Himmatwala First Day Collections: Early Estimate

Himmatwala Box OfficeMuch like Ajay Devgn’s last release Son Of Sardar, the post-release response to Himmatwala was tremendously negative. Critics thrashed the film, and even though it was trending on social networking websites like Twitter, 80% of tweets were mocking the Sajid Khan directed action-comedy.

But the box office collections have a different story to tell. Released on 3100-3200 screens across India, Himmatwala has collected a decent 12-13 crores (early estimates) on it’s first day at the box office.

The film opened poorly at Urban multiplexes on Friday, but picked up for the evening and night shows. At mass-dominated centres, the night shows of the Ajay Devgn-Tamanna starrer was running at 70-80% occupancy.

Collections from a few centres suggest that the film has done well in UP, Bihar, Gujarat and parts of Maharashtra.

Update: Mumbai circuit business is around 4.25 crores, again an early estimate. Final first day collections of Himmatwala will be published tomorrow morning. Stay tuned to Indicine for all the latest box office updates.

  • These numbers are decent, movie will pick up over the weekend but it would be difficult for it to sustain over the weekdays. Still I feel it would not be a huge disappointment at the end of it’s run and lifetime collections would be 100 cr plus.

  • see sajid khan nows the audience, he nows that what we see in films we want to copy them, e.g. himmatwala is a action film, when a couple go and watch the film, the guy would deffinetely be inspired by ajay devgans action and heorism, and i think as long as a film can be inspiration, even comedy, drama, romance etc. then audience will defo love it

  • Boss Its India….There are lots of people to watch it…
Where films like D2 can gross 150cr
    Himatwala can gross decent amount…
Btw,The Great ‘Son of Sardar’ grossed more than Hundred crores why not Hmtwla do well ?
    Whatever..
May God Bless All and The Film get success:)

  • Ajay Always Rocks , satallite rights of this movie sold by mammonth 40cr rupees and its a already turnout as profittable venture for makers . And we all knows that from previous Ajay films , Ajays movies always turnout proffitable ventures for distributors and theaters also. On past year Ajays Son of Sardar turn out as a more proffitable than jthj for theatres. Critics are always negative for every Ajays movie because they are money spinners and always supports movies of buyers like srk. But , Ajay ke saath Desh Ki aam Janata hai , isiliye film to superhit ho kar hi Rahegi.

  • I think ajay’s thise film will manage 75-85 cr+ in india nd 20-30cr+ in out side of india.so,it’s lifetime gross will be 95-115cr+.

  • It will sustain the weekend, but positive word of mouth is important for the movie to keep adding to the above figures further for the days ahead.

    all the best to devgan.

  • I think critics take revenge of this sajid khan revange drama…..if rowdy rathore can do amazing businees then this one will cross 100 crore easily

  • paresh rawal is centre of this movie.tamana is looking very hot in the song only.overall movie is one time watch

Himmatwala did well at single screens and collected around 10.50-11 crore nett as per early estimates. The multiplex business was low and Delhi city and East Punjab multiplexes had dull collections while multiplexes in other areas were average.
The film has done very good business in UP as Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad etc all put up strong numbers. The divide in the Delhi/UP circuit is so huge as it so rare for a film to be at such low levels in Delhi city but such high levels in UP. Even Singham which did not do well in Delhi city did not have such a gap.
Although these mass type of films tend not to show growth on Saturday there is a chance for Himmatwala as multiplexes especially in Delhi/Punjab are at low levels.
The business on Saturday at multiplexes will be keyand growth at multiplexes is a must if the film is tohave any chance at multiplexes over the long run.
