Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na marks the acting debut of Aamir Khan’s nephew Imraan Khan. Abbas Tyrewala of Munnabhai M.B.B.S and Main Hoon Na fame (as a writer) has scripted and directed this fun flick mainly targetted at the youth. This is also the first movie from Aamir Khan productions to not feature the superstar himself. But any product that Aamir lends his name to, is keenly anticipated and be rest assured, high on quality. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is no exception!
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is about Jai Singh Rathore a.k.a Rats (Imraan Khan), a Rajput who doesnt believe in violence and Aditi Mahant a.k.a Meow (Genelia D’Souza), a cute and violent girl. Aditi feels Jai is a big coward and Jai says her parents should have rinsed her mouth with soap! They fight like crazy but just cant live without each other. They are almost a made for each other couple, their parents know this, friends know it, but they believe they are just great friends, no more, no less. Does friendship turn into love?
Jane Tu Ya Jane Na Review
Whatever Aamir Khan touches seems to be turning into gold. First Lagaan, then Taare Zameen Par and now Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, although not in the same league, is yet another classic from Aamir Khan productions. What works for Jaane Tu is the well etched characters, performed brilliantly by the actors. Its not just the main characters, but even the supporting characters that add a lot of value to Jaane Tu.
Director Abbas Tyrewala has executed the script with brilliance. The first half is almost flawless, a simple tale of friendship and love, that either makes you smile or laugh. The second half, could have been better.. it tends to drag a tad bit at times and gets predictable when Genelia is engaged. The writer should have opted for a different climax and made it slightly more believable. The dialogues are witty, hilarious at times and brilliant. The music by A.R. Rehman is perfect for the movie. “Pappu cant dance saala” and “Kabhi Kabhi” stand out.
Scenes that stand out in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
- Aditi’s parents and Jai’s discussion on the engagement. Funny!
- Aditi wonders how the 5 years passed by. “On the phone beta” says Jai’s mom.
- Scene between Amit and Aditi, his confession. Heart warming and brilliant!
- Aditi begins to realise her love for Jai only when Manjari Phadnis enters the scene. The jealousy, sadness and regret is executed and performed perfectly.
- When Amit takes Aditi into his room.
- Scenes between Jai’s mother and his dead father (he talks from a portrait). Hilarious!
- The chemistry between the gang of 6 friends.
- Honestly I didnt like the climax, but the performance by Genelia and Imraan, when surrounded by the cops, makes an impact.
I can just go on and on, great moments make a great movie and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na has simply fantastic moments in abundance.
Coming to the performances, Imraan Khan reminded me a lot of Aamir Khan, especially the mischievious grin. Imraan overall makes a solid debut, not once does he go over the top. A good restrained performance, this actor will surely go a long way. Genelia D’Souza’s expressions alone are worth the price of the ticket. She oozes cuteness and performs well. Manjari Phadnis looks good, acts well. Ratna Pathak Shah is superb as always. Paresh Rawal makes you laugh a couple of times. Naseeruddin Shah in a short role is just perfect. The director has managed to extract excellent performances from every other character actor.
Overall, Jaane Tu is immensely enjoyable and high on entertainment. If your looking for a movie on friendship and love, that makes you smile and laugh at times. Dont miss it! At the box-office, the lacklustre performance of Love Story 2050 along with good word out mouth should ensure a HIT status atleast!

I love bollywood movies and I really admire Aamir Khan. The movie would probably have been one of the greatest movies ever made if the storyline was unique (like rang de basanti). But they chose to stick to the same freaking concept of friends not
knowing they love each other till its too late and the the painful painful climax scene where the guy runs to the airport to stop the gal from going away and tell her that he really loves her.. PATHETIC PATHETIC. I really enjoyed all the fun moments in
the movie. Everyone acted exceptionally well. But guys please please dont do the same climax again for 1 billionth time.

seems like dis movie script writer watched many telugu movies. coz some scenes r a mere copy frm telugu movies. dat aids scene n potrait (naseerudin shah)talking in live,death of cat, n many other such things. but finally d movie really good. n u can watch more dan once. to say i really enjoyed a lot. i dont like hero coz pappu can dance but imraan khan cant dance.he dont look dat cute. genilia is very cute n imraans gf is also good. frends r very bad but acting is good. narration is very exellent.finally we r in need of dese kind of movies. actually dis is called as comedy not dat akshay kumar n others idiotic comedy..

i really liked d movie….the actors performed so well…..i can see der r some negative comments….i donno hw cn a person gets time to open a review site of a movie which s/he doesnt like…..ok may b if u hv enuf time…bt for those who want to find reality in evry movie, i dn think a movie is always evaluated based on d story….imraan ws stiff in some scenes, bt dat only built up his character better…..evryone may have different choice, bt honestly speakin d way you all praise Shahrukh hes nt worth for all dose…..i dn like shahrukh bt i neva go to any review site of his movies and put my negative comments….

You know fathiya you r the only one who refuse to accept that this movie is waste of time and etc.. But you know i think now you have to give up seein films or writing comments. You saying that those who are 16 or 17 yrs of age are not eligible for justify that the movie is great or not. You know fathiya i read all your comments on this film but you know what you r the one who can called as crap. To understand this kind of films you have to become young you know and must have sensitive feelings you know that, but i don’t think you have any type of heart. The main purpose of films are to enjoy and to learn something frm that, but are you doin reasearch or somethin on films. I am 20 yrs. Old and i have seen about all the films in hollywood and bollywood, i enjoyed it that’s it. But i think jaane tu ya jaane na is a sensitive film, and i think you wanted to see some sci-fi things in that film and that’s why you like Ls2050. This film is the most disgusted film i ever seen the director tried to copy the scenes frm the fifth element like hollywood movies but i think bollywood needs time to create such kind of movies.

Dear Abhi: U don’t know a woman for her comments.. I’m the most romantic woman on this earth.. I saw Veer Zara and my tears didn’t stop falling.. do u know why?? Because the director had a magical hands to create such a movie.. a sensitive & a touching story.. and LS2050 was about ( a love story) so it’s about the feeling the hero had for the heroine who dies and reborn again in future..
It’s not only me who didn’t like JTYJN, well.. u consider me an old woman and the movie isn’t for my age ( although watching any movie and evaluate it is nothing to do with our age) my causin who is 22 years old watched this movie with a group of her friends and they didn’t like it to.. they said ( a crap, no story)!!!
Abhi: I don’t need to become ( young) to understand this crap!!! it wasnt a complicated story like God Father, or a politic one.. but u ppl need to grow up to distinguish good from bad ( and u lack this my dear Abhi!)
