faces from every angle possible, a lot of thundering, lightening and noise. The characters from whatever little we got to see of them, just didnt look the character, they looked like models with a perfectly toned body in a costume drama for a historical. Maybe its too early to judge them, time will tell. The costumes except for Duryodhan’s was pretty good.
Coming to the performances, Anita Hansandani as draupadi, one of the most important characters in Mahabharat, was horrible. Dialogue delivery was the biggest flaw. She shrieked at the top of her voice, cried like she does in all those saas bahu series and in comparison to Rupa Ganguly, failed miserably. The intensity in her performance was just lacking. She made the strong character of Draupadi look weak! Shakuni is bald, he was pretty good although his laughter was sometimes annoying. Dushassan looked evil, performed well. Duryodhan looked like a evil superman in those costumes. Dont want to comment on Aryan Vaid’s performance just yet, more on him in the coming days!
Overall, after one episode it has been a major disappointment. Hopefully Ekta Kapoor can make it more realistic and Anita can improve her performance! Will keep updating this post, who knows the characters might grow on me and my opinion might change.

Episode 2 (8th July 2008) – Ved Vyas starts narrating the epic tale of Mahabharat to Lord Ganesh. Shantanu is smitten by Ganga’s beauty, accepts all her conditions and marries her. Ganga kills his sons one after another, till their 8th son, Bheeshma is born. The pace is fantastic, doesnt drag like most historicals. Performances were top notch today. Saakshi Tanwar, Parvathi of Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, looks ethereal as Ganga. Kiran Karmarkar, Om of Kahani, is perfect for the role of Shantanu. The locales of Ladakh are breath taking. I still hate the excessive background music, thundering and camera zooming in on the faces of actors. How i wish, Ekta makes it slightly more realistic and different from her daily soaps. More tomorrow.. Today’s episode rating – 8 / 10.
Episode 3 (9th July 2008) – Shantanu breaks his promise, questions Ganga. Ganga reveals her identity and goes into detail about the curse that they got from Brahma, also the curse of the 7 kids that she eventually killed by drowning them into the pure water of River Ganga. She takes Devavrat (Bheeshma) their 8th son with her, promising Shantanu that she would return him back to the place he belongs to, when the king of Hastinapur needs him. Devavrat is trained and educated by Parashuram. Devavrat, now 16, returns to Hastinapur and blocks the waterflow of Ganga with his arrows… That ends the 3rd episode of the epic Mahabharat.
The 3rd episode was much slower in pace compared to the 2nd, filled with excessive dialogues and unnecessary special effects. Performances were once again good. The actor portraying the role of young Devavrat, suits the character. 3rd episode rating – 5 / 10
Episode 4 (10th July 2008) – Devavrat and his father battle, Ganga intervenes and reveals their identity to each other. Devavrat is now committed to his father and Hastinapur. 16 more years pass by and Devavrat has now matured..
The 4th episode was like Kanav said in the comments below, a complete disaster. The background music is deafening, trademark Ekta Kapoor slo-mo effects and camera work continue to irritate. A realistic feel, so very important for a historical is completely missing. 4th episode rating – 3 / 10
I respect what Aditya Danait, says as he likes Ekta’s Mahabharath ,but Aditya you cannot say we don’t know how the costumes used to be at that point of time.
Well if you are showing Mahabharath, then it is your responsibility that you read it first.
Mahabharat is a very long epic writtern in Sanskrit. I think you have not read a single novel , even in small novels like Pride and prejudice , characters are so well defined , like Jane in p&p is beautiful while her younger sister is handsome ,(handsome for girl means attractive though not pretty), this specific word is used by jane austen for elizabeth(Aishwarya in Bride&Prejudice) , you will see that the portrayal of protagonists is well taken care of by every author. They not only describe the physical aspects of the characters , but their dispositions as well. I have got sankshipt Mahabharath of few thousand pages ,. In some passages even colours are told ; like when subhadra meets Draupadi the first time , she has worn red dress like a gwalin and she says that she is servant of Draupadi, Never would you read that there was a headband, which is worn by every character in ekta’s mahabharath. Sorry I have to disagree with you in costumes , you cannot take liberty in dressing them like greeks , you can have crowns of different shapes but headbands are totally unacceptable.
