Jab Harry Met Sejal Day 4 Box Office Collection Update

One of Shah Rukh Khan’s most famous dialogues – “Don’t underestimate the power of a common man” – pretty much sums up the box office fate of his latest release ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. The audience has rejected the film in the first weekend itself, sending out a clear message that they expect better films from the superstar.

‘JHMS’ has survived the first weekend at big city multiplexes, but collections came crashing down all across the country with each passing day. The weekend collections are the lowest for a Shah Rukh Khan film in the last 5 years. Today, several exhibitors have reduced the number of shows of the film and replaced it with ‘Mubarakan’ which showed excellent growth over its second weekend.

The Imtiaz Ali directed film has collected Rs 45.75 crore in its first weekend and the trend suggests the film will end its first week with net box office collections of around 60-62 crore.

With ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ releasing this weekend, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ won’t be able to add much to its first week total. Our IndicineLBO prediction of 67 crore will be the range the film is looking to finish at.

And if it does indeed fall in that range, the collections will be equivalent to Shah Rukh’s last film ‘Dear Zindagi’ where he had a special appearance. But since the lead star of that film was Alia Bhatt, the costs were much lower and hence the film managed to be a decent success. ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has nearly 3 times the costs.

The film will be the eighth highest grosser of 2017 after ‘Bahubali 2’, ‘Raees’, ‘Tubelight’, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, ‘Jolly LLB 2’, ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Hindi Medium’. It could beat ‘Hindi Medium’ if it does around 9 crore today and holds in the 5 crore range tomorrow.

Monday (Day 4) Box Office Collection Update: ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has witnessed a significant drop on its fourth day at the box office. Ticket prices have dropped to weekday level at several multiplexes, while others have retained weekend rates on the partial holiday for Raksha Bandhan.

Last year, Rustom and Mohenjo Daro were playing in theatres. Raksha Bandhan was on Day 7 for both films. Mohenjo Daro collected 4.24 crore, while Rustom ended up with collections of 8.62 crore. From early trends this morning, it looks like ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ will finish somewhere in between. From the level of occupancy in the morning, it’s looking like a 7 crore range total on Monday. It remains to be seen if the film will show growth as the day progresses.
