Review Jodha Akbar
It’s been a long wait for the epic drama and the wait has been worth it.
Brief story - Jodha Akbar is a journey of true love of Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar (Hrithik Roshan), the great Mughal emperor with Jodha Bai (Aishwarya Rai), a Rajput princess and daughter of the King Bharmal of Amer. Akbar’s biggest challenge isn’t only about winning battles but also winning the heart of Jodha.
Now the Review, let me start off with the helmsman – the man behind this magnificent drama. Director Ashutosh Gowariker’s direction is flawless, every single sequence has been executed brilliantly. The effort that has gone into the making of this epic love story is evident on the screen – etched on every frame of the movie. It’s simply incredible. The movie deserves nothing less than a ‘A++’ in every aspect.
- The scene where Akbar tames an elephant, has been performed and executed to perfection.
- The sword-fighting scene between Jodha and Akbar is a masterstroke by the director. It’s romance on screen at its ultimate best. The dialogues in the particular scene too are brilliant.
- When Jodha and Akbar meet for the first time, their chemistry, Hrithik’s body language, the execution – Perfect!
- Hrithik’s dance at the end of Khwaja Mere song as if he was immersed into the song, his expression and those eyes… I was awestruck
- Akbar practicing sword fighting baring his torso as Jodha watches him hiding behind a wall… Hrithik’s physique is perfectly captured, an absolute treat for the female audience.
- The romance between the couple is subtle and beautiful, something that is hard to find in modern day movies. The chemistry between Ash – Hrithik is sizzling.
- Azeem-o-shan-shenshah – choreography, music, use of colors, execution out of the world. Never ever would you have witnessed something like this before!
- The final fight – brilliantly done and Hrithik performs the action sequence with a lot of class.
Cinematography is of international standards. Kiran Deohan’s proficiency is evident from scene one. He just sweeps you off your feet by capturing the huge sena to the intimate romance with deftness. Music by A.R. Rehman is perfect classic material. Khwaja Mere Khwaja is divinely pure; Jashn-e-bahara is a beautiful romantic song. Every song is a classic, superbly choreographed and picturized. The editing for a couple of scenes could have been tighter but never mind, you don’t get bored for a single moment.
The movie belongs undoubtedly to Hrithik Roshan. He is Akbar, not for a moment do you feel its Hrithik Roshan the superstar on screen. His body language, expressions, action, dialogue delivery just about everything is perfect. Here is an young actor, who is light years ahead of the competition, with the right kind of roles Hrithik is gonna rule Bollywood in the future. Shenshah-e-Roshan, indeed!
Aishwarya Rai is great too; this is one of her finest performances. She looks every bit a beautiful Rajput princess. Sonu Sood and Ila Arun are good and so is the rest of the supporting cast.
So overall, Jodha Akbar is a classic masterpiece that shall be remembered for a long long time. Don’t worry about the length, you hardly feel its 3 hours 20 minutes long. Remember, you got to be a bit patient while watching Jodha Akbar, relax and enjoy as the epic drama unfolds with all its glory. Don’t miss it, worth the price of your ticket and more!

Another Jodha Akbar Review from the net.. Spread the word guys.. this movie deserves it!
What a movie! What an AWESOME MOVIE CAN JODHA AKHBAR BE! Initially i was worried as to how the movie will work out since its about an emperor and all those scenes with palace(s),horses so on and so forth.
Hrithik proved the critics wrong. No one can ever say he is a one film wonder again. No one.People exaggerated (over here in singapore) that the movie is very historical and they compared it to the old tales during the centuries.I went for this movie and i am still having JA hang over!!
SPOILERS [Very Happy]
HRITHIK - Tremendous performance. Loved the elephant scene, the sword scene, the part where he begins to like aishwarya and vice versa, the part where he brought aish and was waiting for the sun to set n then expressing his feelings n asking if she loved him - many many more …Overall,no one could hv done his role.He has the elegant, stern but romeo liked look [Winking] The charishma, gentleness, courageous personality which is gave out was too good!
AISH - Simple look with a strong personality. Speaks her mind and is straightforward(thats why HR praised her abt it in the movie!!) I liked her performance no doubts, they seem to be the most ideal pair in JA! Imagine someone else in her place - impossible!
OVERALL - 4/5

Awesome Movie ever taken in bollywood history. Ever minute was a pleasure, I did not get distracted even for a minute and did not see the clock ever. Camera is awesome, when the camera moves slowly in the battlefiled showing every angle. Hrithik really acts like Akbhar the Great Emperor. Wish every movie, comes with such different theme and story. Nothing like any other masala movie that comes out of bollywood, 100 times better than OM SHANTI OM - Camera, Music, Direction everything. Ash does not look like a rajput, wish Ashtoush had chosen another actress who can best fit Rajput. A+++++++++++, I am sure this movie will cross every frontier.