The ambika- ambalika swaymvyar episode was ok(the highest level of ekta’s mahbharatha) , though an unnecessarily added comic darbari left no stones to ruin the show.
One more thing which i am reminded while answering you that somewhere in mahabharat either in rajsuya yajna or somewhere else Duryodhan makes fun of Bheem , he says him he is impotent , who does not have moustaches ; so the point is Duryodhan should have moustaches while bheem should be clean shaven. Poor Ekta missed this point also. When you make serials”on epic , these act as references and every production house consults many sources , for example if Ramayan is being made , ramayan , ramcharitmanas , kadam ramayan and etc etc. Just watch Discovery even a single hour episode is well researched .Ekta jumped into making Mahabharath , but did not care to read even a shankshipt mahabharat, if people think sets do not matter or costumes do not matter or language does not matter , then I think epic does not matter , don’t use word Mahabharath in that and make any bull … for people who would enjoy disfiguring our culture. If a bhai is not able to understand hindi , then should duryodhan say draupdi kya maal hai ? I simply don’t think so , epics should raise standards not to subside standards.
very well said siddharth, adding to your points, i think that the whole idea of showing an epic story is to teach people of the values that were innate in the story, each episode should be teaching something, i really liked the concept used by BR chopra, of using Time as the narrator which squeezed the teachings of each episode and so wonderfully tied modern times with those times (if they existed). regarding the use of language, i guess ekta ne draupadi ko shringaar karte hue isliye dikhaya hoga kyunki woh soch nahi paa rahi hogi ki woh same dialogues (BR chopra wale) use karey bina kaise bole ki woh periods mein hai…lol isliye usne storyline hi change kardi. main to soch raha hoon gita updesh ke time pe yeh kaise dialogue use karne wali hai. bhagwaan bachaaye.
Well informed Siddharth .perhaps this was the reason why duryodhan had moustaches in BR mahabharath.No doubt BR mahabharata was well researched.Poor ekta make your duryodhan with moustaches.Very informative Siddharth

Yeah.. you are right Siddharth.. I havent read any novel and hence I didnt know that the characters and their costumes are so well defined!

I would also like to add few points as ,dress wored by ekta’s mahabharat is not at all applicable neithe rgreek clothes or or headbands wored by all characters.I have also read novels about mahabharat.It is well mentioned of dressing styles of kings plus there “Mukuts” which were one of the prestigious things for the king.There is no mukut for any character.Mahabharat is not just a serial its an epic ,its a story of India…Mahabharat has all ingredients of movie like lord of rings with can be seen into many parts.We are fortunat that we have seen BR chopra’s mahabharat which is really the best and true description of this story,however if our genrations will see this mahabharat with greeek dressups,unreal headbands…6 pack abs actors or models as kauravs ,pandavs and bheesms…it will not give them true picture of the story…
As usual Ekta Kapoor’s another Backwash serial… She did not left Mahabharata also..As usual..fully faltoo costume and vulgar style dialogs…..What else all of us can expect from this Sash-Bahu queen…Ekta ka bash chale to woh Bhisma ki bhi shaddi karde..jaise har serial main 3-4 baar shaddi karwati hain….
Ekta stop doing this kind of injustice to Mahabharat….. Mahabharat yah koi Greek story hain yeh..spend some money on coustume..bichare ladko ko thoda kapde dedo… Naga mat ghumao…

Finally the verdict has come , greek mahabharat is not getting high TRPS , thankfully.The problem with this Mahabharat that it is looking contemporary and not the old one , the credit goes to dialogues , “jahan tumhara man basa hai wahin tumhara ghar basega” so daily soap like light dialogues. One interesting thing which I would like to share with you guys is there is one passage in Mahabharath about Kalki avtar( which is to be appeared at the end of the kalyug) . I read it long ago and there were some points which I thought could not happen in my lifetime
ie. puberty of boys will reach at as low as 6-8 years.Yesterday while answering in yahoo answers , there was a question that the cousin of one has attained puberty at 7 , which nearly shocked me.Though the asker was foreign in origin, yet we can assume that the same will happen in India in about 10 years, so we may get the chance to see real Kalki and not the greek dressed krishna in this absurd Mahabharath.
