He is considered Bollywood’s king of romance, but superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he was never keen on featuring in romantic sagas until filmmaker Yash Chopra convinced him.
“I was so anti doing love stories because I thought I am not good with them. I remember Yashji (Yash Chopra) tell me, till you love, nobody will love you back. So true” tweeted Shah Rukh who did grey roles in the beginning of his career.
Shahrukh, who started his tryst with showbiz as an army man in TV show “Fauji”, made his Bollywood debut with a romantic movie titled “Deewana” in 1992.
His first movie with Yash Chopra was the 1993 film “Darr”, in which he played an obsessed lover. Thereafter, under the Yash Raj Films banner, Shah Rukh went on to do films like “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (1995), “Dil Toh Pagal Hai” (1997), “Mohabbatein” (2000), “Veer-Zaara” (2004), Chak De India (2007) and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” (2008) — all of which cemented his loverboy image on the big screen.
Now, he has dabbled in romance yet again for “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, Chopra’s last directorial venture. He has shared screen space with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the movie, set to release on November 13th (Diwali weekend).

Similar strumming pattern and a few similar chords don’t make two songs the same. If that were the case, half of western music would be labeled copied from the other half. Now, ‘Challa’ from Jab Tak Hai Jaan begins with brisk strumming following which the drums kick in. What’s got the detractors confused is the fact that the chord progression of ‘Challa’ is similar to that of ‘Save Tonight’ (Am-F-C-G), but as the song progresses, the chords too vary and the two tracks become as different as chalk and cheese.
By the logic of the detractors, all the songs with the Am-F-C-G progression would be copies of each other, some being Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life”, Eminem’s “Not Afraid”, or Heart’s “Alone”.
If our assertion sounds mumbo-jumbo to you, rest assured that the melody combinations that any single progression posits could be so diverse that many different compositions could be belted out of the same progression.
A R Rahman isn’t short of talent or ideas to copy songs when he can create award winning numbers.
