Happy New YearShahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year has done well the world over in its opening weekend at the box office. The film has collected Rs 108.86 crore net in India (Rs 145 crore gross) and added more than 46 crore in the overseas markets to take its worldwide total collections to Rs 190 crore. The Farah Khan film is the biggest weekend grosser in India and overseas by a distance.

As per our estimates, the overseas business of Happy New Year is around $7.25 million, the second highest of all time behind Dhoom 3 which collected $10.3 million (Rs 63 crore) overseas during the Christmas period. HNY is also Shahrukh Khan’s biggest opening overseas, beating his previous best effort of $7.2 million (Rs 44 crore).

Happy New Year has also become only the 2nd film to gross more than $30 million in its first weekend, after Dhoom 3.
