Sajid Nadiadwala’s 2 States, written by Chetan Bhagat had taken a back seat due to issues with Vishal Bharadwaj and the writer. As per initial plans the movie was supposed to feature Shahrukh Khan and Vishal Bharadwaj was signed to directed the film. When Vishal walked out mid-way, the project was put on hold.
Now the novel is back in picture, as Sajid Nadiadwala has found a new actor and director. The film will reunite the Rockstar actor-director duo of Ranbir Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali.
If you haven’t read the novel yet, Two States is a romantic tale of a North Indian boy (Ranbir) who falls in love with a South Indian girl (yet to be cast).
After completing filming of Anurag Basu’s Barfee, Ranbir will head on to Ayan Mukherjee’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, after which he will start shooting for Two States.

I think they should cast Asin as the female lead because she is really talented and beautiful and she has the look of a south indian. I also think maybe Jacqueline Fernandez or Lisa Haydon would be able to do justice to the character. Rani Mukherjee would also do very good but I don’t think she would make a very good pair with Ranbir Kapoor so I think Asin is the best choice.
I also think Asin or Trisha will be a good choice.
i forgot about trisha, but she would do good in that role, also ileana dcruz, kajal aggarwal and genelia dsouza would do good.
Asin ,Trisha out of form.. choose samantha ruth prabu, a chennai girl currently topper in south indian cinema, sure she ll apt.
Asin is agood option, but personally I feel Vidya Balan is the best.
However, one may argue her age wrt Ranbir, but no matter he has made best & successful pairings with higher aged Bipasha in Bachna Ae Haseeno & Konkana SenSharam in Wake Up Sid.
i think Katrina will be best , as she makes a good pair with Ranbir,as it is evident from ajab prem ki gazab kahani and rajnneti.

i think asin is the ultimate choice for the female lead. but if not her, i would suggest sonakshi sinha, ileana dcruz, genelia dsouza, kajal aggarwal, jacqueline fernandez or lisa haydon. even a new girl would be really good!

I think they should cast Salman Khans sister Alvira Khan opposite Ranbir, he can teach her a lesson or two by blasting pellets into her.
Kiran Rao would be another option, as a slut she likes destroying marriages. Ranbir can use her like he used Deepika. Although she is ugly by nature, she acted in ishq viskh as a tart. I’m sure perfectionist would be porud of her snogging ranbir as it is something different and experimental LMAO
I didn’t use to like Ranbir after Rajineeti it was so and so. Now he has joined my group of favourite actors after Rockstar, the movie was intense and showcased ranbirs raw acting skills. He is a good actor and a great craftsmans, he can also entertain and has a certain charm. Reminds me of a young SRK and Hritikh, however he is not on par with them. SRK and Hritikh are superior products which he will reach with time. However he is miles ahead os Telugu Remake Khan and Affair Khan in terms of acting and persona.
according to me samantha or tapsee should be considered..n asin, trisha n vidya will all look older than ranbir.. the leads in the story are of equal age so it might be apt to cast a young actress.. they can also take in a new face.. !

Even i read this novel.. And I strongly believe no one can portray Ananya much better than Asin!! She perfectly fits the role inspite of some intimate scenes in the middle.. I’m not sure whether the movie will have those intimate scenes but i just cant imagine any actress other than Asin.. And her paring with Ranbir will also provide us with some freshness..