Hrithiks performance is unbelievable he’s just…just…PERFECT in every way - No other actor in Bollywood or Hollywoord compares to him - he is a complete artiste –(always ahs been since Kaho Na Pyar Hai).
Ash was annoying and artificial in Dhoom 2 but in Jodhaa Abar she looks fab and I think she looks better in traditional roles.
Well done to the Director Ashutosh - I did not even realise the film was over 3hours long and I’m the kind of person who doesn’t have the patience for even American movies (unless they’re exceptionally good of course)
More films like Jodha Akbar need to be made but with the same quality of production, acting, editing…only thing is I really really didn’t like the music- only Jash-E-Bahara is quite nice otherwise music is boring. Im definately buying this one on DVD…

Mr Khalid mohammad…… How can you insult a movie that potrays indian history in such a magnificient way, that is so fulfilling and captivating and that is getting huge praises from masses all over india.
KM, you are one of those people who would give 5 stars to the movies such as “kis kis ki kismat” or “buddha mar gaya”
because you only like those movies which has double meanings and cheap comendy in every scene.
You do not have any appreciation for a great movie which potrays indian history so beautifully which u can watch with ur whole family.
Seriously…do you have anything personally against Ashutosh or hritik or Ash. Or you have been paid hefty money by directors of cheap comedies to white such ripping reviews.
HT , you better give it a thought to retire this reviewer of yours or he will throw you out of business.

I normally don’t watch Hindi movies. I tried watching some but most of the time I get bored with the cheesiness, corniness and unprofessionalism and have to turn it off within 1/2 hour or so.
This movie though in my opinion is hands down the best Hindi film (or any film) I’ve ever watched. Wow! Certainly, Bollywood has come a long way. This movie without a doubt rivals any other films around the world; even the big budget ones. It’s a must watch for anyone. There wasn’t a single boring moment for me.
The realism, grandeur, and professionalism in every aspect are some of the things that mainly got me with this movie. I saw this movie with a group of American friends who were all speechless afterwards. The only negative comment I heard from one woman was that she “could not handle the war scenes too well”. Nonetheless, it wasn’t grotesquely violent which it could have been.
I hope everyone in the world sees this film and meditate on the value of tolerance and consideration toward one another it portrays and apply it to their own lives (as I’m going to try to do myself). That would certainly change the world we live in today with so much hatred.

Jodha Akbar was a classic love story. One of the most beautifully made movie in the world of Cinema ( Bollywood/ Holly wood or any other wood included).
Hats off to the director and cinematographer. But personally I think Hrithik is just SUPERB.
I thought he was fantastic in Dhoom 2 but in this movie he proves EXCELLENCE has a new name- HRITHIK.
Aishwarya has always been my personal favourite. In this movie also she has acted wonderful, though I feel in some scenes mainly due to her lenses ( it looked like that, as her ever so green beautiful eyes just didnot look green) made her look a little pale. But for acting she definetly gets a A ++ .
A must see for everyone.

Being a fan of HR, Ash, Ashu and Rehman, this movie was a dream come true. I think the movie was not more than average,Jodha-Akbar is good attempt but failed to highlight main job and work of Akbar under his leadership,it was the formation of religion din-eilahi by Akbar which was the perfect amalgamation of hindu and islam.Akbar was the great political thinker and warrior but in movie his emotional quotient is highlighted more than his political wisdom and courage.
But overall a good performance by Hrithik and yes elephant seen was simply mind blowing.
I think only next to amir khan’s Gulam seen.

I agree with most of you all. This movie has mastered it all. The subtle acting by both the male and female leading actors and the supporting cast is marvelous. I thought I was watching a Hollywood movie and not the usual Bollywood movie with over acting, dowdy colours and loud music. This movie is so real. Just forget the hindu-muslim-rajput disagreements, controversies, indian nationalism and what not for a while and just go and enjoy the movie for what it is. A splendid movie.

Dying to see the movie. Obviously, it has been accepted as a superb,a classic and a masterpiece. Not so many wonderful remarks would have been possible on basis of manipuilation, hero worship or personal interests. I am so glad that such praises have come to Hrithik. He has always impressed me as a an actor who gives his heart and soul to the role he plays, all the time. More significantly, he has impressed me as a sincere and genuine person who finds a meaningful purpose of human existence in honestly endeavouring to be a good human being, in trying to lead a truthful, a good and, hence, a beautiful life. My best wishes are always with him.
I also would like to congratulate Ashutosh and Aishwarya Rai Bachhan and all the others who are associated with the movie in one way or the other for the role they have played in making such a well recieved movie which has obviously brought the joy of watching a wonderful movie to so many people.
I am from a state where Hindi films are banned but have always been a fan of Hindi films. Unfortunately have to wait for a CD version of it, pirated or otherwise.

