‘I have been approached for Magadheera remake’ – Shahid Kapoor

Actor Shahid Kapoor is going through yet another low-phase in his career after a ‘Shaandaar’ debacle last year. However, offers continue to flow for the talented actor, who is yet to deliver a film that has grossed more than Rs 70 crore at the box office.

The new biggie that Shahid has been approached for, is the long-rumoured remake of S.S. Rajamouli’s Magadheera.

“I still have not heard the script and no, I haven’t signed the film yet. But if you are asking me whether I have been approached for the film, then yes, they have come to me. But I am yet to sit for a script narration” Shahid said.

The actor has also said that his next film ‘Udta Punjab’ is unlikely to have commercial appeal, but his film with Vishal Bhardwaj, he says, will appeal to a lot more people.

“I felt really passionately about the role I had been offered in Udta Punjab and about the world that the filmmaker wanted to create. I felt this film needed to be made and that it should be made, so I said yes to that film…. Rangoon is a lot more commercial than Udta Punjab. There’s a lot of time to talk about it because for that, people need to understand the film and for that again, Vishal sir needs to talk about it. He always chooses different worlds and when everybody expects him to make a film similar to his last one, he makes and he changes it. So, Rangoon will be one of those surprises.”

Shahid’s last film, ‘Shaandaar’ finished with lifetime collections of less than Rs 45 crore in India. With younger actors delivering big 100 crore grossers, it’s going to be now or never for Shahid.
