Jagga Jasoos has performed fairly well on its opening day at the box office, collecting 8.57 crore on Friday. The film needs big growth over the next two days to have any chance of recovering costs. The hope is that the family audience, especially the kids, will come in bigger numbers on Saturday evening onwards.
The response is extreme, it seems to be a ‘love it or hate it’ kind of film. A section of the audience has loved the film for its uniqueness and performances, while the rest haven’t had good things to say about it. The word-of-mouth is certainly nowhere close to as good as ‘Barfi’, but the costs are higher here, so recovery won’t be easy.
The advance at metro cities is slightly better than the opening day, especially in the NCR region. It will be the Top 5-10 cities that’ll have to perform in the next few days and the kind of growth the film shows on Saturday will probably decide its fate.
Amongst opening day collections of 2017 films, the opening of Jagga Jasoos is in the same range as Kaabil and Sachin: A Billion Dreams. Bahubali 2 aside, Raees remains the Hindi film to beat this year.

Tiger Zinda will easily beat Raees but the real target will be to beat the figures of the previous instalment..it will be 5 years and The realease size and the ticket prices both will be 40% higher than Ek tha tiger in comparison so it should achieve those figures on a non holiday what ek tha tiger did on a national holiday.
Jab harry met sejal can also open at 20 crore or above..Srk said that it is a film that can fill up 4000 screens so if it releases on 4000 screens or close to that then it has some good chances of goinf over 20 crore mark..yes the pre release strategy may not have worked but u cant undermine the pull of Shahrukh Khan.. JHMS is a romantic comedy but it not ur regular rom com. Even chennai express was a romantic conedy but it was way different from the usual romcoms that we are served week in and week out.JHMS will also be different when we will watch the film..the music of chennai express also didn’t work until they released thalaiva song which created havoc..JHMS cannot boast of a song as popular as thalaiva but they still have some beautiful songs in the film so If they promote the songs well in the coming days it can help the film open at higher levels.
since happy new year none of Shahrukh Khan s release has released on 3500 screens plus so if he gets one of the widest releases then he will definitely go beyond 20 crore mark.
Golmaal 4 is releasing on the biggest holiday of the year so it has bright chaces of opening at bumper levels..since secret superstar is not ur event Aamir khan release it will get not more than 1500-1700 screens which will mean golmaal 4 will defintely get 3800-4000 screens..
Ek tha tiger and golmaal 4 will be the top contenders for the opening records of outright hindi films
The real surprise however i beleive will be judwaa 2..The music of david dhawan’s films is underrated because they dont stay with u for a long time but they do become very popular during the release..even the music of main tera hero worked well durimg its release in 2014..since there are no big films or event films announced for September, judwaa 2 should be varun dhawan’s biggest release ever, possible close tp 3500 screens, if the theatrical and music work then this film can seriously not only challenge but also beat the opening of Raaes.

Again it is prove that how important is solo release. There was zero interest for this movie but still did more than Kabil because some people still watches to spend weekend irrespective of buzz. Kabil might have done 12-17 cr opening if it was solo release and raees 30-33. But producers egoistic nature killed their prospects.

Ranbir is not as big as khans or even akki yet but he has fan following and that is why film like JJ did not crash badly after mixed reviews. It jumped by 20 percent on Saturday and Sunday will take it past 30-32 mark
JJ has mixed reactions. It will not recover costs and is flop but how funny everytime Ranbirs movie release and Salman fans try sabotaging it…They did the same with poor Vivek but Ranbir is a much better actor and hence will overcome