i jst saw the 5th episode clippings on youtube,, ohh gosh where do i being from, its preposterous, really heinous form of telling an epic story. the yuvraj is announced in the palace gardens and not the royal court, u dont even do that to a prime minister now, he is nominated by the president himself in the rashtrapati bhawan. lol, dashraj invitation to shantanu, its friggin ridiculous, pick up the mahabharat book bitch.. read it for god’s sake. and that dashraj was looking more well dressed than the king himself. lol.. maybe the classes worked the other way round in ekta’s mahabharat. and they have portrayed devvrat as a grey character so far, fighting unknowingly with his father, hitting an elephant. she cud save that for pandavs and kauravs coz they were known to be arrogant princes, not devvrat. needless, to say makrand deshpande has done disservice to himself by acting this stupidly. his narration is so annoying, he is tryin to teach in every sentence, ekta shud wait for a whole event and by the way we dont want to see ganesh writing the story every now and then. cudn’t ved vyas recite it in the background. and that dialogue between dashraj and shantanu has been made so dramatic, i would be surprised if devvrat doesnt get to know abt this for few weeks as mentioned in mahabharat. please do something abt this serial, file a PIl or get ekta killed.. dont let her make fun of this story. i dont believe in god, but i love mahabharat for the plot and all the characters. if ved vyas was a stroy writer, then he was the best ever to be born on Indian soil.

Somehow.. I am enjoying this show as it gives the much needed break from the other saas-bahu and reality shows! But after reading the comments over here, especially by Siddharth and others who post their knowledge about Mahabharat (instead of criticizing Ekta) i have learnt that what we are seeing is portrayed in a format which is much different than the real.
Please Ekta, employ some people to research on Mahabharat and execute the show so that it matches viewer’s expectations!
Ekta… we love you and your shows.. we would definitely not like if your shows are closed down…

Thursday ‘s episode was again the masala added episode.Shakuni and his wife , one of the downside of the episode ,’mujhe maike bhej do ” and many stupid soap like dialogues.Come on Ekta , Shakuni was a prince not any roadside seller.Regardless of the character , princes and princesses have another level of dignity which even middle class people do not have.Just watch Maharani Gayatri Devi of jAIPUR and her husband , so graceful and dignified. Their stance , speech ,words every thing of them has dignity.
Even in high class society , rules are much sophisticated like not laughing loudly in public , control of emotions and myriad others.
So shakuni looking so sadakchaap.
Every nation follows some rules ,like in India the single largest party with mandate is invited to form a government and the leader of the party is elected as Prime Minister.
Ekta added masala while throning Pandu , as Dhritrashtra was expecting himself to be throned.Why would he so , right from his birth , he knew that he was not eligible for King .Was Dhritrashtra not told in his schooling ? rajneeti ,shastra gyan used to be the integral part of prince education. .Bheeshm said Pandu will be the king and all were shocked .Is throning ceremony so unplanned that no body knows as who is to be throned.
Ekta Mahabharat itself is so masaledar , with illegitimate sons, conspiracies ,lust etc why do you add further?
The set of gandhari’s room was really very poor.Dull set with sth like colourful drains. Colors are lacking everywhere and drains have colors ,whose stupid creativity is this?Shakuni has been shown so loud , I think he should be very subtle ,a not so physically powerful, but vengenance and plotting in mind sth like slow poison. Though I could not recall if I have read anything about Sahkuni’s physical characters, but when BR showed it as a defective leg person , he should be , but I am not sure of this. What Shakuni was doing with his dices and hands in Gandhari’s room , is still incomprehensible , was he doing yoga , or calling someone with invisible links. A strong villian is looking like a cartoon.
Film Industry ‘s fav color is black , all actresses wear it especially in nights bcoz dark dress in dark night eludes your waistline , in short it is said you look thinner in black.but Manish Malhotra this is not bollywood , black dhoti , black dresses at the auspicious occassion of throning ceremony.Manish Malhotra should be kicked off.Gandhari’s wedding dress was white(I could not see any red border also ), red is indispensable color for bride ,even Bengalis wear white but that too have red border.
Tina Munim attracted the attention of Ambani , when she came wearing black dress in someone’s wedding. Anil said he was surprised as how could one wear black in someone’s wedding ,Manish Malhotra took another step making Dhritrashtra wearing black in his own marriage.Manish come out of Bollywood.
