Unlike Love Story 2050, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na wasn’t expected to open big at the box-office. But the box-office opening of Jaane Tu is amongst the biggest openings of the year so far.
The movie, released on 300 prints all over india and made on a limited budget has opened to a great response mainly at the multiplexes, the movie has clicked in a big way with its target audience, the youth.
The opening on friday was between 75 to 80% picked up big time right from the evening shows on Friday itself were it witnessed collections in the range of 95 to 100%!! The shows for Saturday and Sunday were sold out well in advance and it was quite tough for most movie-goers to get tickets on Sunday. The black-ticket sellers made quite a neat profit too, from those who were desperate to watch the movie on the weekend.
Monday, yes the all important Monday, were most much-hyped movies crash has been very steady for Jaane Tu.
What this all means is, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, produced by Aamir Khan could be the biggest hit of 2008 and could even go past the likes of Race and Jodha Akbar. For a movie starring a newcomer this is a HUGE achievement.
At the overseas box-office, the movie has done exceptionally well, which is again surprising. The collections for the weekend in North America is $200,000 from 38 screens, Australia it at $30,427 from 6 prints and in United Kingdom; $57,120 from 13 prints.
Overall, Jane Tu Ya Jane Na is a winner all the way at the boxoffice. Sure shot Blockbuster!
More updates on the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na BO shortly.
