Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na marks the acting debut of Aamir Khan’s nephew Imraan Khan. Abbas Tyrewala of Munnabhai M.B.B.S and Main Hoon Na fame (as a writer) has scripted and directed this fun flick mainly targetted at the youth. This is also the first movie from Aamir Khan productions to not feature the superstar himself. But any product that Aamir lends his name to, is keenly anticipated and be rest assured, high on quality. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is no exception!
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is about Jai Singh Rathore a.k.a Rats (Imraan Khan), a Rajput who doesnt believe in violence and Aditi Mahant a.k.a Meow (Genelia D’Souza), a cute and violent girl. Aditi feels Jai is a big coward and Jai says her parents should have rinsed her mouth with soap! They fight like crazy but just cant live without each other. They are almost a made for each other couple, their parents know this, friends know it, but they believe they are just great friends, no more, no less. Does friendship turn into love?
Jane Tu Ya Jane Na Review
Whatever Aamir Khan touches seems to be turning into gold. First Lagaan, then Taare Zameen Par and now Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, although not in the same league, is yet another classic from Aamir Khan productions. What works for Jaane Tu is the well etched characters, performed brilliantly by the actors. Its not just the main characters, but even the supporting characters that add a lot of value to Jaane Tu.
Director Abbas Tyrewala has executed the script with brilliance. The first half is almost flawless, a simple tale of friendship and love, that either makes you smile or laugh. The second half, could have been better.. it tends to drag a tad bit at times and gets predictable when Genelia is engaged. The writer should have opted for a different climax and made it slightly more believable. The dialogues are witty, hilarious at times and brilliant. The music by A.R. Rehman is perfect for the movie. “Pappu cant dance saala” and “Kabhi Kabhi” stand out.
Scenes that stand out in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
- Aditi’s parents and Jai’s discussion on the engagement. Funny!
- Aditi wonders how the 5 years passed by. “On the phone beta” says Jai’s mom.
- Scene between Amit and Aditi, his confession. Heart warming and brilliant!
- Aditi begins to realise her love for Jai only when Manjari Phadnis enters the scene. The jealousy, sadness and regret is executed and performed perfectly.
- When Amit takes Aditi into his room.
- Scenes between Jai’s mother and his dead father (he talks from a portrait). Hilarious!
- The chemistry between the gang of 6 friends.
- Honestly I didnt like the climax, but the performance by Genelia and Imraan, when surrounded by the cops, makes an impact.
I can just go on and on, great moments make a great movie and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na has simply fantastic moments in abundance.
Coming to the performances, Imraan Khan reminded me a lot of Aamir Khan, especially the mischievious grin. Imraan overall makes a solid debut, not once does he go over the top. A good restrained performance, this actor will surely go a long way. Genelia D’Souza’s expressions alone are worth the price of the ticket. She oozes cuteness and performs well. Manjari Phadnis looks good, acts well. Ratna Pathak Shah is superb as always. Paresh Rawal makes you laugh a couple of times. Naseeruddin Shah in a short role is just perfect. The director has managed to extract excellent performances from every other character actor.
Overall, Jaane Tu is immensely enjoyable and high on entertainment. If your looking for a movie on friendship and love, that makes you smile and laugh at times. Dont miss it! At the box-office, the lacklustre performance of Love Story 2050 along with good word out mouth should ensure a HIT status atleast!

Abbas Tyrewala has given an interview in gulfnews-dubai stating that he developed the story and all, where as the truth is Janee Tu is the remake of an old Malayalam hit movie “Niram”.
He should have displayed a little more respect to the original writer.

Get real. This movie has a weak story. Surely it is meant for the youth audiences. But just make a note
of the number of times the word shit is used. Is that a good example to the youth ?
Even when the character of Meow enters the secret room of the brother just watch the mouth of Genelia - I think that she seems to utter what the F ?
I do not really understand why this movie is a super hit . The music songs go well and A.R Rehman does
deliver.

Nazirmo: Not only that, in the scene where “Amit” is sitting on the edge of the house gate, one of the friends or his sister ( I’m not sure which one of them) call him: you.. son of a bitch! This is even worse than what u mentioned and he keeps quite!! as it’s something normal they regularly say it!!) If I am not wrong I think his sister calls him that.. Genelia!!!
I didn’t concentrate or pay a great attention to it as I didn’t like it from the starting.

just bull shit !! kind of movie i did not expect from aamir khan production house.. i mean i can get that the intention with which aamir khan might have lended his name to this movie.. to make a simple cute love story. but i think the story has over killed itself. everything going as predictable as ekta kapoor’s saas bahu soaps this is one movie that I reminds me that every moment of life is precious .. dont waste it in such a silly mpvie.

Loved this movie from begin to end…Except a few bugs here and there…one should understand the feel of movie and what it try to convey to all of us…i understand that most of us scale movies from the entertainment aspect…but few of us only ake an effort to see the hidden treasure of smiles and light moments they bring to our life…..few of us understand how “real the reel” is…few of us could only relate the simple but still twisted feeling that ADITI might be having when she could see MEGHNA enter JAI’s life….she could only then realise how strongly bond she is with JAI….and that’s true friends…many of you will agree with me….that one never knows someone special that he or she is looking for is no one but is his or her best of friends….
BEST FLIM AFTER LONG TIME…LIGHT AND TOUCHING….MUST WATCH….

Contract is very poor with 10-15% opening, the reports are very poor and it has no chance at the box office.
Kismat Konnection opened to a very good opening with multiplexes being 85%+ and the other centres 70%. The reports are mixed but the good start will ensure the film is an earning film.
Mehbooba manages 2 crore nett business in week one. It is very poor outside some single screens in UP and Bihar. FLOP
Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na is extraordinary as it manages 17.50 crore nett business in week two taking its total to 37.50 crore in two weeks. The film is by far the biggest hit of the year and may even become the biggest grosser.
Love Story 2050 crashes all over with 2 crore nett business in week two. DISASTER
Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic takes its total to 23 crore after 3 weeks. FLOP

Fathiya how much spare tym do u have on ur hands writing such long coments…in MY OPINION JTYJN was a great film that’s my opinion end of story. I don’t need 2 write 10 loooooonnnnnnggggg comments expressing my opinion btw Saawariya sucked in MY OPINION… The whole film was shot in the dark, booring old love story… it was meant 2 b a musical but only 2 tracks were decent…SLB has made better films that were love stories in the past i.e. HDDCS
