In a group interview to promote his recently released film ‘The Shaukeens’, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar spoke about the super-stardom of his father-in-law Rajesh Khanna and the current superstars in the industry that he looks up to.
Talking about the craze for Rajesh Khanna during his peak years in the late 60s and early 70s, Akshay said “According to my wife (Twinkle Khanna), I cannot reach there. I agree. I cannot compare myself to him”
When asked about who he admires amongst the current lot of superstars, the actor said “Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan are the two superstars whom I admire in Bollywood”
Akshay’s latest release ‘The Shaukeens’ has opened well at the box office. The film collected Rs 5.12 cr on Friday and 6.35 cr on Saturday.

If Salman Khan did not come from bollywood elite family whose dad directly contributed towards ONE MAN INDUSTRY, Salman would just be another model for Bata slippers.
If Hrithik did not come from bollywood elite family that produced and directed films, he would just be another good looking model doing shits and suits commercials.
Akshay is a struggler, a self made star, through hardwork and he is a bollywood outsider.
Just like SHAH RUKH KHAN. but Akshay’s self hatred towards India’s 1.25 billion struggling Indians on the streets of India that represent him and SRK is visible here.
In the end, he is just another Bollywood Elitist worshipper.

@Khan – What an unnecessary comment, if you don’t know about their personal lives, then better don’t comment on it. A family with Bollywood background can only give you the break, you have to be talented to become a star. So, to answer your question, if their dads didn’t help them in their debut, then somebody else would have given them the break, as they had all the qualities to become a star. I do agree with guys like SRK and Akshay had to work harder to get that break.

Just because Akshay didn’t name SRK, SRK fans are going nuts. I love how some SRK fans abuses Salman, Aamir, Hrithik, Akshay or any other superstar’s movie because that movie has the potential to do very well at the box-office e.g. Bang Bang, every salman and aamir movie. They know if the movie does very well then Srk will have difficult time breaking that record so they start to surround that movie with negativity, which they succeeded to do that with bang bang.
Most of the Srk fans were saying this before the release of happy new year “We don’t have any excuse to make since this movie has got everything going for it” and now the move is failing they are making excuses after excuses to cover the failure of HNY.
When it comes to numbers Srk fans like to change constantly between Box office india and Indicine. e.g. When Krissh 3 broke the record of Srk’s chennai express, they said Box office india figure is correct and called Hrithik manipulative.When Kick broke the record of Chennai express they are saying how the indicine or producer figure is correct just so they could make kick in the 3rd place.
Now they are definitely going to stick to indicine figure for happy new year since indicine is going to say happy new year crossed 200 crore while box office india says it will finish around 175 to 180 crore which is lower then ek that tiger’s collection and come next year they will change again according to Srk’s box-office collection.
Srk is called king by his fans and King cannot even collect higher then ek that tiger and talking about king, Srk fans are the king of Chameleons.
LOL so called King in his entire career has not given a highest grosser of all time for more then a year like salman khan(HAKHK), Aamir ( Ghajini, 3 idiots, Dhoom 3), Hrithik (Dhoom 2), sunny deol(Gadar) and more.

First of all, it is a great news for Akki fans that Shaukeens has shown better trend on Saturday. Hope this gets better today! Akki’s star power, u chameleon kapoor!
Secondly, Akki is my 3rd Favorite after Salman & Aamir. I am a great fan of his comedies & actions.
Thirdly, on top of coming from a poor background, from a light boy, cook, chef, martial artist, model, to one of the top superstars in the country! Still humble & down to earth. Hats off!

Salman might have come from a Bollywood elite family. But he had hardly taken the help of his dad as he entered the film industry. He wanted to become a director. He could not.
When he entered the industry. His father was struggling with his own career after the separation from Javed Akhtar. You can see the Salman’s debut film. He made a fool of himself in the supporting role.
One day, the producer of Biwi Hoto Hai Aisi, Suresh Bhagat, and the director of the film, J.K. Bihari, was having an argument regarding the supporting male cast of the film.
The producer in his ego said “I will take anybody that comes in from this door for audition today as the supporting actor of the film.” Luckily, the person that entered their room for audition happened to be none other than Salman Khan.
Later, he met an aspiring director Sooraj Barjatya in an event and he was also looking for a newcomer because the established actors would not work with him for such an offbeat film of that time. And the duo gave a historic blockbuster. The rest is history.
In his life as an actor, he has worked in films written by his dad in two films: Patthar Ki Phool (Hit) & Majhdaar (Flop).
Coming from Bollywood elite families doesn’t guarantee one to have success in Bollywood. For example, Uday Chopra & Abhishek Bachchan!
Though HR & Aamir debuted with their own families’ films, they survive because of their talents, skills and hardworks.
Coming to the king Kong, though he was not from a Bollywood family, he was highly connected with Bollywood through his wife. Even Salman’s family helped him in early 90s. Your king himself said this. Or prove him wrong.
Likewise, he got the help from many Bollywood people.
Calling him self-made man & someone who climbed to the top 100% without the help of any Bollywood person means you guys are literally killing Aryan Khan’s career. Because a day will come that people will dedicate the credits of his possible success to his father because he is a son of a successful father in Bollywood, just like you guys are doing today! Karma bites!
Unlike Akki who came from a poor family background, srk’s family was rich and so, he did a master in mass communication.
But Akki is still humble & down to earth. Meanwhile, SRK is arrogant and cocky. He has forgotten his Aatit especially those who has helped during his tough times.
Good people are appreciated by their colleagues and everyone. Salman is appreciated by his competitors like Aamir, Ajay, Akki, Hrithik etc. What else does he need?
He should follow King(SRK) to be sucessful!!

@Khan, SRK is not a self made star. Acknowledge the fact that Yash Chopra played vital role in defining SRK’s career. Yash Chopra’s fondness for SRK made him superstar what he is today. Yes, it is right that SRK was outsider But If SRK had not agreed to do negative roles which most of the actors at that time refused to do due to negative publicity, SRK would have always been a struggler looking for supporting roles. SRK was hard working but fate favored him a lot. SRK is one of the bad actors in Bollywood, he is bad looking and over acting shows in all of his movies except very few. He has limited range in acting. He should never have reached the top spot but pathetic taste of Indian Public changed fortune in his favor and now he is one of the superstar. DDLJ is considered to be the most romantic movie according to Indian public. How worst can be the taste of Indian public?
