Jagga Jasoos Weekend Box Office Collections

‘Jagga Jasoos’ has done well in its first weekend at the box office, although on Sunday it hasn’t show the kind of growth that was expected out of the film after a big upward trend on Saturday.

Sunday was the day when the family audience was expected to come out to theatres in big numbers and they did. Several exhibitors reported that the younger section of the audience were seen in larger numbers at theatres.

Since the release is limited, the occupancy in theatres on Sunday was quite high compared to most other releases this year.

But inspite of the film recording the 7th highest first weekend total of 2017, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ has only about collected 30% of what it needs, to recover its high costs. These days, when it comes to lifetime collections (i.e final total), very few films manage to double its weekend collections. ‘Jagga Jasoos’ has to more than triple its weekend collections – which isn’t going to be easy when the ticket prices come down, quite significantly, during weekdays at multiplexes were the film is performing.

The trend too isn’t as good as ‘Barfi’. Like we mentioned in our report yesterday, the Friday to Saturday growth of 30% was similar to Barfi. But the previous Anurag-Ranbir film further jumped by 30% on Sunday from Saturday. ‘Jagga Jasoos’ has only shown 13% growth on Sunday, when the collections should’ve ideally been closer to the 15 crore mark.

‘Jagga Jasoos’ will have to collect 7 crore on Monday and then hold strongly over the next few days, to have any chance of recovering costs. The 2nd weekend will be crucial too. ‘Munna Michael’ is mainly targeted at the masses, where ‘Jagga Jasoos’ hasn’t even had a proper release. ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ is too small and too niche to impact ‘Jagga Jasoos’. So the film definitely has quite a bit of breathing space in the next couple of weeks, provided it sustains well in the next 4 days.

  • can’t blv jagga will fail.. these days good urban films atleast attain semi hit status . I feel high budget & negativity caused by delay r the major deterrents for its bo

  • As I said Jaaga Jasoos should have done 15 CR yesterday but it has done 13.07 CR . If it crashes today its all over for the film . Ideally JJ should have done 11+ on the first day and 13+ on the 2nd day . Your Lifetime prediction is 57 CR which means you are expecting this film to crash badly today .

  • Bola Tha Na :-)
Today’s collection will be less than 5 crore and that should seal the fate of the film.
Perhaps towards the end of the week, we will see an article from Indicine on what went wrong with Jagga Jasoos and why it flopped.

  • Well this looks like a flop bt anyway ranbir is still the brightest youngstar…though some fools compare him with khans saying that he had never given one atbb in ten years while each of them had at least one….nobody should be compared with khans….even akshay kumar who is a big superstar could not give bigger openings than them maybe even in nxt 25 years no body can surpass the khans they are in a different league altogether

    • Will collect 5 crores today – trending will be similar to Tamasha – hence might wrap between 58-62 crores

  • Honestly Indicine wtf are u guys smoking?? Why are u keep on comparing this movie to Barfi? Its totally different and look at the age gap of both movies?? This film is an outright flop hands down why the excuses and ifs and buts

  • Its DISASTER from the making it self..
Such a delay film always ends up this way.
2years is maximum above 2years shows neither the actor or the director is intersted.
Just for the sake of Producer they finish the movie..

  • From Tubelight downfall to Jagga not flying; seems Indicine is finding excuses after excuses…who told makers to rls the movie in limited screens??They knew Higher screens will not matter much…admit This is a boring, flop movie…where were Your these excuses in time of MD/Raees/Kaabil…Then You were saying these are bad or not so good movie that’s why underperforming…and now U r trying hard to defend? Keep Trying Indicine…let’s See how far Jagga reaches…

  • 13 crores is less than what jump was needed. Can’t gross like Barfi that means difficult road ahead..

  • In a right universal film with appeal, Ranbir Kapoor has the 5th biggest crowd-pull after Aamir, Salman, SRK and Hritik Roshan. He is not channelizing it properly. Hope he chooses good movies for all sections and age group of audience.

  • @indicine u keep changing LBO of movies like TZH which is still a good 5 months away from its release?on what basis u predict its collections n then wht u keep changing it as in between nothing related to the movie was released not even a poster so on what basis u keep changing it?

  • am still angry why a talented and a lovable actor like Ranbir has done this film.. it’s boring like a hell and I couldn’t stand it and couldn’t wait in the theater for more than 35-40 minutes convincing myself: it’s ok.. wait.. the next scenes would be nice and interesting.. but I was really really disappointed with this disturbing musical film, the meaningless script.. in fact there was no script!! and the story was a crap, u don’t even care enough to know all the details of it.. wish that Ranbir would be very careful in future in selecting any script.. script is the most important thing to consider before signing any film. the film will fall flat in the coming days.. am sure.. but Ranbir has to rise high and to learn from his mistakes and select better films

  • So, in short, the bad time of Ranbir continues.

He has lost the touch with the audience, especially urban audience which dominates the multiplexes, wherein the most collections are generated, while he was never in touch with single screen audience. So, a loss-loss situation overall.

When the hype falls, everything falls. It will be a humongous task for him to recover.

Srk, Salman, Aamir, Akshay, have all fallen and risen……no wonder they are called superstars.

Does Ranbir have what it takes to pass the acid test……?? If yes, he will be called a Superstar,,,,and if not, he will be just like another star son, who made it big with the initial hype.

Only thing that seems positive about him is that he has talent, and if not acting, he has the calibre to make some good films in future by reviving RK studios.

  • Well even if it fails the film still gain some great appreciation by a section of the audiance and it’s far from being the mega disaster some analyst were expecting. Despite all negativity created around it, JJ would have been a decent grosser. The only big problem is its budget… Anyway, I loved it and I still think Ranbir is from far the best of his generation !

  • Consolidatory business because pf RK and below expected business coz of kat who is more of a jinx now !

  • Shitiest movie ever trying to be sherlock holmes in form of beauty and the beast or late 70s disney animations… Walked out of cinema within 17 minutes ruined my money