The funniest is mother of vidur , pentagon like shapes round her neck. Pandu is looking someone like 4th grade worker of any school , with no makeup and built ,Dhritrashtra has choti . Thrones are like wires in a place which was called sone ki chidiya ,Production values are too low .Yesterday caught a glimpse of Krishna on colours another sagar production , the wedding ceremony of Devki was stupendous , so many colours and opulence, that’s what India was and is so colourful.
We must praise Aditya , because he is one person who is open for all ideas , he is not bigot with his viewpoint , he reads, thinks and reacts which most people do not , if they have set sth in their mind they do’nt change it , sometimes they make it a prestige point but Aditya is a genuine person
This Series is getting more and more horrible as the story progresses…. HORRIBLE casting…. Initially seeing the promos i thought this version will be very good. after seeing 2-3 episodes, i thought ‘its ok’ type and it’ll get better with time. but now i’m feeling its horrible. Its going in opposite direction instead of improvement.
come on guys !!! it has been firmly established that Ekta Kapoor’s Mahabharat is a brainless & horrible version of the Indian epic…however, I feel that she is still a very smart business woman…she knows that the 9 PM prime time slot is majorly watched by the house wives & so she has made sure to provide them with lots of eye candy…this trick will ensure that her TRPs will never drop…all the desperate Indian housewives will be glued to their TV sets and their poor husbands & kids will have no other option but to watch along with them…
To hell with the script !!! to hell with authenticity !!! to hell with good actors & superior dialogue delivery !!! Ekta Kapoor has proved that in today’s world money is all that matters & the means that you employ to earn that does not make any difference…she already knows that a huge chunk of the Indian Junta, especially the real-life Saas Bahus & desperate housewives already watch her irritating daily soaps, as they have nothing better to do with their time…by casting the same set of pathetic actors & actresses in this insipid version of a serial, she has ensured that she has a ready made audience & also cut corners…becoz all the Ronit Roys, Sakshi Tanwars & Kiran Karmarkars would lick her feet to have themselves work in her serials…
BR Chopra’s Mahabharat was superlative & is far, far above this junk….so it is not fair to compare his serial with this travesty…the special effects used by him even in those days was much superior to Ekta kapoor’s…we can say that BR Chopra’s Mahabharat was truly a LABOUR OF LOVE, crafted by him lovingly to perfection…even today I can watch that serial & not feel bored…in fact I have learnt a lot, the philosophical gyan, the perfect portraying of relationships…no wonder people used to go wild about MAHABHARAT in those days & it still ROCKS !!!
Ekta Kapoor on the other hand is nothing better than a PROSTITUTE who has raped the great INDIAN EPIC for her own financial gains…she is a cheapo who shamelessly plagiarises from Hollywood movies (the scene of Devavrat’s childhood fight with the Wolf – a cheap & shoddy frame to frame lift up from the Movie 300)…she seems to have been heavily inspired by Roman & Greek war movies & as such has made up her characters to look like them…she has not wasted her time, money or effort in finding good actors, rather going in for chisselled physiques…that too only for some of the lead characters…the others look like bad, underpaid, demotivated extras, who have no idea how they landed up in front of a camera (Dhirtrashtra, Pandu etc)…Santanu was supposed to be a wise & benevolent king…Ekta’s Santanu looks & acts more like an arrogant tyrant that I feel like kicking his ass…
I accept that we dont know how the kings & warriors of that period used to dress up…however that is no excuse for dressing them up as a mixture of Romans, Greeks…even the Elephant God Ganesha looks squint eyed & surly…Makarand Deshpande as Ved Vyas is more in to dramatics & antics like standing on one leg, while reciting Mahabharat…I wont be surprised, if in some future episode, he stands on his head !!!