If Jodha-Akbar is made just for entertainment value, it’s ok. But I don’t think it’s made for entertainment value. Asuthosh wanted to show his directorial capability and tried to convince the audience about the love story between Jodha and Akbar? But educated audience must know the history and must be laughing the way Akbar’s kingdom is shown in the movie against the romantic background?
Many times, the role of Jodha was forcibly inserted to justify the title ‘Jodha Akbar. One such occasion I would like to cite when Akbar got wounded with an arrow. Jodha would be taking care of him. What about his other wives and Baandies (concubines)?
The focus of the movie evolves more around Jodha-Akbar to justify the title of the movie with very little is shown about his mother, midwife, and other counselors.
One thing I have observed is that nothing is shown about Akabr’s Muslim wives? No interaction of Jodha with Akbar’s wives? The reason for not showing Akbar’s previous wives can be well understood and it rather shows the dexterity of script writer and director. Well done Asutosh for presenting the historic facts in a bad light! You wanted business, and you would succeed too as the collection at box office is whopping week by week.
Film impacts our lives and gives a message. What kind of message we’ll give to our posterity with this distorted factual periodic movie? Should not our generation visualize Akbar as Hirtik and Jodha as Aishwarya in the same way as we visualize Akbar as Prithivi Raj Kapoor and Salim as Dilip Kumar? Would not the generation ahead to us believe what they see in the movie than believing in the real history of Akbar in Mughal period?
I don’t object on any good historic films. Richard Attenborough has also made a film on Gandhi; this was convincing and has won various awards too. It was purely a historic movie and I really appreciate this movie. But when it comes to Indian directors in making such a movie, most of them have failed so far. Almost all of them do think from commercial perspective whether a film they make will do business or not. If not, then who will produce if next time he dares making such a movie?
In gist, if a periodic film is made with distorted facts to do business, time is not far away when our posterity would believe such a film as real and would discard what’s written in the history book. Future really looks bloom, alas!

2. abhineet-dude, do ‘you’ yourself know anything bout cinema??
3. munaj-listen, before being concerned about the future, be concerned about your history, you should know the fact that jodha is one of akbar’s earliest wives, if not THE earliest, how many of his wives were shown in MUGHAL-E-AZAM anyways??

Rahul, thanks for voicing my opinion also to the three people, tejas, abhi and munaj.
Even I like SRK, but that doesnot mean you demean someone else just because u r a fan of SRK.
About the other two, please remember that finally it is the acting and entertainmant value of a film that counts. Which according to me, Jodha Akbar scores full marks in.

There is only one word I can say…. PERFECT. I WOULD RATE IT 9.5 / 10. PLEASE watch this movie at the theatre, it’s really grandiose. Even the SRK fans, if someone has done a great work you should really appreciate it. Infact INDIANS should be proud of such a movie. Don’t try to find faults in the script or the story. Go to watch the grandeur of the film and entertain yourselves. There is no muslim or hindu here; its an Indian movie. I am a Mauritian but I know many SRK fans are boycotting the movie. INDIANS SHOULD FEEL PROUD OF THEIR CINEMA or they will just have to watch the same ‘old wine new bottle’ everytime and other crap movies. JODHA AKBAR IS A MASTERPIECE. HRITIK DESERVES HIS BEST ACTOR NOW ITSELF AND THIS MERITS THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR because I am sure that indian cinema will not produce such a great movie again atleast in 2008. So don’t miss it. It’s not for tv, it has been made for theatres.

This is my first review on the net about anything (lazy bug)….
Beautiful movie…..periodic in color is something hard to imagine….but this movie is too good a visual treat.
1. Hrithik was just awsome on the screen, fantastic ….hard to find words
2. Sword fights, Elephant encounter, Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah song were a treat to watch
3. Khwaja mere khwaja …..beautifully shot ……watching is much better compared to listening the song. Sublime capturing of the mood of the situation.
4. the scene …..Akbar walking in to the dancing troop(Khwaja mere khwaja) and doing a swirl……ethereal is the only word which comes to my mind…..had goose bumps……..never felt like that in a movie for a long time. I thought may b I was a bit involved and so felt that way but seeing all your comments…now i change my opinion….all credit to Hrithik and Ashutosh…easily the best scene of this movie and should be able to make into top 10 best scenes of Hindi cinema…hmm…may be commercial Hindi cinema :-)
5. Felt the story was slow and dragging at times.
6. I think picking up the Jodha, Akbar love as the story line didn’t do justice to Aushtosh skills .Very few details are captured in the history about this alliance and so the story had to be stretched a bit to fit in other situations of Akbar’s time. A story about Akbar’s achivements with the love story thrown in would have made a wonderful story line and would have made this movie a legend.
7. One last thing ….I didn’t go to this movie to refresh my history fundas….to all those who lament about history being distorted…..I think movies are not the best place to learn our history lessons, there are many wonderful books in the market which give an (as much as possible) accurate account of life and times of the Akbar the great……Medieval Indian History (NCERT) would be a great place to start for those academically inclined ;-)

Surprised how ppl never pointed out the scene that I thought was the best..
The meeting of akbar and jodha where akbar was fuming at the temerity of jodha..
He looked every bit an emperor in that one scene.
Also elephant scnene is auragzeb and not akbar. asutosh babu cheated
Another plus is akbar milling around the common folks.. THis is a legend and asutosh did well to
replicate this.
This is one of the top 10 of all time. For my money, i’d cancel this years oscars and give the award
to JA instead. Well done indeed asutosh babu. you are the real hero of this flick.

