I am a very hard working person: Madhuri Dixit (Interview)

Madhuri DixitOne of the best actresses in tinsel town, Madhuri Dixit is very strict when it comes to health issues and adds she is quite good at multi-tasking too.

“I am a multi-tasker. I can do two things together. I am very strict with myself and my kids too. I handle my diet and I am responsible for my health,” she told IANS in an interview.

During her long and successful innings in the filmdom, she churned out hits like “Tezaab”, “Beta”, “Dil”, “Dil To Pagal Hai”. However, her comeback film after her marriage with the US-based doctor Sriram Nene “Aaja Nachle” turned out to be a damp squib when it hit the theatres in 2007.

The 45-year-old has now moved back to India along with her husband and two sons – Arin and Raayan.

She regained her popularity as the judge of dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” and has now bagged two important films – “Dedh Ishqiya” and “Gulaab Gang”.

Asked her about competition, she said: “I have never believed in that. I do what I like and I enjoy it.”

What are your strengths?

“I am a very hard working person. I am creative. I like to dance and act. I love whatever I am doing,” said the actress.

Talking about her two prestigious projects, she said that Anurag Kashyap’s “Gulaab Gang” shooting is on and camera will start rolling for Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Dedh Ishqiya” in mid-February.

“Both the films have strong roles and very nice characters,” she added.

Sequel to critically acclaimed “Ishqiya”, “Dedh Ishqiya” also stars Huma Qureshi along with Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi who were in the original.

Madhuri is also known for her million dollar smile, but she regards legendary Madhubala’s smile as the most beautiful.

“I love Madhubala’s smile and I think it is the best in the industry,” said the actress who is also a huge fan of Madhubala.

  • I agree with the great Madhuri in regards to her last comment. I remember watching Mughal-e-azam in 92 or 93 and it was truly a great film but for me the beauty of Madhubala in that film has only been matched by Madhuri herself in some of her earlier work like Dil, Beta, Kishen Khanaiya and Ram Lakhan. Both were goddesses on the silver scren. Great days in Bollywood history.
Madhuri is still as beautiful at 45 and puts actresses half her age to shame. She had the complete package- good looks, beautiful smile, talent, great dialogue delivery and screen presence which at times surpassed her male co stars. Remember watching Sanjay Kapoors debut in Raja 1995 but it was all about Madhuri Dixit and he was just a mere sidekick at best.
Wish you all the best and looking forward to watching you again on the silver screen.

  • @Navin.. But her face is botox’ed. Much like Sridevi, her face has become plastic. It was clearly visible in English Vinglish that Sri was struggling with her facial expressions and smile.

Madhuri still looks beautiful, but her closeups on television and a few pictures on Indicine.. clearly suggest that there is a lot of wax on her face.

Coming to her movies.. Aaja Nachle was a hugely disappointing film. I hope Dedh Ishqiya is better, but it won’t be a commercial film and will only work with certain section of the audience.

Even Ishqiya was only praised by critics.

  • @pooja True what you say about the botox but I dont mind people experimenting with botox as its their own personal choice. What matters is how they look afer the surgery and clearly Sri Devi has been spending abit too much time under the knife. She dont look good but Madhuri does and still has that ‘million dollar smile’ which is a huge asset.