The title song of BR Chopra’s Mahabharat was so unique, so divinely beautiful that even today if i hear it somewhere, I feel moved to tears…Ekta Kapoor has opted for some horrible & unconvincing title song, which I cannot recollect right now…
The special effects used in this movie are so silly & cheap, that I am horrified if somebody from another country sees this, they will think that India is still in the stone ages & cannot manage decent special effects…I am sure that things will only deteriorate as this serial goes on…
Ekta Kapoor has ensured that there is no aesthetic, devotional or spiritual appeal in her serial, only mind numbing dramatics, cheap histronics & a commercial venture aimed to make more money…however I am sure that there will still be some dumb, half-witted people glued to watching her serials & praising her…
I saw the Kahani Hamaray Mahabharat Kii episodes lagataar one after the other on sunday night and felt that somehow there is excessive use of blacks in it…
The dasi wearing black was acceptable but the emperors and the Princes wearing black… totally unacceptable!
Well… I had read somewhere that in Kahani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki.. no one is wearing the crowns, instead; they are wearing headbands.. but when I saw Rajmata Satyavati handing over the crown to Bheeshma… the significant difference between other headbands and the crown could be made out… May be they want to show that only emperors and rulers wear crown and everyone else wear some other accessories!
The dialogue writers are doing a good job (sometimes) especially in the scene where Amba was asking Bheeshma to marry her.. Initially she referred to him as “Gangaputra” and always called her as “aap”; but later on when he didnt budge.. she referred him as “Bheeshma” and called him as “tum” while giving that shraap!
Moreover… immediately during that shraap; Draupadi cheerharan scene ran in background- so now i understood that the cheerharan was a result of this shraap! This was a very good task done by the team of KHMK!
There was this episode in which all the Princes entered Hastinapur… but by any angle i didnt realize them being the Princes… their costumes, their body-language, their hairstyles, their accessories… nothing matched the mark for us to consider them to be the Princes!
Currently I am very curious about Shakuni… I am curious to see how they show him in the weeks to come!
Sometimes they are doing good.. sometimes they leave some scope for us to say “it could have been better”

u guys are great comparing both mahabharat nd kahani humare mahabharat ki is not fair.. i can only say this that there is something fresh in it nd i love watching it and to compare it with the older version i bought the dvd of that also but sorry to say old version was too heavy to handle and difficult to understand.. pitashree matashree, etc words god they are so loud and talking abt effects God u forgot those effects when something happened in older version everyone face was showed still with a song background.. i think this time that track BHAKT DHARM SIKHLATI HUMKO YE KATHA MAHABHARAT KI is gud nd easy to remeber even it fills me with positive vibes. Its great and KAHANI HUMARE MAHABHARAT KI ROCKS.. guys if u cn accept sanjay leela bhansali devdas then accept it also. Well we all know the plot, created by Ved Vyas . But the key lies in the treatment. The story of Ekta’s Mahabharat starts from the middle of the actual story- Draupadi Vastraharan. I think it was done in order to catch maximum eye-balls. It then shows Ved Vyas narrating the entire story, beginning from Shantanu and Ganga’s love story..This change in depiction is ok, though wasn’t necessary.
· Most of the mythological serials aired earlier had a slow pace and the characters used to take an eternity to mouth and complete one line of dialogue. Not to mention the innumerable pauses built in for effect.
· But Ekta Kapoor’s KMKH seems to have a good, if not fast, pace so far. Characters are wordy (Sakshi’s dialogues to Shantanu, explaining who she was, took around 15 minutes), but are still better, as compared to the precedents. Also the locales look amazing! The spot where Ganga reveals who she is to Shantanu, was spectacular. I don’t know for sure, but I’m guessing it was shot at Ladakh.
Another shoddy episode of Mahabharth, there is hardly anything which one could enjoy.Cannot understand why ekta tries shakuni to portray as a joker, one of the strong villain , shown so stupid .She showed him with his wife in Hastinapur but his wife was with her son Uloop in gandhar, the stupidity of sankes is one of the worst things which an epic could have. The dress of Gandhari is pathetic , blouse never matches with the saree, Dhritrashtra has only one earring , who the hell is the jewellery designer . After Roman, greeks , ekta this time tried some chinese , with pony tail Pandu was looking like chinese , dear ekta let Indians be Indians. Aditya you found background of cheerharan impressive; when Amba curses Bheeshm , then the thing is if Amba or bheeshm was responsible for Draupadi’s cheerharan , then we can say ganga was responsible for it , so could shantanu and Satyawati.Amba was responsible for Bheeshma’s death , so in background bheeshm on his sharshayya could be the only scene.Anyways all such things are not subtle if not loud , epics should have subtle things , for example watch bandini , there is a scene where nutan has a dilemma to kill ashok kumar’s wife , in the background , an ironsmith is doing his work , his work causes light falls and off her face , thak -thak noise is also coming , she finally decided to kill , light finally goes away her face , and the final and strong thak noise from ironsmith .How beautiful this scene is , nutan ke asmanjas ko luhar ki thak thak or roshni batati hai , final shot main roshni nutan ke face se hatati hai aur luhar ek hathode se apna kaam khatam karta hai.Well you cannot expect VimaL ROY’s finesse with anyone , but such are subtlety and classics.Ekta it has been 10 years now , please bring sth classic , money is not the only thing .