All in all, a good copy of Troy in the stunt scenes, Ashutosh should have tried something unusual like he always does. Quite disappointing this time. Two stars from me at the most!

Very well said, Munaz Anjum. I thought the cinematography and everything that needs to transform you back into that era wad portrayed so well! But since I’m such a patron of reality and some truth in the movies, I just could not get over the fact that he had other wives too! Two before and several after Jodha. It is speculated that he had almost 300 wives! Then how does this justify his “true” love for Jodha? He was a great emperor and tolerant of many religions, especially reinforced the friendship of hindus and muslims…but it is also true, according to the history books, that Jodhabai was converted to Islam (which is so contradictory to the stand that Jodha has in the movie of never should she be forced into a conversion.) But when I step away and look at the movie as a whole, besides several historical flaws in the film, Ashutosh had a great message to give: Love, which is especially needed in today’s world!

First of all people who are cinic fail to understand the essence of the movie.. the movie is about only jodha and akbarr ..so Ashotosh will only concentrate on them..had the movie had the name Akbar and his muslim wives and jodha..then I am sure Ashotosh difinately would have shown all the wives crying weeping yelling n praying along with jodha….when Akbar was hi t with an arrow.
Ashot osh didnot show other muslims wives crying coz tht time camera was foccused on jodha praying.
I hope anjum gets her reply…
anjum you make a movie on akbar with many wives may be that movie will be a super hit, coz it will show loads of romance…. n u take revenge on ashotoash by not showing jodha in that arrow scene.
on serious note….movie was just on Akbar and jodha .
Many people are cribbing that lenght og the movie was a problem and at the same time they cry fowl that ashotosh didnot show much about war n did not show much about sujal singh and then his many wives….arrrey he ruled for many decaded if ashotosh would focus on everyone , then it might take 14 hrs .
try to understand why ashotosh didnot show n foucs on every character..
ANd it was a movie not documentry on akbar..so it had to have some entertainment….so that people enjoy Jodha Akbar.
you guys need to come put of the narrow thinking and see the wide concept hidden behind it.
Long live Akbar and jodha..you both did excellent job and ashotosh

Can some one tell my how much money this movie made? Is it a super hit or block buster? I pray that this movie makes loads of money.
I was so sad that movie was banned in M.P.. coz….ASHOTOSH INVESTED SO MUCH MONEYON IT. ..lif it goes like this then no one would dare to make historical movies…coz one dish can not satisfy every tongue……
Lukily I am so greedy that thier is nothing i dislike :P
I love hritikh coz he accepts challenges. Ihope he tries to contact me coz I got loads of things to tell him about movies and songs and dance:P:P
I like him as a super hero and also as a person coz very rare to see people who walk so high and still so humble.
If we get many actors who are as huble as Hritikh roshan then whole industry will be blessed with a good people.
Rahul you are very sweet and I like the way you write. Why don’t you try to write for some newspaper coz u have conviction. If I were a rich person I would appoint you as my p.r :P jk

JA for me is a landmark, just because it is a brave attempt in making a movie of a genre which has long been forgotten by the directors of today, only exception is TAJ MAHAL by AKBAR KHAN in 2006, which was a commercial flop and not as well made as JA. JA has its own qualities, like too many memorable scenes in the movie than any i have had ever seen before, and people who thought that it is’nt historically correct should just go to hell, becuase its just full of historical facts about akbar, although it has its own drawbacks though, like i thought that the second have could have been sleeker and the end climax scene (one to one fight, GOD knows why its inspired, can’t just two people fight after TROY??)could have been thriller….but overall its an honest and ‘different’ attempt, showing other indian diectors that such films should be made also, one of the most romantic movies i have ever seen and so its a ‘landmark’ because of the two above reasons……
thnx to SAMEEHA for the support and ABHINEET for being polite……:)

i really noticed one thing, JA gave rise to soooo many history teachers, like, where were they for sooo long??? suddenly turning up from nowhere and everyone trying to educate everyone else, i insist each should write a book by themselves, since you know sooo much bout history…………..JA should be remebered only for this contribution, if not for the other ‘visible’ facts it has..

Hello all,
According to a recent interview of the director, i.e Ashutosh, he says that JA is only 30 % history and 70% fabricated story , as he tried searching for details about the women folk of that time and very little is written about them. Thus Ja was created through the director’s and writer’s prespective.
Hopefully, this may make some tof the critics realise that as smart . practical individuals we need to just see a movie for what it really is meant to be, basically for entertainment.

