Hindi Medium Box Office Collections

Irfan Khan’s Hindi Medium has shown excellent growth at the box office on Saturday. The film opened to collections of around 2.8 crore on Friday and has picked up by around 50% on Saturday, to take its 2-day business to around the 7 crore mark.

It’s one of the few films to be praised by critics this year and that has helped increase the ticket sales at multiplexes on Saturday. The word-of-mouth at metro cities is also positive, which should ensure a healthy weekend of around the 11-12 crore mark.

The trend suggests the film should hold well on Monday too, but business will be hit by lower ticket prices at multiplexes.

As far as the lifetime collections are concerned, such films can pretty much do anything. A 30-crore lifetime will mean it has beaten several medium budget films this year and the first week itself could go over the lifetime collections of the much more expensive Rangoon.

  • Great content but with limited appeal. People of interior India are least bothered about such movies.

  • Oh yeah baby ???
Everything earned by that shitfest HGf shud have been earned by hindi medium.. much more deserving with a class actor and great performances..

  • Such content oriented movies with commercial taste as well should have got justifiable release, screens and support.

  • Irfan Khan by miles should have been the Villain for Robot 2.0 instead of Akshay Kumar. Wonder why Neil Mukesh was even considered before Akshay.

  • Very nice movie… I laugh out loud in a theatre for various scenes after a very long time… it has very good message too..

  • This film deserve big collections only because of Irrfan Khan. I hope audience come in big numbers to support good cinema.

It will do business of 25 crore plus net in India. But deserve much more than it.

  • Will watch this in theater.. Glad there is a section of the audience who still know to differentiate between a good movie and most other overrated crapfests cum blockbusters..

  • and indicine few days back wrote an article bashing small films saying their era is over. lol. small films failed this year not bcz of scale or budget or limited appeal bt bcz of lack of content & almost all big films worked again bcz of content

luk at this week..a small film is all set to emerge a hit while the big film HALF GF maynot even get to semi hit status

stop judging a film by its genre, appeal, budget etc

content is the king for audience

when will the trade realise it

  • Paul…..or 1st weekend mai ye movie hello, mai or Mrs.khanna.merigold,lucky no time for love ko bhi piche chod Degi…..

Don’t know from where these scumbag get such things.. ?

  • TIGER FAN who told you that Neil Mukesh was considered before Akshay sir or you trust in every thing said by media, the writer of 2.0 said that the film is writing with Arnold Schwarzenegger in his mind as the villain in 2.0 but when Arnold want to charge huge paid for the film around 100 cr I think so they decided to reject it and the role gone ahead embarking to akki which charge more paid than rajny for the film, even Amy Jackson said that the character of akki are his favorite in 2.0

Shankar held initial discussions with Kamal Haasan, Aamir Khan and then Vikram about portraying a further role, though none of the three actors signed on to appear in the film.[30][31] Subsequently, the team held talks with Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the role, who agreed to work on the film for a record remuneration.[32][33][34] The makers then opted against signing Schwarzenegger, though there have been conflicting reasons regarding this decision.[a] British actress Amy Jackson signed on to work on the film in October 2015 and visited Los Angeles as a part of the team’s pre-production work.[37] In late November 2015, Rajinikanth also travelled to Los Angeles to meet the film’s producers and complete costume trials and initial motion capture technology work for the venture.[7][38] After further negotiations with actors including Hrithik Roshan and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the makers signed on Akshay Kumar to portray the role in which Schwarzenegger was initially considered.[39].