so Duryodhan is born on Monday , if I guess it right as usual ekta’s turn , gandhari , dhritrashtra and all will come to know that yudhishtir is elder than duryodhan after so many lightening and thundering , few episodes later and that too all of sudden , which is wrong .Gandhari gets pregnant ealier then kunti , but after more than one year of pregnency nothing comes out from her womb , after knowing yudhishtir has born , she hits her womb and then after medication only a mass of flesh comes out ,which is divided into 100 pieces by ved vyas and thus kauravas are born , duryodhan was born the same day when bheem was born.
Jackal’s crying is an evil omen not a wolf’s .Ekta take some bio classes ,earlier you showed that creature(300 copied creature) as wolf now jackal , some day you will show cow as buffalo and buffalo as cow. God what is ekta , a duffer or a shrewd business woman who can go to any extent for money. As harish told earlier Ekta wants people say Dude make another version of Ekta’s Mahabharath after 20 years , but I think after 20 years people would say dude make any dud but not like ekta’s Mahabharatha
Well Siddharth… seems you got me wrong… I said the cheerharan scene in background to be impressive because there was a scene in which Amba said, “Main Kashinaresh ki jyesht putri Amba.. tumhein ye shraap deti hu ke jis tarah aaj mera apamaan hua hai.. usi tarah poore Hastinapur ke saamne tumhari bhi kul ke ek stri ka apamaan hoga!” and immediately we could see Draupadi in background yelling for help!
Ya.. but as you said.. Bheeshm on his sharshayya could have been a better option when she said, “Main tumhare mrityu ka kaaran banungi!”

I watched Ekta’s Mahabharata for first week. I was not able to digest what she was showing in this serial. I didn’t tried to watch this serial after 3rd episode and now I am feeling very happy. Lets see she should not make Draupadi another Prerna. I think if some channel start B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat at same time it will kill 9X’s this drama.
When chopras made such a realistic mahabharat then what is the need for this pathtic attempt because u acn not make mahabharat better or even equal to previous one . i think even chopras can not do now.
and now look who is making this epic now “ekta kapoor” who can just make serials for cheap entertainment and the same thig is doing with mahabharat . if there is any authority who can stop her to make mahabharat then please do this otherwise for new generation mahabharat could have quite different meanings
The series is getting from bad to worse. the casting of this is so messed up,
Shakuni–trying to be the funny guy, Drithrashtra–roadside tapori, Pandu- King who has no dialougue delivery..wtf Shaal Naresh overacting as hell.. Bheeshma trying to be the cool dude.. cmon

there is not a single thing i like abt this so far. the language goes from mediocre to cheap, like the guy who was sitting besides kashi Naresh, trying to be funny but it was annoying. This is not a comedy series for crying out loud. She has murdered all aspects of the show. and I bet if atall there is a battle fight its going to be funny as hell…
I think i have seen my last episode of Ektas soap. i would definitely come on this site to read what others have to say abt it.
I agree with Sujeet someone needs to get that same time slot and show BR Chopra’s version. people who havent seen BR’s version will understand what it was really about.
I guess the Kahani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki has improved… if you remember… Shantanu always wore black accessories in the initial episodes but these days Pandu, Dhritrashtra, Vidur, etc are wearing golden jewellery! Moreover, even the costumes of ladies have improved… they are now wearing full length sarees though sometimes the color scheme mismatches- but now i see some hope that they will improve!
Now i guess they shud improve in their special effects- what were those creatures crying when Duryodhan was born? Were they made of plastic or rubber?