RAHUL,
I said Jodha Akbar was trash, and I still think so, and here’s why…
Ashutosh Gowarikar is a great Indian director I really like. In his previous two films, Lagaan and Swadesh, he has displayed superb visual and narrative storytelling of strong and compelling subjects, which were essentially new subjects, or rather old subjects now potrayed in an entirely new fashion. Jodha Akbar fails miserably on all these accounts, which also happen to be the very things that make a movie good or bad.
The reason for making a movie should be that a director has a good story he wants to tell, rather than make a movie in a genre long forgotten even if its just for the heck of it. Why not make silent films again then?
Memorable Scenes? I laughed out of seat when Hrithik got that white heavenly light and started dancing like a puppet. Dude, that is NOT how enlightenment through music happens! The magic hour, when the sun is at the horizon, (to cause a reflection on the glass behind jodha in the critical love scene) is in actuality half an hour long. But in the film its five seconds. C’mon… I am a big supportor of surrealism, but it has to be prevalent as a form throughout the entire film, or atleast in some relevance??! You can’t just make a shooting star out of the setting sun for no apparent reason!!??
The war scenes were goddamn Empty!!! Notice how the battles in Braveheart make your stomach churn?? since that is what war is like. Not tired soldiers jogging with flimsily held swords!
Historic Distortion I dont care much about, I can dispense it in favour of a creative freedom, but my man, a film NEEDS a story. Even the abstract works of greats like Tarkovsky and Bergman have a sequence of emotional flow if not that of incidents. But this one “masterpiece” beats all! What was JA about?? their love, the saas-bahu politics, religious unifications, implications of war, strategies of politics, spiritual enlightenment, jealousy and ego and the formation of a romance bw husband and wife in an arranged marriage??????? WHAT??????? its cool, a film can have several issues and good ones make all of them work together to magnificent effect, but here not even one comes through…
Phew… even the visuals are crass! the exterior shots of most palaces have brown dusty pavements and not landscaped gardens !!! thats not how i think our kings would have lived!!!!
There RAHUL, thats some of my opinions on the film…
But good for you if you liked the film, you’re entitled to your opinions as well :)

Great Movie….After Guru this is another good movie i enjoyed..However, I don’t know if it will be hit. I have seen Indian public prefer more movies that is little vulgar (movies of Malika Sherawat, Bipasa Basu etc) and those movie who has been over publicized like Om shanti Om. Indians don’t care about historical movies no matter how great they were made. They don’t care of acting and stuff.

Lorna, People who can’t stand hritik or Aishwarya they will definitely try to find any mean to say anything they want….so you just comment what you want to comment on movie and don’t get “frustrated” if other give bad review by comparing or by any other channel.
BTW, I enjoyed Jodhaa Akbar. Story we all knew before it release as it was based on History….I think director did excellent job and deserve all credit. I don’t think it will nominated for any awards as Awards distribution in India is JOKE.

@ ABHINEET
1. the scene which you call ‘puppet’, do you have the faintest idea what it means?? one hand of the dancer is upwards, which means that you take gift from god, the other downwards, which means that you give those gifts to the common people, you are the medium, that is what the song actually also states, if you dont believe me, which is the obvious fact, then please mail mr. amitabh bachchan or bring a good history book from somewhere and start reading it….
2. dont be that much fool of a person to compare the battle scenes with a foreign movie, they have their own treatment, better or worse may be, while we have ours…
3. ’saas-bahu’????? where the hell did you see THAT?? if you look back into your own history, forget akbar’s, you will find everything in your life, from love, hatred, jealousy, sorrow……thats what life is all about….the film is about akbar’s life, with his love with jodha as background….
now i m convinced that you are a polite guy, with very little knowledge bout cinema..

I have been watching Hindi movies since childhood, reveling in the glorious days when Naushad saab would spend the whole night working on a song so that it would escape Lata’s lips with classic perfection - such were the efforts of our peers so that the viewer could be treated to a work of art that brought complete satisfaction. As the decades progressed, I became more and more sad at the obvious deteriorating quality of hindi movies; movies being churned out by the dozen with no efforts evident and with the only objective being to hoodwinkle the viewer into coughing up money for the ticket so that the producer could mint a fortune, stars being paid huge amounts to display their obvious lack of acting ability, wax work statues being unveiled and dedicated to some mediocre performances, awards being given to such performers and to films which were basically mediocre and totally undeserving of such accolades. Surely the dark era was upon us once again…
However, this darkness has been dispelled thoroughly and completely with the advent of Hrithik Roshan. From his very first film he has shown a rare commitment to his roles, infusing them with sincerity, effort and convincing reality. I had to sit up out of my despair and take notice of this young performer creating such ripples through the lake of mediocrity that was Bollywood since 1995.
With his latest escapade, as the Mughal Emperor Akbar, he has even surpassed the thespian Dilip Kumar, so perfect was his rendition of such a demanding and difficult role. Alas, what a beautiful “Devdas” he would have made!
As for Ashutosh Gowarikar, he could have stood shoulder to shoulder with master film makers such as Bimal Roy, K Asif, B R Chopra and Hrishikesh Mukherjee (a position that I feel no other present film maker can even begin to consider) if only he had made use in his film of some of our yet existing national treasures such as Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. I hope he will make note of this for his next production.
So Ladies and gentlemen, gladen your hearts for the golden era has dawned yet again, whose first prominent sign is the magnificent prioduction JODHA AKBAR, and the outstanding HRITHIK ROSHAN!!!

