In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan tells the leading daily why Bang Bang would be his biggest hit to date, he reveals the truth behind the casting controversy of Shuddhi and also why he signed Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro.
On being asked to leave Karan Malhotra’s Shhuddhi
I had just learnt that Karan (Malhotra) wanted to go ahead with Shhuddhi which had been in limbo for a long time, following my accident. I respected that, it’s only his second film, and gave him a dignified way to move on by announcing that I was opting out.
At a time, when those whom I considered friends wanted to go on without me, here was a man (Ashutosh) who stood by me for three years. I owed it to him to read his script. And once I did, I was blown away. I signed Mohenjo-Daro in two minutes.
On being asked if Shhuddhi has affected his relationship with Karan Johar (producer) and Karan Malhotra:
I don’t think so. Life has taught me that if people are happy without me, they should go ahead. I’d be happy to do a guest appearance for them. Maybe I will get to work in Karan Malhotra’s third film.

Bang Bang should be the biggest success of my career. It’s the happiest character I have played, when I was going through my worst. When I was physically damaged, I had to pull off those stunts. It’s my greatest victory.

My father is working on three-four scripts simultaneously. Every day he sits down and works on them for four hours. But he’s still not happy with any, though some are really good. As for Krrish 4, I had to force him to take a break from the franchise which he has been with for almost a decade.
Jaadoo fans stop crying over sour grapes- suddenly Shuddhi is a poor film and Mohenjo Daro is a classic in the making- why…? Well hritiks doing it- pffff jeez kids mentality at its worst- Dharmas Shuddhi will be bigger n full off grandeur- no stone well be left unturned in production or promotion terms- simply put its a guaranteed hit at worst which is why you all are upset its not in hrithiks kitty… Get over it…. Its bizness- things happen for better or worse…

@nipun,i agree wid you dude from the statement of hritik it seems that hritik will be in immortals of meluha…but what’s wrong wid fox studios…just 18 to 20 days are left for bang bang releasing date…so far even a single dialogue has not been released….poor promotion strategy by fox studios will effect the novie….but i am sure movie would be very very huge hit across the world.

Its a kind of blessing disguise for HR……. U cant compare karan malhotra with Ashutosh Gowariker…..
AG is a gem of a director and yes Karam M gave him Agneepath but it actually wasn’t upto mark and was more of tribute by KJo to his late father……actually he used Hrithik for it. In fact Hrithik should in future also avoid KJo who is very Selfish and is more faithful to other stars.
To me a great HR movie is which gets appreciation from people (by big box office collections) and by critical acclaim (through Best Actor Awards). Agneepath gave him commercial success but no awards and very less appreciation.
Jodha Akbar was the last one to get him both and I hope Bang Bang and Mohenjo Daro do the same. So may be leaving Shudhhi might be the best thing ever and may well be a whole turnaround for HR now.
The kind of hard work he puts in his movies is un-matchable, he still has many years in the industry and I am sure he will make a mark in the history of Indian Cinema “Best actor of all time. the most complete actor with great acting and dancing skills and the most amazing personality.”

Remember, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage ? or Rajshri’s MPKDH ? that was the only failure of Sooraj since MPK Even Shahid gave a BB with Vivaah but your HR (I am forced to write this) let down completely !!!!!!!!

@nipun and others, I am very much amazed with attitude of you hrithik fans, what is that dead promotions etc. Bang-2 makers has done only one big mistake yet as they not released a full fledged trailer yet.Apart from that everything which came in picture is appealing and positive.I still feel if film is good,there is no need to promote film on large scale, that’s why I liked Aamir marketing strategy which he done during ghajini,3i that promotion tactics weren’t huge expenditure but they were unique, so bang-2 team also not much interesting in large scale promotion as they heavily spent on actual product and that is the film itself, so I think there strategy is correct till date except the decision of not releasing trailer.
Even during kick or other films you notice hardly doing anything out of box or any huge promotion still his films opens best No’s.
For shuddhi case,the makers have right to take decision how much they want to postpone with a certain actor, what hr saying that he heard karan malhotra want to move on with other actor, be specific whether he directly give that point to Hrithik or hrithik assumed with other words.it may be misunderstanding.But may be its not in destiny of hrithik.

Just I was thinking of posy good/sympathetic comment for hr’s bad times.but no,after reading that comment from @digwin,I suddenly changed my mind.so he said right tmk had average script written by shirish and it also contained salman in a song,so obviously it deserved to be bombed and it happened.but what about MHN AND OSO.IF THOSE 2 MOVIES are bad,then knph,rohit series are crappiest of all time.hr fans yout star is going through accidents and bad times and at least you support KING KHAN,SO THAT you will get at least MANY BLESSINGS FROM HIS LARGE FAN FOLLOWING.LAST THING,FARAH MAM already proved HERSELF THE BEST,NOW ON 24TH OCTOBER YOU’LL GET THE RESULT.

I still don’t buy this that neither Karan nor Hrithik wanted to postpone Shuddhi any further. I mean think about it, it is releasing on Diwali 2015 anyway!
The fact is Hrithik chose Ashutosh’s Mohenjo-Daro over Shuddhi. It could be due to personal disagreements or respect for Ashutosh and script of Mohenjo-Daro.
Anyways, I am waiting for both the movies.
I just hope Hrithik signs Immortals of Meluha (based on highest selling Indian novel), whose rights belong to Dharma Production and will be directed by Karan Malhotra. I can’t imagine any other actor playing that role, this is one project which I would prefer even over a Hollywood film for Hrithik.
Hrithik did say he will reunite with both the Karans in future, so I am hopeful about it.
@Digwin – Because neither What’s Your Rashee nor KHJJS were as hyped as Tees Mar Khan. TMK was one of the most promoted Bollywood films ever.
Moreover, Ashutosh has also directed films like Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, and Swadesh. Some of the greatest films ever made in Bollywood. Haven’t seen KHJJS, but neither WYR nor KHJJS were craps. They were different and risky projects which failed at the box office. Don’t forget, Swadesh was also a BO failure, but it was a great film. I’m not saying Farah is worst director ever or HNY will be flop, it will surely earn a lot of money, but Ashutosh is one of the greatest directors in Bollywood history, he shouldn’t be even compared to Farah Khan.
Hritik had done some small stunts after accident which is not that great thing but our king made 10 packs after injury is a big thing

And about degrading other actors, tell that to navin,vicky etc who criticise Hrithik everytime. and about tastes differing from person to person, well i don’t what kind of taste is it to like films with absolute little to no sense and over the top stuffs packed in it. salman’s great films were baghban,hum dil chuke sanam etc not his recent films. our industry needs well made films, you people are blinded by die hard fan following that you are supporting each and every film your fav actor does. if hrithik starts making films like that, i will not be interested in them for sure. i want different types of films and i am getting that from my fav actor, so i am happy with it.

@sky: agreed! But with good promotion, a movie can secure more collections. Fox star is late this time. Only 17 days are left. But they are not giving any updates. Even i don’t see good promotion on TV. Album should release this week. There would have been much more buzz if they had done it 7-8 days earlier.