Also, there is this Shakuni Mama who reminds me of Mohini from Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi! No doubt he is dng good acting- but its the creative team who should decide how his character is to be shaped!
Definitely the team is incorporating the changes as per the suggestions reported! Definitely there has been an improvement!
It seems that Balaji Telefilms is working hard on Mahabharat… if you have seen Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi episodes recently, you can make it out… the recent addition to the family “Vaidehi” calls herself to be the “Uttaradhikari” of Shantiniketan! She threatens KrishnaTulsi that she will turn Shantiniketan into “Kurukshetra”!

This does not mean to hurt you.if you can’t understand Hindi then it is your level, epics should not go to your level , Matashri ,pitashri are loud ! ok ekta will make another version of Mahabharath in next 15 years and then bheeshm would say pops , you are too cool , yudhishtir will say draupadi is too sexy .History is one thing which you cannot change and it does not go according to your will , we can’t deny that we were ruled by Britishers for a century because of our own stupidity and lack of unity.
But it is not your fault , younger generation finds Hindi tougher than English ,they are updated of kaput between katrina and salman , but hardly knows the story of Mahabharath or Ramayan.For them raam becomes Lord Rama and seeta becomes sita the foreign view of our culture.It is said one who feeds on dalda can’t digest pure ghee . If people are crticizing Ekta then they have strong reasons for wrong depiction , they are just not saying BR is good ,even whenever I wrote , I pointed out the things going wrong in ekta’s Mahabharat , not like supporters whch say Ekta is good and Balaji Telefilms is number one. For your information ,BR showed Krishna avtaar in Mahabharatha , but the entry of Krishna in real Mahabharath comes as late as in Draupadi swamvyar, but whatever BR showed , showed with conviction and full research and samay says , nothing is more important than the birth of sri krishna and we should go to gokul.
That’s why I said Aditya is so special , he likes Mahabharath and reacts whatever he finds right and wrong , not just refraining Ekta is good and Balaji is numero uno.

see mane mahabharat to nahi padhi hai but jo dadi nani se suni hai aur jo dekhi hai usi basis pe bol raha hun .let me tell u is samay mai sirf 3 serial dekhta hun mahabhart on 9x shree krishna on colors nd ramayan on ndtv imagine…..seriously bachpan se bahut craze raha hai mythological serial dekhne ka………..but beech me sab band ho gaya tha serial banna ..agin they are back with a bang……………ramayan and shree kerishna is again recreated by original producers of older version…………but mahabharat is recreated by ekta kuch cheeze hai jo change honi chahiye bt it is nt so bad also ki sirf criticize kare ……………..i knw dhrithrashtra nd pandu are nt good enough but cnt u see ganga bhesshma amba kunti n all…………………shree krishna janam episode ws also good……………………i loved it …………..agar uska video ho to plz gmme……………nd for first time i cme to kne that yashoda was rebirth of kaushalya nd devaki ws rebirth of kaikayi…..nd if i m nt mistaken ye old mahabharat me bhi nahi bataya gaya hai……so kuch chezze isme acchi hai kuch usme acchi thi …..but sahi me ye waali jyada samjh aa rahi hai……………..wase i wud love to post comments in this community atleast u guys are nt pulling legs like in other communities………………
Well… so now the much awaited episodes of Shree Krishna Janm was telecast!
The episodes were good but the visual effects in these episodes that could have been better…
For example.. when it was raining in Gokul before Krishna Janam.. i thought that it was raining outside my television screen and everything in Gokul was so dry! Next… it was when Lord Vishnu were coming to Devki’s prison- that peacock feather coming from heaven, looked like it was some animated series!
Rest everything was fine… poor dressing style of Devki and Vasudeo well suited their imprisonment! The water level rising and Lord Krishna’s feet causing the water level to decrease and the Sheshnaag protecting Lord Krishna and all was very well put! And even the pace of all this was very good!
One more point is Mr. Aakashdeep Saigal.. Kans looked bad (i cant say him good; as Kans was a villain and he should look not only bad but more than bad) He needs to look evil! As an evil king- Kans should use high command and should laugh loudly even after hurting people! But here, the case is different- there is no evil laughter at all… instead there are typical soap like looks wherein Kans only gazes in anger!