I have to admit this site seems to be getting as interesting as the movie itself. The wonderful comments, the ” bickering” of reviews between some guys , the overall AWE and admiration for foremost the true meaning of excellence i.e HRITIK and ofcourse the rest of the cast and crew is just amazing.
I am actually looking forward to reading these reviews on a daily basis more than anything else.
Anyways to add on , firstly vidya u r “oh” so right. I know of even married women with kids who are wishing at some point in their lives their “darling” husbands somehow magically transform into Hritik. ( We cant really have so many million Hritiks right, maybe we must start cloning him).
As for Mr Farez its heart warming to read your review, especially about Hritik, really the Golden Era is back.
For all the critics, esp Abhineet, lets hope you come out of your Dream land, as the way u envision movies with the sun set and the shooting star we may all have to sit for a whole day or more in the cinemas for one scene to pass i.e if u r the direrctor.

Munaz bhai, aapkko kya problem hai life mein? I too found the movie lacking in many departments, but I’m least concerned about the history department. Heck, who cares about Akbar’s muslim wives when you have Aishwarya on the screen. But I found even Aishwarya is lacking her usual appeal in this movie.
The art department is sub-par, I found the sets and decor of Kamasutra by Mira Nair better than this big budget movie. Rahman’s music is so so. Script is all over the place, I felt like I’m watching an episode of Tipu Sultan. I had to leave the theater half way through because I could not take it any more. Even the romance between Jodha and Akbar seemed tired and forced. I am shocked to see the such good review all over the web. I pity the poor readers who trust the reviews and have to bear this movie.
So in summary, mian Munaz, if you want to look for muslim wives, don’t need to go to the theater. I’m sure there are plenty in your friends and family. I wanted to be entertained and moved, and alas, I was disappointed.

I am truly sad that Hrithik Roshan’s name does not appear in the number 1 spot on the Bollywood Power List. What this world needs is meritocracy. If judged on merit, the gentlemen who hold the top two positions would appear way down on the list and Hrithik would be Number 1! Alas, the world is hypnotised by too much fan-fare on the media focusing on undeserving individuals, who may have actually paid for such propaganda themselves. Consider how well Hrithik has spoken Urdu (from his throat) in Jodha Akbar. Many emminent Muslim scholars cannot speak such Urdu. A small observation, but one which gives great insight into this young Hindu actor’s dedication and commitment! Of course, only God is perfect. Jodha Akbar may have some flaws but the tone used by “Movie Critic” and Abhineet show that they have been egged on by Hrithik’s rivals within the industry itself, or perhaps such comments have been written by Hrithik’s rivals themselves who are hiding behind pseudonyms such as “Movie Critic”. After all, anyone who says Jodha Akbar is trash or had to leave the cinema hall half-way must have some ulterior motive, or hidden agenda, in saying or doing so. Or perhaps, he/she is not human, an alien from an outer world who knows nothing about excellent films or true art for that matter…

i even took my south indian friend n forced her to follow the movie. i was whispering her every dialogue…..as her hindi was kam joor…but she liked the movie her taste is better than abhijeet hehehe…
I enjooyed that lephant scene ..elephant had a cute tail n every time he missed his kick i was relived.. he almost crushed that next guy with akbar.
The most impressive part was , before starting the movie, they displayed how they took cae of every animal n bird n how one vetnary doc was always there for aniamls. Made me feel so proud. I wish every india takes care of stray dogs coz moastly they sleep hungry and die coz they r starved to death.

Jodha akbar is a master piece.first of all i would like to advice that one must watch this from the heart . not with a mind with thousands of doubts and questions about history or prejudice about the cast or costumes ..then you are lost in the superficial thought process..you absolutely miss the connection…when watched with involement they cannot miss small beautiful moments which magically bind you to the characters and the plot…
it is like drowning in the beauty of a painting …the subtle romance brought out between the young akbar and jodhaa mainly through the “eyes” is beautiful. this is a true artistic expression of romance. enough to ignite the passion in anybody …
there is no room for boredom anywhere. …..a real
classic master piece of our times……..the fight between akbar and sharifuddhin in the end is fabulous … it portrays the power of a mighty emperor…here is an emperor who is the symbol of Power , Might and righteousness and also ruthless when it comes to punishing the traitors ..but at the same time harbours such tenderness and love in his eyes for his queen that you would just drown into it… the most touching and beautiful scene was ….when the emperor perceives the light and is soaked in the divine love of god ..looses himself dancing with the sufis ….its a brilliant storke ……and the next beautiful moment for me in the movie was when jodhaa’s song Man mohana (calling lord krishna to leave kashi and mathura to come to her ..be one with her )..this song is symbolic as akbar cannot resist but leave his darbar and forget all who present there , keeps following the melody of the voice that magically draws him to her..and then for the first time he looks at her breath taking beauty and for a moment the world stops for him……then he is lost……
hats off to AR rehman for composing such soul level music…the song eshk -bahara hein is a master piece in itself.
“In lamho kein daman mein “song was the best part of the movie. what a way to show the two opposite energies drawn together with beautiful emotions … experiencing moments of completeness….this was the most artistic part of the movie.
i am sure ..western movies can never portray the subtle beauty of romance and passion shown in this movie . at least i haven’t seen so far.
a must watch for any one with artistic instinct…..

Movie is a super hit. Supreme court lifted the ban… its a wonderful news .. Very kind of the judge who took a wise decision. Let this movie be tax free now..so every one watches this movie. I feel sorry for the producer of the movie who suffered great loss coz of the ban imposed on it.
Now , to balance the loss which occured coz of ban, they should make it tax free or give him the money he lost.According to sourses producer lost Rs 10 or 20 million for the 4 days ban in M.P.
I request everyone to watch this movie and if you have already seen the movie watc h it one more time to support a beautiful movie which has so much right emotions to touch any kind heart. Jai Hindustan.

I just came across this site yesterday and was thrilled by the comments which have ben written, esp you Tara you have kept the tempo going.
I guess this is the last week JA will have such an open run, meaning no competition. Race should get a good opening and should do well overall. In any case JA will be visible on quite a few screens what with so many multiplexes around these days.
Reg the movie, even die-hard srk fans have loved it if they have even 10% open mind. I know of so many srk fans who have unwillingly at first shifted their loyalties to Hrithik after Dhoom2 and now with Akbar they must be wondering what srk knows about acting..
JA was simply mindblowing and I have sent almost all my friends and family to see it. Still reminding a few who have missed out on this golden opportunity. The movie is made only for the big screen.
Hrithik is so awesome just cant imagine what can be expected from him next. But he continues to work hard, continues to surprise us. He is the only actor who truly believes in taking our cinema to the next level. Makes sense since he works so hard on every movie for almost 12 months, no point in working in mediocre movies.
Hrithik should however ensure one release every year , so he can get an award every year! If you notice every year that Hrithik has a release he gets the award.
As for Ashutosh, hats off to him too. I was worried when Hrithik attempted a historical but was glad that he chose Ashutosh for this. Now a successful historical has got added to the gamut of roles duggu has done. I believe his next movie is a thriller with a lot of dancing. He should attempt a romantic comedy soon.
Also at long last all the nonsense about one film wonder, giving hits only with pop, etc..have been wiped off forever.
Another confusing thing is the box office status. At long last every site has admitted to it being a HIT at least. This is a great change since everyone was waiting for it to fail. As for overseas, there is a unanimous Super hit status.
In any case UTV has made enough money, so media can continue saying whatever they wish.
Cheerio friends …

Jodhaa Akbar is a great movie. Of course, if everyone has 4 hours to watch it!
The grandeur of the movie is stunning. The costumes, settings, locations both indoor and outdoor, and music are all spectacular. The use of color to accentuate the mood and feeling – red for rajputs and green for mughals, and music enhances the entertainment value of the movie. Each of the songs is unique – from sufi-spiritual Khwaja mere khwaja, classical Mann mohana…, ghazal like Kahne ko jashne, upbeat Azeem-o-shan shehanshah, to the sensuous In lamhon me daman mein – and form the 5 jems of Jodhaa Akbar.
Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai were amazing in their performances. Ashutosh Gowariker’s direction is excellent, especially in his use of eyes as a means of communication between Jodhaa and Akbar consistently in the movie. His efforts to re-enact the traditions and culture of the 16th century and yet make them relevant today are commendable.
In an interview, director Ashutosh Gowariker said he considered Jodhaa Akbar mainly as a romance, not a war or historical movie. Yes, the romance between Jodhaa and Akbar was a big part of the movie. It’s always nice to watch a love story in an arranged marriage! The marriage alliance between the moghul emperor and rajput princess starts of as a bitter pill for Jodhaa and a successful strategy for Akbar’s expansion of the mughal empire.
But Gowariker did not devote much film or time to show their love blossom. There are 3 long war scenes and other scenes where kings plot and conspire, and not enough showing the transformation of Jodhaa and Akbar. Akbar finds Jodhaa’s strong-will and outspokenness attractive; and Jodhaa quickly finds out how genuinely nice Akbar is. Akbar’s character is well-developed: he’s a brave warrior, a wise ruler, and a nice man who can win people’s hearts and minds. But Jodhaa’s character isn’t so developed. The 2 songs – Mann mohana… and Kahne ko jashne… could have been in full instead of playing bits and pieces. There could have been more scenes between them.
Ultimately this movie is more than the romance in the life of India’s greatest mughal. Gowariker underscores India’s heritage of cultural and religious syntheses without speeches or lectures.

Hey Raaja,
You must be yet another srk fan. That is good but dont be a stupid srk fan. You guys dont have a house to sleep? I mean why waste money on a non-srk film and go to sleep? By March18th, you could have met quite a few like minded people who you could have asked reg the movie.
Or may be you guys badly needed some sleep? Anywayz ur comment has no relevance now. JA is already a hit and it does not need any more word of mouth !

even after giving hits like jodhaa akbar and D2 krissshh and many other……i get the feeling that hrithik roshan isnt getting his fair share of fame. u dont see him in gatherings, neither any one goes ga ga about him like media goes for SRK (even when he makes us c ridiculous movies like OSO). hrithik is the numero-uno in bollywood……just don’t understand the politics of this world!!!

Yes coz may be srk pays the media, once he tried to pay the judges to get the filmfare award n later he apologised..actually srk is insecure guy though he is nice too…but he is scared to loose his position.
On the contrary, Hritik is a humble guy, who just wants his work to speak about him. He is still a newbie when compare to srk.
Hritik is a superstar and a super hero, rest of the lots are heroes. Hritikh takes risks and it pays well for him.
Media itself is hungry for publicisty these days. They want there channel to be the best. Actually evry channel is at its worst, they just drag the news. they keep on repeating things, they have nothing new to show. They have one takia kallam..zaheer se batth hai ..zaheer see bath hai…and sometimes the breaking news they show sounds like a silly news…breaking news- mango fell from the tree..breaking news- one monkey is eating biscuit in the tree. Its better to watch news than to see any serial, as it accounts for more entertainment than news. Sometimes reporters don’t know what they are suppose to speak, so they go on bragging..salman khan is on the plane ,seat number is 26 he is wearing blue t shirt and laal chaddi..(hahah) now why do we care what colour is his underwear… and why do we care what is thenumber of his seat……sanjay dutt is outt jail he is shaking hands, now he is turning left and smiling now he is touching his nose. now he removed his hands and now I can see one black makhi(housefly) sitting on his thumb, may be makhi wanna lick the food:P…this is the news we get to see everydday.

Oi Raja tera baj gaya baaja….. aab tojhey sirf save karengey kwaja merey kwaja…….. hehehe..
Raja seriously you must be some boring guy, u know every tapoori guy also has some kinda decency and they appreciate things that r beautiful to evry eye, either u need to go for an eye check up and u need some maturity and stop acting as if you are such a cool guy! coz now a days cool guy prefer movies that has too much sense and purity..gone are those days when cool guys used to use f words n b words….now a days new trend has been surfacing which is more docile and appreciative…n that is cool u r dibba and may be a whithered fooool

Thanks Jamuna for also bajawing Raja’s baaja. Imagine he took all the pain to visit the site, read all messages and then post a lousy message as if that was great value addition for us!
As for what Mayank feels, it is so true. Hrithik is the number one. no doubt, esp if you see the range of roles he has done and that too with a fair amount of success and consistency. we can say more or less for sure that in a year with Hrithik movie release, srk and others might as well slepp coz he is surely geting the awards.
Now hrithik needs to succeed in some kinda comedy movie too..
srk is all over all channels, and that is what the media want. how will they occupy 24 hrs of news info, srk guarantees them one hr per day, waht with cricket, quiz shows, etc….
The publicity for OSO was the height!
I doubt there will be any other actor like Hrithik, we were lucky to have him this decade after a full two decades of mediocrity after Amitabh’s first innings.Hence all khans etc with hardly any acting prowess were successful!

and then he cracks ridiculously bad jokes(lyk the ones at filmfare) on hrithik to bring out his frustration……
newayz……ne one knowz bout future projects of HRITHIK?? his forthcoming movies aftr the super success of Jodhaa akbar……..???cant wait 2 c his next……

Hrithik’s next movie is dad’s prodn with Anurag Basu as the director called Kites. Thereafter he is likely to do Krish sequel if nothing else exciting comes up. Anurag’s movie is an intl thriller with lots of dance!
The release will happen only next year I guess even thou he is hoping that it will happen end of the year.
Next years awards are more or less booked. I wish Hrithik has atleast two releases a year! That way srk will give up on awards atleast.
What was so great about his acting in Chak de aside from the fact that he didnot ham as usual.

Hi Sunita
U r too cool kinda girl, I see loads of innocence in what you write, n it looks like u r Kritikh Roshan’s fan…good good. I think u r a spiritual girl coz spiritual ppl gt attracted to the subtle aura of their kind, coz hritikh too is a spiritual guy..anyone who is god fearing and caring has some kinda spirituality in them, n they should purseu it.
Hritick I think, you need to have new hair style in every movie that u act in, coz it makes u so fresh and look so diff
